Anyone But You, from director Will Gluck and co-writer Ilana Wolpert, has the charm, wit, swoony romance, and, most importantly, star chemistry that has been solely missing from recent lackluster entries in the genre.

Anyone But You is a rom-com for the age of antipathy. It is, in many ways, as prefab as a lot of the rom-coms of the ’90s and aughts, but there’s something zesty and bracing about how it channels the anti-romanticism of the Tinder-meets-MeToo generation.

I just loved this movie… Saw it twice already. The leads are obviously great but many of the side characters just had me rolling in my seat. I would recommend this to any romcom fan.

This movie was one I hadn't expected to be so good but I thoroughly enjoyed it and the chemistry on screen between Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney was on point. This is a great romantic comedy with many fun moments of comedy and shock alike and the allure of pretending to be in a fake relationship with a person they found magnetically attractive at meeting then developed a serious case of mutual detest makes for a fun watch that I found quite enjoyable. Undoubtedly the lead characters have a cute evolving connection that made it a good film for rom com fans.

It’s a satisfying return to the genre from Gluck, a promising feature-length script debut from Wolpert, and an intriguing first outing from Sweeney and Powell. The two stars have the stuff; it just needs some more refining before round two.

At the very least, it’s not Shakespeare. It’s not even “10 Things I Hate About You.”

Anyone But You is about as close as Hollywood can get to a rom-com that works these days. Which is to say, “Not terribly close,” even though it’s not exactly terrible.

It's early 2000s rom-com all over again release in recent time and the differences is that Anyone But You was actually one of the good callbacks to it, it's the one that made pure from the hearts from everybody's working on it, the film was so much fun, it's funny, it's entertaining, it's heartwarming, and it's well acted, Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney chemistry was perfect and not that i've seen before, full love hate relationship efforts and chemistry that's really working that it made me became one of the people who now actually want them together because they're love hate relationship convince me enough and it's great, the rest of the cast were also fun, and when it's sweet it's sweet, some criticism that i have with the movie was although it's only 103 minutes short i do felt it became a bit too long towards the end but still overall i have a really good time with Anyone But You, it's not one of those cheesy no chemistry rom-com callbacks that are randomly made with no hearts, they actually do poured it in this one and it works.

Anyone But You is a romantic comedy that knows exactly what it is and what it offers: two people who are attracted to each other, reject each other, bicker, and keep orbiting around one another until the script decides it’s time. Everything is there, in order and without many surprises. It works… but without **** film relies almost entirely on the charisma and attractiveness of its leads. Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell have presence, energy, and know how to move within this type of story, although the chemistry between them is uneven. There are moments when they click and others where the relationship seems to move forward more by inertia than by genuine emotional **** main problem lies in the script. The starting idea is pleasant and the enemies-to-lovers dynamic has potential, but the dialogue rarely shines and the humor stays in a very safe zone. You smile more than you laugh, and many situations feel stretched to fill running time rather than to build something memorable.Visually, it’s bright, attractive, and very aware of its packaging: beautiful locations, perfect bodies, and a constant sense of summery escapism. In that sense, it delivers. It’s a film that goes down easily, doesn’t offend, and probably works better as light entertainment than as a romantic story with real weight.Anyone But You isn’t going to reinvent the romantic comedy, nor does it try to. It’s correct, entertaining, and easy to watch, but also easy to forget. One of those films you enjoy in the moment… and shortly after, you’re already thinking about the next one.

Even the highly watchable and sexually charged pairing of Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney cannot save this film, which is filled with crude jokes and a clichéd plot. This is a typical example of overemphasizing a star's appearance while neglecting the internal development of their character.

The great production quality just can't hide the flat performance from Sweeney and the subsequent lack of chemistry between the two leads. From the small amount i watched the writing was so poor with flat sad characters that are filled with vitriol and seemed so superficial and inhuman to me. Stopped watching after 10 mins. There's something to be said for having longer shots with quieter moments and less emphasis on hastily edited sequences which can build the characters up to greater emotional payoffs too. Sweeney was so good in euphoria but the writing here dragged her through the hollyweird mud. Ultimately I dont think this movie was for me. 1995s pride and prejudice however.....

Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell are a great duo. I've always liked them both as well as Alexandra Shipp who is always great. But the script is short on substance and style and that's the problem. If a rom com isn't emotionally engaging like Crazy Rich Asians, or isn't flat out funny like Meet the **** or touching like 50 First Dates, then it becomes a messy attempt at trying to get to that sweet spot of blending tight writing, complete character development, and a delicious emotional center, all the things Anything But You lacks. Too bad cause I'm always rooting for Powell and Sweeney as actors. Better films await.
