When it comes to dualstick shooters you don’t have to ask me twice. Nonetheless Zotrix isn’t love at first sight. But if you get used to the quirky arcady feel à la Galaga where positioning is as important as reflexes you might develop an interesting friendship.

While the mechanics are enticing, it’s far from standing out as an otherwise satisfying experience.

Zotrix is a bit of a rough ride that turns to cinders under scrutiny.

Game has several interesting plots, and the story mode is intriguing, but it is an absolute lagg fest. The controls are way beyond horrible, and makes navigating the menus a nightmare.
4
This game tries to be interesting with by being a shootem-up that you can mine resources and customize your ship. Fails terribly in execution. Worst menus I have ever seen. Every mission is the same. Boring. Nope.

While the retro graphics are a tad unsophisticated, Zotrix has a catchy techno soundtrack, which gives the game a lively feel. While there are definite drawbacks that come in the form of difficult controls, repetitious levels and an uneventful story, if you are a fan of classic arcade shooters, you will definitely enjoy the simplicity of this game.

Zotrix could've been a spectacular homage to old-school shooters had the developers focused on tighter controls and a simpler menu interface. As it stands, though, it's deeply flawed, though some players will find mileage out of it due to its vast offerings and spectacular soundtrack. Give it a try before you buy if you can, just to see if the test drive is worth it.

Zotrix is a decent if unambitious twin-stick shooter with smooth, fluid controls that are well suited to pick up and play sessions. A steep difficulty curve means that you will need patience, while the awful UI makes it a challenge to navigate the title's menus. We'd recommend this if you're desperate for an arcade-inspired blaster, but otherwise leave it in a galaxy far, far away.

Some enjoyment can be found in Zotrix, if you can get past all of the technical issues that plague the game. However if that doesn’t ruin the experience, the menu interface sure will. It can ruin all enjoyment of the game.
