102 Dalmatians is a disappointing sequel that feels like a corporate cash-grab, failing to capture the charm of the 1996 original. The film’s saving grace is Glenn Close, who delivers a fabulously wicked, scene-stealing performance as Cruella de Vil, elevated by stunning costume design. The dalmatian puppies remain adorable, and the practical sets are vibrant. However, the rest of the movie falls flat. The new human leads are painfully bland, and Gérard Depardieu’s cartoonish secondary villain is cringey. Noisy non-canine sidekicks, like a macaw with an identity crisis, steal screen time from the pups, while outdated CGI constantly breaks immersion. The film's biggest flaw is its jarring tone, wildly shifting between insulting slapstick and surprisingly sadistic scenes too dark for a G-rating. Ultimately, it’s a forgettable rehash that relies entirely on cute animals and an iconic villain to mask a weak script.

102 Dalmatians feels like one of those sequels that exists mostly because the first movie was successful. It’s not completely unwatchable, and there are a few charming moments thanks to the dogs, but overall it feels much weaker and more forced than its **** biggest problem is that the movie relies too heavily on the same formula without bringing much that feels fresh. A lot of the humor is loud rather than genuinely funny, and the story quickly becomes predictable. Even for a family film, it feels overly cartoonish at times. The plot keeps moving, but it never really gives you a reason to care about what’s happening beyond watching cute dogs run around.Glenn Close is still clearly having fun as Cruella de Vil, and honestly she's the main reason the movie remains somewhat entertaining. Her performance has so much energy that she manages to elevate scenes that would otherwise fall completely flat. Unfortunately, the rest of the cast and story can't really keep up.Another issue is that the movie feels strangely padded. There are several sequences that drag on longer than they should, and the film often mistakes chaos for excitement. Instead of building tension or emotional investment, it mostly jumps from one goofy situation to the next.Overall, 102 Dalmatians isn't a disaster, but it feels unnecessary and forgettable. The dogs are cute, Glenn Close does her best, but that's about all I took away from it. A pretty easy 3/10 for me — harmless enough, but nowhere near as enjoyable as it wants to be.

The worst disney live action remake and one of the worst sequels in cinema history.

The first film was a nice one, but it is not as good as the wonderful animated classic which I found more poignant and endearing. This sequel is inferior, but not bad at all. Sure the slapstick is too much, the script has its weak spots and the plot is a tad uninspired. But the dogs are very cute here, and Eric Idle is hilarious as the macaw. The film is nice to look at with stylish cinematography and eye popping costumes(especially Cruella's), and the music is pleasant. The acting is mostly very good, Ioan Gruffudd is appealing and Gerard Depardieu while he has given better performances has fun as Cruella's accomplice. But the best asset, as it was with the first film, is the amazing Glenn Close in a deliciously over-the-top performance as Cruella, even more evil than she was previously. Overall, nice. 7/10 Bethany Cox

"101 Dalmatians", in its 1996 live action version, was a very interesting movie that was part of my childhood. Even today, seeing that movie, I remember those times and, of course, it had one of Glenn Close's biggest performances. Unfortunately, I can't be so generous with this movie, that continued this story. In fact, the first movie's script was so tightly closed that it was very difficult to give it continuity. The human characters, in this story, are totally distinct and do not appear in the first film, except for the great villain (who could not miss) and his servant, Alonso, always ready to be humiliated. It is up to them, and the dogs, to make the connection with the first story because, supposedly, the adult dogs of this movie were some of the puppies of the initial movie. Sound fragile? If it sounds, it is. The way Cruella is cured seems unreliable, but even more unlikely is the way she turns again who she has always been (even though that gives us one of the brightest scenes in this movie: Cruella in full transformation, hallucinating in the streets of London). Puppies are still cute, but that doesn't work as well as it did the first time, and the parrot can sometimes be truly annoying. Finally, I also felt a pace problem here: if the movie develops normally for the beginning, it accelerates sharply in the final half and runs to a sudden conclusion in a bakery. What ultimately saves this movie are the excellent performances of Glenn Close (yet far from the impact she had on the first movie) and Gerard Depardieu, as one of Cruella's accomplices. The villain partnership turned out badly in the movie, but both actors showed excellent understanding in front of the camera. Tim McInnerny is still funny... but all the other actors can't keep up with this trio and just show up, talk and do what they have to do.

The adorable puppies called the 101 Dalmatians are back and this time, they got themselves a new puppy to play with. Wearing off the best of the 1996 film, 102 Dalmatians will bring the dog food rumbling all over the ground.

Why does this movie exists...? Does 101 Dalmatians demanded the story to continue? Did the fans of the original wanted a sequel so badly? Why did creators of this movie believed that there was any possibility of making this a good movie out of such a dumb story like this? I can hardly remember the plot, the characters are forgettable, clumsy editing and weak directing... Maybe the cutie animals can keep the interest of the young ones and maybe the humor, but I still find this film to be very bad; I don't recommend it.

I don't like the sequel as much as the original, but hey come on it is hard to beat, the first one is a classic. However, this one has new lovable characters such as Waddlesworth the parrot who thinks he's a dog, and of course my favourite Oddball who hasn't got any S P O T S! It is a very comical and adorable movie. The puppies are so cute and it's definitely worth a watch for any child or disney lover.

I was still a child when I saw this movie, but I quickly realized it was just a cheap copy of the first. I wondered to myself what the difference was this film compared to the previous one, and came to the conclusion that the only difference was an extra dog.
