George Romero, collaborating with writer Stephen King, again proves his adeptness at combining thrills with tongue-in-cheek humor.

Genuinely creepy, satirical and occasionally daft horror tales with a distinctly moral bent.

A great collection of creepy tales similar to the Stephen King short story books (Night Shift, Skeleton Crew) with a horror comic storyline threading everything together. I saw this movie on HBO at way too young of an age and I'll probably never forget the scenes of Ted Danson buried up to his neck in sand as the tide rolls in, or the **** pouring out of a man's mouth. Burned into my brain forever.

My god is this corny, but it's fun! I can watch this one again and again. Each story has it's own unique charm to it, even the second story which stars Stephen King himself! This one's Iconic and a classic for a reason.

What they've done here is to recapture not only the look and the storylines of old horror comics, but also the peculiar feeling of poetic justice that permeated their pages. In an EC horror story, unspeakable things happened to people - but, for the most part, they deserved them.

Most of the time Creepshow works.

Creepshow is probably not everything the fans of each horrormeister hoped it would be (it is not, for example, in the same league as Cavalcanti's great anthology film, Dead of Night), but it's probably enough.[10 Nov 1982]

Romero and King want to be as unsophisticated as possible, while maintaining a sense of humor, and they succeed all too well. The characters, story lines and images are studiously one-dimensional. For anyone over 12 there's not much pleasure to be had watching two masters of horror deliberately working beneath themselves. Creepshow is a faux naif horror film: too arch to be truly scary, too elemental to succeed as satire. [22 Nov 1982, p.118]

The best things about Creepshow are its carefully simulated comic-book tackiness and the gusto with which some good actors assume silly positions. Horror film purists may object to the levity even though failed, as a lot of it is.

A series of horror-comedy films featuring mini-stories, the first two of which are Stephen King, translated in 1982, 1987, and 2007. Villains and oppressors win in most of the stories. Those who were killed are resurrected and take revenge. Stories are fun. As a concept, an illustrated magazine atmosphere is created for the audience. Nudity prevails in some stories. The paths of the characters in the stories in the last chapter somehow cross.

I was so terrified of this movie as a kid. Now that im older its not so scary at all. Still a good movie even tho its old and poorly made.

While two of the stories were okay and actually entertaining, the rest of them were boring, stupid and just plain bad. The acting was beyond bad, the writing was stupid and some segments were cut too short. At least the practical effects were quite good and the movie had good gory moments.

It was a dirty print. I wasn't sure about the comic-book style but I guess it worked. Sadly it all looks very dated. The sound worked. There was nothing bad about it but there was nothing memorable about it either. Father's Day: Reminded me of Return of the Living Dead III (1993) but nowhere near as good. The Lonesome Death of Jordy Verrill: Reminded me of Slither (2006) but nowhere near as good although better than previous. Something to Tide You Over: Predictable zombie retribution boredom. The Crate: The monster from Congo (1995) but better although still boring. They're Creeping Up On You: Lots of gross bugs. Overall: Dated badly with old-fashioned filmmaking. The second story in the anthology was the best.

The only one worth watching was Sometime to Tide You Over. The rest you can honestly skip. As a whole, It's a poorly acted film at best that fails to capture what made the early horror comics like Tales from the Crypt so good.
