At its heart, this is a sincere story, a billet-doux to the people who love cinema enough to make it their lives. As the movie unites the scattered gang in the mountains during Andréa’s shoot, it enacts its message: Filmmaking is not only a business, but a loving and lovable community.

These friendships feel so genuine that they stop the film’s relentless comedy of errors . . . from ever tipping into farce.

Overall, it’s a triumph and hopefully this won’t be the last time we tread the red carpet with the former ASK-ers. Surely there’s another disaster of a movie project they could get sucked into. After all, times may change, stars may flare and fade, but there will always be some insufferable new actor needing to be navigated through their latest project. C’est la vie.

Time Out
It’s not going to convert newbies, but for those of us tuning in for one last nostalgic fix, it’s perfect. Herrero’s script remains true to the characters while moving them believably on.

Other than its two-hour runtime, there’s not much to distinguish the movie from an episode of the show, but that’s probably as it should be: When a beloved series becomes a movie, there’s no reason, or desire, to reinvent the wheel.

The Travers Take
The French comic souffle about star egos and agent feuds that we adored for five years on TV is back as a movie still gleefully eager to bite the hand that feeds it.

Whatever get-everybody-in-here fan service the producers had in mind, this film wants to be a streamlined farce. Situations and characters give us that expectation. But it never gets up that head of speed necessary to turn giddy.

Was it due to Covid that we all loved this show so much? Because if the movie is any indication we were all wrong. It's bad. Just bad. Don't believe me. Just watch the first five minutes of mindless exposition given by one of the characters I liked in the show and hate in the movie.
