For a fun time to dispel the gloom of January, Dolittle is just what the doctor ordered.

Dolittle’s animals are easier to relate to, with their humanlike self-esteem and family issues, than the film’s central characters.

That's a really fun movie also have an interesting story and it has one of the huge celebrities with distinct personalities it's really fun to watch especially with family .

Everything about Dolittle seems hastily put together — from the whiplash-inducing tonal shifts, to the potty humor, to the poor use of a star-studded cast.

Whether it’s Downey’s mannerisms or the dull quipping provided by his menagerie of digital co-stars, Dolittle is a joyless slog trying to pretend it’s a hip, magical adventure.

Perhaps the biggest disappointment of Dolittle isn’t the incoherent story line, the suffocating CGI or the unfunny stable of celebrity-voiced creatures. It’s that Downey’s personality doesn’t come through at all, either a victim of the surrounding mess or a party to it.

The aroma of "Cats" has yet to fade, but Universal follows it up with another animal-related stinker in Dolittle. Robert Downey Jr. produced and stars in the title role, but even charitably taking into account that this was designed for a younger family audience, talking to animals in this retelling is somehow a colossal bore.

Ultimately Dolittle is not just a weak story, badly told, but a puzzling waste of talent.

Why did Robert Downey Junior have to do this film with one of the worst ascents I have ever heard, he could have just been American it wouldn't have made any difference to plot, but instead we get this very cringy Welsh ascent. There was some very funny moments mostly with the animals, my favourite line came in a scene that is a bit of a spoiler so I won't say anything ;) I almost didn't Michael Sheen in this he has ditched the homeless man/ mad Hobbit look and gone all posh :O

Light-hearted and good fun, Dolittle is cute, at best. Falling short of the Disney magic it seems to live up to, the movie's potential (and great cinematography and acting) is undermined by weak writing, a limited plot, and subpar visual effects. A bit overly juvenile at some points, the film feels like a bit of a waste (despite some, let's just say shocking scenes). Is it bad? Not by any means. It certainly accomplishes its goal of being a feel-good movie, but it's also the perfect movie to put on in the background while doing other (more important) things around the house.

Horrible, 'unfinished' film and a sour note to Downey after a successful run as Iron Man. I am not really sure where they spend all their moneys on. Talking animals may work on animation, but pulling it in live action is quite difficult. Universal attempts to outdo Disney in this respect and failed miserably. Even so, the always dependable Downey is horrible. His choice of English accent made his barely intelligible. Let's also not talk about the so called 'climax' of the film. It is not as bad as it sounds, yet it reeks of desperation by the film makers, who are at this point throw everything but the kitchen sink to make this film 'work'. It didn't.

The movie was barely watchable. More of a time filler really. Neither good or bad. I found myself not invested in the story or characters.
