World of Final Fantasy: A Promising Universe for a Lifeless. AdventureWorld of Final Fantasy had everything on paper to be appealing: a colorful world, a concept that crosses different Final Fantasy universes, and a return to turn-based gameplay. Unfortunately, behind this promising facade, the experience quickly turns out to be **** world, while visually charming, isn’t enough to save the whole. The story is painfully uninteresting: it struggles to captivate, and both the stakes and the characters feel flat and forgettable. The desire to keep playing fades quickly as the plot lacks any real depth or **** gameplay, based on a creature-capturing system, aims for nostalgia but ends up being discouragingly slow. Battles lack dynamism, and the repetitive nature of capturing monsters weighs heavily on the overall pace of the game. What could have been an enjoyable mechanic soon becomes a drag on the entire experience. As for the soundtrack — usually a strong point in the Final Fantasy series — it disappoints here as well. Very few tracks are memorable, and the overall musical atmosphere feels functional but completely lacking in **** short, World of Final Fantasy is a bland experience. Despite a universe that had the potential to be much more captivating, its flat story, sluggish gameplay, and forgettable music make it a minor and easily forgettable entry in the great Final Fantasy saga.

World of Final Fantasy is a game directed towards longtime fans of the franchise. The story is surprisingly emersive and the characters are cool. The gameplay is exactly what you would expect from a turn based RPG. Graphics and music are good too.

I would rate this higher if the game had been advertised for what it is: FF pokemon. It wasn;t. I bought this based on ads and the actual description on the game and by Square/Enix and discovered a few hours in what it was truly about. this would have made a mobile game or even a gatcha game. They passed it off as a main series spin off. Spin off alright, right into a completely unrelated game category. Someday copies of this may be worth money, it is going to become scarce as people toss it out of their collections.

Both ridiculously dumb in plot and gameplay but it is so bad it becomes funny.

This game probably should get a higher rating if the battle system was a lot better and a lot less of a slog. The story (at least up to chapter 15) is witty and lighthearted in a series that's gotten very grimdark over the years. The characters do look a little ugly, but the scenery is quite nice. The stacking system is fairly unique and the capturing system is solid enough. It's just that the battles are such a slog. Magic attacks are the only useful attacks, but you don't get enough AP and you'll eventually run out of ethers. Then, it becomes your characters missing physical attacks at an incredibly high clip. I've even checked to make sure my characters weren't blinded somehow, and in most cases they were not. Accuracy nodes would be the most important things to unlock on mirage boards if they worked. It just feels like artificial difficulty and it doesn't matter what level your characters are at compared to the monsters. It just got too much, I was hoping battling would get better but it never did.

Final Fantasy and... Pokémon? Yeah, you read that right. World of Final Fantasy marries the story and turn-based combat of a Final Fantasy game with the catching mechanic of a Pokémon game. The story is pretty good. It takes you through areas designed from previous Final Fantasy games, where you also run into and do missions for characters from those same games. However, those areas you go through are one of the main missteps this game makes. While some of the areas are really nicely designed and gorgeous to look at, other areas take on a very bland and hallway like appearance. With two specific areas being completely unacceptable as they just copy paste themselves over and over again, and they just go on and on and on. The combat and monster catching Pokémon style is amazing. There are so many different systems at work it's honestly amazing that they got everything to work together as well as it does. In combat to catch a monster you have to have it enter a state called a "prismtunity", which is indicated by a flashing aura around the monster . You can then use a prism which is basically a pokeball to attempt a catch and yes a monster can break out of your catch. How you create a prismtunity varies from monster to monster, some can be as simple as just dealing damage, while others you might have to use a magic element its weak to while others you might have to inflict a status ailment. This is all explained pretty well in game, one thing I don't remember the game explaining is that you can create multiple prismtunities on the same monster at the same time. Doing this increases your catch chance. The monsters themselves come in sizes small, medium and large in which you can create a "stack". A stack is a small on top of a medium on top of a large. Each monster has its own unique ability board, in which they can unlock stat increases, abilities and even evolve your monsters into stronger monsters once they reach certain level requirements. This is where the stack mechanic really gets interesting as monsters that are in a stack share any of their unlocked abilities, stat boosts, strengths and weaknesses. Some monsters synergize really well together and I had a lot of fun combing through all the different monsters until I found combinations that I really fell in love with. There are also summons of which there are two different types. There are champion medals that summon a champion which is typically a main character from a previous Final Fantasy game. These typically do damage and provide a stat boost. Then there are the summons that replace the monsters you have in combat and you take direct control of. These are very powerful summons and are usually only found as the final stage evolutions for certain monsters. The only thing I really have negative to say about the combat as a whole is some of the boss fights are really unfair to the point you have to have your stacks set up a certain way to even survive their signature attacks. The two main characters named Reynn and Lann are brother and sister and I liked them. They aren't the most memorable of characters but I had some nice laughs with their interactions with some of the other characters in the game. The brother is the goofy comedy relief while the sister is the serious one who helps the player understand the story. World of Final Fantasy is one of the better Final Fantasy experiences out there and is in my top 3 Final Fantasy games and of course one I highly recommend if you are a fan of the franchise. You will see a lot of characters from previous Final Fantasy games, that will really give you feels of nostalgia. *There is DLC for the game that I have not played yet even though I really should. I will update this when I do get around to playing said DLC.

World of Final Fantasy is a rather solid Pokémon clone. Due to a lighter, slightly more shallow story which leans heavily on Final Fantasy fanservice, this kid-friendly spin-off might really only cater to existing fans; however, there is plenty of charm to be had to endear itself to those fans. It's the sort of game where I wouldn't mind a sequel.

I didn't plan to play this game. First of all because I don't like this trend of big-head characters but you get used to it soon, but I also played this game because I ran out of games. Let's start saying that although it's not a bad a game it's far from being great. I don't think this game deserves more than a 7. Graphics are ok, nothing impressive. The plot is quite meh... Also, the last labyrinths became tedious. And some enemies of the secret ending had too much life (you can beat them without grinding but it will be a long battle). Another thing is that there's no auto safe but you can only save over the last saved game so it really don't have any sense. About the rewards, is there any reason why you have to claim the reward when you finish a mission? This is so outdated! One last thing would be that, although voices are good they don't match with the lips (at least in English). It took me 40 hours to beat the game and 12 more to reach the final end. To sum up, play this game only when you have already beaten your good games and if you like turn based RPGs.

A charming and enjoyable homage to Final Fantasy. It has an interesting game mechanic and the Pokemon get them all bonus. However the story gets really dark later on and after one twist I despise the main characters with passion and want them to pay for their actions (I will give you the choice to read a comparative example at the end). This seems strange when you played the first hours and I agree. But lets start at the beginning: It is a turn based RPG where you play as the siblings Lann and Reynn as they want to find out more about their (forgotten) past and the strange state of the world. They travel trough the world of Grymore which is a world made out of Final Fantasy games, themes, characters and stories mixed together. This is a great experience for all Final Fantasy fans as it is enjoyable and nostalgic. The two protagonist are relatable, enjoyable and enhance the story (until the twist). They could have been my favorite protagonists or in the top 10 at least for Square-Enix games. The world is familiar and fresh at the same time. It is a bonus to meet Final Fantasy characters, discovered themes and feel nostalgia. I am not sure if it is an equal experience for people that have not played previous games. Gameplay-wise it has elements from Pokemon. You are catching monsters and use them in battle. There is however an innovation. You can and should build towers with your characters and two monsters (1 tower per character). These towers have the combined stats and abilities of all involved characters. Monsters come in 3 sizes small, medium and large. Your main characters can switch from normal form (medium size) to chibi or small form. Bottom must be a large monster, the middle a medium sized one and the top of the tower a small one. There are many combinations to be tested and it is an immense pleasure to experiment and acquire new monsters. There are also some with combo attacks if used together (For example the two hand like monsters). Be warned if you get hit enough and lose balance the tower collapses and your characters are in a weakened state. The monster design is good and has staples and new ones. The various monster princesses are quite effective if you can beat them ;-). The graphics are beautiful and for the soundtrack they chose countless tracks from previous games. Must I even say that the music is excellent in Final Fantasy? There are countless orchestral performances out there and some are available on YouTube. Everything looks good and the music from Final Fantasy enhances the experience. There are however negatives. Like already mentioned the twist ruined the main characters for me. Then some battles get boring. Not because of difficulty reasons. It is that the enemies have to much health while they are not strong enough to wipe me out or come close to kill my characters. Especially the additional ending requires a lot of these fights. Remark: Because of the Pokemon nature I had already a higher level because I want to capture all monsters. It is maybe a bit too long at the end. Overall this was a refreshing and enjoyable experience. I want to see a sequel. However the negative drag it down a bit. Maybe a 9/10 without the twist and boring parts at the end. Comparative example for the plot twist (Warning: No spoiler for me, more of a warning. May be a spoiler for some or borderline to a spoiler for others). I know about Godwin’s law regarding ****. But here it is a fitting example and that is really the core of the problem. Think that your characters have enabled **** rise to power as sole force for his success (to be fair with noble intentions). While they could not know the ramifications they were warned clearly as they later ignored all warnings and stopped the person that wanted to prevent them from this madness with violence.

I want to like this game, really. It has unique mechanics and offers a wide selection of interesting team combinations. Sadly the game doesn't really offer you any content were you'd need it. On top of it the story is unbearable dull, the protagonists are annoying, sequences are often drawn out and boring. There also are a ton of battles hard scripted for you to loose (even if you grind to be able to win them in theory the enemy will become invulnerable at 1HP). The combat mechanics are interesting, but everything else is just more annoying than interesting.

A nice JRPG with a pokemon feel to it. You capture a bunch of creatures called "mirages" and combine them into stacks of 3 for battle. It doesn't feel like an official Final Fantasy title because it's not, it is a spin off having cameo's of the final fantasy universe in it.

I actually really enjoyed this game, it's FF meets Pokemon, and surprisingly it's very good, the main flaw I feel that people have with the game, (myself included) is the art style, the chibi art style really killed it, not sure why Square did what they did, but they did, so now it is what it is, so if you can look past the art style then try out this game, it's loads of fun, i promise.

this game was very poorly designed also the writers are bad and should feel bad. i got to level 55 before learning about champions and i wouldn't have found it if i didn't google it, for being a core part of the game that should never happen.

As a Final Fantasy veteran (been playing since the original), I was wondering who this game was for. 95% of the game is a reference to older Final Fantasy games, but the story, mechanics, and combat are all quite simple. It's a great game for kids/teens ages 9-17, since it teaches them the basics of JRPGs and turn-based combat without being difficult, but they won't get the references. So I feel that this game would work best for kids while their Final Fantasy fan parents watch. Parents could interject now and then and explain who is who and why they are important. As far as playing it as a Final Fantasy Fan parent, it's quite average and not very interesting, unless you love monster collecting or pokemon-type games. The story is average. You're two bobble-headed kids who have monster-capturing powers and have lost your memories. You spend most of the game catching monsters to recover your memory. While doing so, you find that the world is being taken over by an evil ruler, and of course, your paths intersect. Near the end of the game, you recover your memories and learn the truth of everything. The ending sequences provide a great lesson for children and teens, but the average adult might find it lacking or juvenile. The combat is basic, along the lines of the First Final fantasy (but much easier). The active time battle system is included, but that always seemed more like an unnecessary gimmick to me than actually adding something useful or fun. Thankfully, you can put it on wait mode (it waits while you input commands), if you want to try to interject strategy into the combat. But unfortunately, it's not really necessary since the game is easy and you can auto-attack through every non-boss encounter, (until the post-game) as long as you set up your party wisely. I was hoping for turn-based combat that requires more strategy (like the Atelier series of games), but didn't find it here. Well, at least it is serviceable with no flaws. Note to Square Enix: When people say they want turn-based games, they don't mean they want the bare basics of a turn-based game. You must add variety and enough challenge to require strategizing. If you can auto-attack your way though the game, then something is wrong. The most unique part of the game is the monster leveling-up and stacking system. You can have up to 6 party members/monsters or 2 stacks (of 3 party members each) participate in battle. For the most part, having your party unstacked puts you at a disadvantage, so you'll rarely want to be unstacked. The monster leveling is quite addictive. They each have mini level-up grids that unlock stats and abilities, some of which can be used in the monster's other forms. Each monster has several paths they can take and no level-up points are wasted: You can switch your monster to another of it's forms or to a completely different monster tree at no cost and at any save point. The only downside to monster leveling is that by the end of the game, you might have only completed a few monster trees. I wanted to level them up even more (even though there were no real challenges left), so I did a bit of the post-game content. But those dungeons were so much harder and didn't give adequate experience, so it was more efficient to farm prior dungeons. At that point, I realized I was just grinding for the sake of it and I lost all interest in the game. I did get the Japanese voices, so listened to them only. The dialogue is full of jokes and puns, so they did a lot of changes to the English script. So you basically get dub-titles. There's no serious issues with it and the changes are mostly limited to those jokes and puns. Though here's hoping that future games have real subtitles. To summarize, it's a great monster-collecting/upgrading game for kids (or for people who like kids games - nothing wrong with that). It's quite simple though, so won't hold much interest for some adults or people who want strategy or challenge in their JRPGs.

+ The last part of the story is amazing. Why wasn't the whole of the story this interesting. + The music is very good and has new versions of classic songs though I prefer the orignals. - There needs to be more game between doing dungeons. More event moments. - The story though most of it isn't interesting though it is pretty funny. - You spend way too much time doing dungeons and some are extremely long and tedious. - Becomes too easy later one. Makes later dungeons boring and those are the longer ones. - Towns are pointless besides been places to get bad fetch quests. Only the Hub town is needed. - The towns would be better if they looked more like the towns they are based on. - The small "lilikin" characters didn't appeals to me at all. Only in the game for easy animation.

Ok, story development zero. Lann being annoying negative 10. Mini games to score the Platinum trophy so poorly designed -200. All around a very poorly developed game that I wish I never started playing not up to normal final fantasy par by any means. Seriously did I mention the battleship mini game!? I want to destroy whomever at Square Enid ever thought this up as an excuse for passing time in a Final Fantasy game. Seriously what a WASTE of gamer time!!

Good game. May turn off a lot of impatient players at first, considering that the tutorial character is no less annoying than Jar Jar Binks. Get over and past our the-dear little Tama, and you'll be having a lot of the-fun in a game that takes elements from Pokemon and FF, the-both, and makes something the-enjoyable for children and adults alike. (If the random "the" bothered you, Tama will annoy the **** out of you. Good luck!)

At its core, WoFF is little more than a fan service title featuring a gimmicky combat system that is uninspired and feels more like a pokemon ripoff than a Final Fantasy game. Many mechanics are geared towards children and sacrifice complexity and compelling story and game mechanics in an effort to dumb down its own working mechanics to the lowest common denominator. WoFF offers a chibi-style aesthetic that may be a turn off for some; however in all honesty it pairs rather well with the light hearted and comical approach the game takes with atmosphere and dialogue. The story is geared towards children and/or those gamers who really do not want complexity or dark tones in their games. In terms of comedy, the game is rather hit or miss. This is because of the Japanese reliance on exaggeration of movements and tones, a practice that does not always translate to a Western audience. Combat wise, the game is pretty much a Frankenstein attempt at combining Pokemon and Final Fantasy, which is just annoying and get in its own way as the game progresses. All in all, WoFF is a game for either the most dedicated Final Fantasy fans, Children, or someone who really wants a very light hearted game.

The dialogue in this game is horrible along with the art style. The gameplay is good but the random encounters are terrible and outdated and can be very annoying. Tama is the definition of a horrendous character along with Lann. The story is also very dumb. Though I will say the graphics and the music is nice

As a Final Fantasy lover i liked this game. Too much fan service, some funny moments and pokemon alike combat system feels good for me. * Average graphics, which doesn't impress but doesn't make your eyes bleed at all. Cute colorful graphics doesn't feel too childish yet mature. * Soundtrack is good like most other FF. Some spin-offs from other FF soundtracks. * Story is nicely build between world of final fantasies. The ending parts are really good. * Combats are turn-based , good at it. Last word : Must buy if you are Final Fantasy fan. You can still buy it if you are into turn based JRPGs. Overall a good experience.

Hyper fan service. Gameplay is simple, yet addicting. Voice acting/Dialogue is 90% of the time funny as S**T, and also they got most of the original voice acting cast on this game from previous titles. I can't count the times this games got me smiling because of nostalgy and witty dialogue. I am only half-way through and i am enjoying it leaps an bounds. This is THE definite nostalgy-trip for long-lived fans of the final fantasy franchise. Even if you don't enjoy the chibi-kind of presentation, this is something to keep you entertained until the Final Fantasy VII Remake hits the stores. I did almost roll off a tear or a couple. Long live The Final Fantasy.

I am a HUGE Final Fantasy nerd and I was crazy in love with the concept of this game. It just oozed fan service. But... the moment I played the beta/demo I felt something was wrong. It felt kinda boring, to be honest. But I kept my hopes high and got the game day one. And it's not that I am/was disappointed. I am/was not. The game can be a lot of fun, the story has some interesting moments, the turn based mechanics (although very simple) are old school in the best way possible, the heroes are ok, the graphics are pure eye candy; I mean, the game is filled with nice things and, indeed, as a concept, it's an interesting game. But the thing is... it is still kind of boring, I am not going to lie. I enjoyed it, I liked the story, and got a bit hooked by the whole "gotta catch em all" thing. I honestly don't know what is missing (maybe they shouldn't have complicated the catch mechanics so much), I don't know. I was losing interest half way, to be honest. But it is a true (ish) Final Fantasy game that all fans should play. This is a product of love, don't get me wrong. It's just not the great game I thought It was going to be.

This is the game Pokemon should be. Nintendo and Game Freaks should be ashamed of themselves. This is a combination of Kingdom Hearts, for visuals and feel. Pokemon as the games essence - RPG-based capturing and evolution. With all the characters, and creatures, being of previous Final Fantasy games. All tied up with an immersive world, story and characters. With crisp contemporary graphics, and well acted voice over work. If you like any of the aforementioned games, or all. Then this is the game for you. *EDIT* Okay, my original short statement was basically an FU to Nintendo, whilst also attempting to sum up the brilliance of this game in the shortest possibly way. That didn't go down so well, so here's another attempt. It's been a while now, and this game has aged... considerably well. Personally, 1 playthrough was enough. The story was brilliant, but the game itself dragged on waaaay too long. And that affects this style of game. Most Pokemon games (as referencing, because they are of the same genre) aren't that long, not need 30-50hrs+ just to do the main story. But this game does, and it means for most - as I'm presuming I'm in the majority - replaying the game again, for funsies, is a no-no and we're just going to keep our original save until the end of time. Especially if you've got all the mirages. Because there were some that were a "once only" deal, and you'd likely never want to try to get them again. But, that 1 play through was a great game, and I still remember it in detail. The hilariousness of the story, and the tie-in fan service of your favourite FF Heroes, monsters and villains was amazing. Done so well in fact that I was left wanting more. And I hope to high heaven there is a sequel. The game's style is cartoon-like, similar to Kingdom Hearts. But with added chibi-ness. Vibrant in colours, characters and dialogue that - though it has 0 sense of realism - is entirely immersive due to how warm and fun the game is. The gameplay does come across a little intensive, and confusing. At first. Especially if you've seen it out of context, or haven't been tutored. But it looks complicated, yet isn't, but has enough simple explanations with opening tutorials as well as depth, especially later in the game, to allow for you to challenge yourself on hard difficulties or with side bosses. Or heck, just trying to survive, meet mirage requirements, and to imprism them (basically, to capture). There's a variety of places from FFs old and new, as well as characters, but it's not so robust that it visits all areas, and uses characters from all games (meaning there could be a sequel, or atleast enough material for fresh new places if there was to be one. Here's hoping). And that the characters, and places, are alternate versions of those you know from their respective games, all existing in the world that WoFF is set in. To the point that there are characters existing in places outside their respective "game" (such as a character from FFV being in a FFI world, so on and so forth). And that there are characters from different points in the timeline of the same game. Which does work effectively at bringing to live some unusual, yet comedic, encounters between FF's old and new. All that aside, there is a variety of monsters. Know as Mirages. To encounter, imprism and record. With an extensive lore, through flavour text, for each you find that are equally as entertaining as they are interesting to read. Plus additional side quests that encapsulate a spin-off story of certain characters met along your journey, as well as a coliseum with it's own challenges, mini-games you fall across in-game and even online PVP. All of which have their own rewards. This game is bountiful in personality, and enjoyment. It's only weakness, as stated, is it's length. But it's new original characters, concept and use of an entire franchise spanning almost 3 decades is worth your time, and money. If Square had let you down with any of their past releases in the past few years (Just Cause 3, I am Setsuna, Star Ocean 5, so on and so forth) then this game will restore your faith in their ability to create new, fun and inspiring games. And let's hope for more from this series in the future.

I am kinda just astounded. a return to form for the final fantasy series. we knew it could be done nd had a sneak peak with award winning titles like bravely default and bravely second but now final fantasy takes back into its jRPG roots in a way that made big fans of the series awestruck. It has so much content and just feels like Ni mp kunis levels of wonderment at times. I find it superior to final fantasy 15 in its story telling (Sorry Every chapter on the trains ass final fantasy 15) This game needs more love and square Enix needs to know Fans want more of this!!

Man was this a fun little game. The experience of playing this as a final fantasy fan after not playing many new games (at the time) hyped me back into gaming, but sadly I just could not stay in it. The games story was alright for what it was, but it never stuck for me personally. The action was a good bit different from the normal final fantasy and I am not sure if they hurt it for me or not (by no means am I saying its bad, cause its a fun fighting system, but it was not what I was expecting) I would recommend this game now that its grip on the $60 price tag is loosened, and I consider it a steal at $20-$25.

Is this the best Final Fantasy (or loosely based upon the series) game? No. Is this a game with unquestionably great style choices? Also no. But is it a game for everyone? Again no, although sort of. I really enjoyed this game and could not turn it off. That is the reason for my 10 point rating. What is so great about the game? A simple but effective battle and party system. Comparing it to Pokemon is the obvious way to go, though it is very different. Throughout the game you catch characters and creatures from the series in a world that is loosely based upon other FF games. You stack these creatures with your main characters connecting their stats and abilities. Sounds simple but it gets conveniently complex. Style-wise some odd choices were made: mixing cute and somewhat realistic (anime) designs and altering cutscenes between in-game graphic and actual anime. That is one of the off-putting points. Also I doubt that non-FF fans will really enjoy the hints and allusions to the main series games. It might just be confusing to them. I enjoyed the game and wouldn't recommend to anybody who doesn't like RPGs to begin with. But if you like JRPGs and are not expecting too much in storytelling you should try swiping this game on discount if you can. It really could be worth your while and money.

I will rate this game by todays standard compared to other japanese RPGs. THIS is the route Final Fantasy should go. World of Final Fantasy is going back to the roots, to what made the series great. Its a testament that turn based combat is NOT something of the past and are still very enjoyable. A Final Fantasy 7 remake with this graphic and keeping the old combat system would be the best thing since FFX. The stacking system is inspired by the materia system from FF7 with different monsters having different skills that you can combine. Equip two monsters with Fira, and it turns into Firaga. Im not a fan of Chibi but the game is so superior to any FF since FFX i can overlook it.

WoFF is a full fledged and extremely polished RPG with high production values that Show in almost every aspect of the game. First and foremost - if you dont like Anime, especially the so called "chibi" design, then this game wont Appeal to you. Gameplay wise its a mix of traditional turn based ATB Battles like in the past FF Titles, as well as a Pokemon-light Monster Taming and Training Aspect. Hunting down Monsters, levelling them up and evolving them into new forms is a blast and highly addictive - that those Monsters are cute Versions of well known FF stereotype Monsters just increases the Fun for FF Fans. The combat System is deep enough to also give experienced Players enough to dig in, but very well explained for even the freshest Newcomers to the genre. The fact that you can build your own Team of Monsters that all Combine their powers make for some extremely satisfying Party set ups and keeps the battles fresh from start to finish. The graphics and the Soundtrack are - as expected - extremely well done: Environments are full of Detail and theres always a Fitting Soundtrack to be heard as well (although some voices are kinda .. Special lol). The appearance of former FF Heroes like Lightning, Cloud, Tifa and so on make this game a real love letter to all FF Fans. WoFF is lighthearted (but also Features some real tough challenges for the dedicated - just Sayin), technically flawless, the battle System is nothing groundbraking but rock-solid as well as entertaining from start to finish, with the Monster taming being the star of the Show here, which also helps to Keep things fresh and motivating. The only real downsides to this game are purely in the sight of the beholder: The battles are slow and repetitive (well, its a JRPG after all lol) so Action RPG Fans may fatigue. The Overall Story is pretty Standard and nothing groundbraking, and if youre really honest you could say its so lighthearted its immature and childish. And the character design is what most People may struggle with - many dont like the "Chibi" Look of the Characters. Id say otherwise - the chibi Versions look great, the "Adult Versions" of the Characters look like generic Kingdom Hearts rip-offs. And thats really all there is to complain about - WoFF is lenghty, loading times are almost non existent, graphics, Soundtrack and Gameplay are all exceptionally well crafted. I can recommend this to anyone that just loves traditional JRPGs and Pokemon Style Monstertraining - especially Final Fantasy Fans will get the most out of it, since almost anything in this game is a reference to one old FF Title. This high score is very well earned!

The main characters are so mind numbingly stupid that I got a concoction from all the face Palms I did to myself, but if your a final fantasy fan I guess it would be worth it

World of Final Fantasy suffers from a bad case of No Mans Sky syndrome; A neat idea that could've been executed so much better. While the game is a fun way to pass the time, visually great and has a story that can somewhat stand up on it's own two legs, I have major complaints with it. If a sequel was to be made, they'd need to nut out a few of these. 1 - The lack of difficulty scaling: The difficulty does not scale to your level. At all. What was just a little bit of grinding, ended up putting me so far ahead of the difficulty curve, I was able to speed through the rest of the game repeating the basic attack command (which is actually what I am doing while writing this review), with the exception of bosses and unwinnable conditions. 2 - The amount of times the game just gives you the middle finger: People over at Square must have serious control issues. There were numerous occasions were - at no fault of the player - the game would launch you into fights where you have 0% chance of winning unless you've grinded to the EXTREME. These are serious mood killers, and don't generally accelerate both the story and the XP bar. Seriously, most of them are due to silly mistakes which are either caused through the main characters stupidity or everyone elses stupidity. [This is where the Cinema Sins 'ding' sound is played]. 3 - Lack of 'Repels' - This game is basically what would happen if Pokemon had an affair with Final Fantasy and made a baby. There is pretty much no where in the wild that you cannot jump into a battle. Which annoys the hell out of me. Seriously, the amount of times I was one step away from a chest, a door or a save point and I fell into battle (which basically did nothing to me due to how over-levelled I was) seriously grinded my gears. 4 - Those frustrating imprisimtunity conditions: Jesus, this has to be the worst part in what could've been a great game. While I'm all for attempting to what would've been repetitive and boring after a while fun, they did it poorly at best. A lot of the time, in my attempt to be ready for spontaneous boss battles (yeah, those are a thing), I would equip only my highest level mirages. As such, I didn't always have the opportunity to capture other mirages, forcing me into a repetitive cycle in which I want to add a mirage to my team, but can't so I just stick with the team that's annihilating the competition, which only makes that team stronger, thus making it difficult to catch new mirages since I can't even wittle them down any more. Just give me Pokemon's way of doing it - damage + status affect + random chance = catch rate, so I can actually have a chance of catching them all. Not to mention a few occasions when I simply didn't have a mirage capable of even creating an imprismetunity, causing me to need to back-track. Boo to you game for pointlessly extending your 100% time. 5 - "GIMME GIMME": There is a mechanic in the game in which a sentient block will prevent you from advancing unless you bring a certain item which can only be found in a chest held within the dungeon. This is an extremely poor attempt to drive players to fully explore areas. They did it better when they explained the mechanic of secret areas with special exclusive mirages, but they kept those gimme gimme blocks, so I'm going to complain. 6 - Bad writing: Look, the story in itself isn't that bad, if you squint your eyes. When looking at it the writing is extremely lazy. Many MANY times, the best explanation they could come up with is "just coz," which is the absolute worst when it comes to writing. Especially when it's the answer to questions THEY [characters in game] ask. If it's not "just coz" it's because a god-like figure which refuses to stop holding our hands (even after saying they would) chose to make things easier for us. That, and one of the main protagonists, speaks in a weird way. Every so often they add "the-" to random words to that their the-conversations can sound like the-this. Which is the-annoying and makes want to the-tear my the-ears off. To add to that, the main antagonist's intentions are about as clear as who the main antagonist even is. And if you could figure that out, you're sherlock holmes. As for the main protagonist, they're clueless idiots who literally obey almost every command they are given, meaning that their growth is attributed to levels and their motivations are driven by other characters, not an internal desire. REALLY lowballing it, considering how great FF's and Kingdom Heart's stories were. TL;DR It's a bad game if you don't plan on just having it run in the background while you do other stuff. Otherwise, it's decent at best.

A fun, but grindy and repetitive experience. It feels like that there just aren't enough callbacks to the FF universe, odd as that sounds. The parts where you are re-exploring classic places and meeting the old characters are the best, but unfortunately they're too spaced apart by grindy, generic dungeons.

This game gets me all warm and fuzzy. It reminds me of the golden age of Squaresoft. It's perfect for Final Fantasy fans. The game is loaded with content and I absolutely love how simple the interface is and how traditional the gameplay is. I miss games like this when all we have are a sea of action RPG's in an open world, which are not the same.

Well WOFF is definetely a fun game but not the best. In this game you enjoy catching various creatures in a "pokemon" style. Its fun just to learn how to catch each type of mirage and using it on your own. The only thing that i disliked about this game is that some characters and monsters looked too childish. Probably a better game for kids

World of Final Fantasy Pokémon for PlayStation I’ve never actually played or completed a proper final fantasy game, but this didn’t stop me from absolutely loving this one, and while you don’t need to know anything about past games to enjoy, if you are already a fan of the universe, I feel you’ll enjoy this game even more as you do run into many memorable creatures and characters from many of the games, that even I recognized.. In World of Final Fantasy you play as twins Lann and Reynn who wake up with no memory, an empty town, an annoying creature named tama that says the every other the word, a mystery woman with a God complex, who tells them they are special… They are summonses that need to set out to recapture all of their mirages, get back their memory, and find their mom… fulfill a prophecy… I cared very little for the story, though it did do a great job of pulling emotions out of me... And the banter between the twins and tama who accompanies you on your journey like a Pikachu... is absolutely perfect and made me care for all 3… I just felt like cut scenes and dialog between the characters you run into are far too long, that eventually it just over stays its welcome… The game would’ve benefitted with cut scenes being much shorter and more spaced out… but they are practically everywhere and go on forever… Strange thing to complain about... but when you’re not invested, it can be a drag… What kept me going through this 30 hour journey was the very accessible and super addictive gameplay… If you love Pokémon, you’ll love this game as the idea is fairly parallel… Mirages are creatures you can capture… or in this case.. imrpism… Unlike Pokémon, you don’t have to buy poke balls in this game… the first time you run into a new mirage you automatically get a prism required to capture it… Some mirages however require specific conditions to be able to capture, which you can learn as well as its elemental weaknesses by scanning it during battle if you choose… Every mirage in this game has strengths and weaknesses, and as you capture them you can add up to 2 to your stack for both lann and reynn, meaning in total you bring 4 mirages into battle alongside you There’s a catch though… your stack can only consist of 1 small, 1 medium, and 1 large… And Lann and Ryyne take up one of these slots… which is where changing size comes into play… Giant form which takes up the large slot and allows you to have a medium and small mirage stacked on top of you... and a chibbi form which takes up the medium slot and allows you to have a large mirage underneath you and a small mirage on top of you… And when you add mirages to your stack their weaknesses hp, and strengths combine… so for example a water and fire stack would almost cancel weakness to water out… This also gives you all of that characters moves in battles…. There surprisingly isn’t much emphasis on grinding in this game… as I didn’t stop to grind once… everything scaled with me.. So I just fought everything I crossed paths with as I progressed… Battles are very simple, and turned based… How quick your turn comes compared to your opponent though is based on agility... so some really fast enemies may go twice before you get to go again… And in battle you can stack or un stack… of course both options having pros and cons… The pro of unstacking is that you have 6 separate attack opportunities… the con however is that your characters are vulnerable as your hp is split into 3.. much easier to lose a party member in battle… So I personally chose to play stacked each time… During battle you can scan for weakness, use any of the characters special moves that cost action points so they can’t be spammed…, but my biggest complaint is that there is no indication of the type of damage a certain move will do while in battle.. you just get the name of the move and have to make an educated guess… Thankfully the names are pretty great at giving you an idea.. but it would’ve been nice to know if you should waste so many action points on a move that would do less damage than a standard attack that costs 0… But a really great tool in battles is that you can press a button to repeat attacks as well as hold a button to fast forward a battle, making inconvenient battles fly by… much appreciated.. And you can eventually call in champions that you meet through the story… to do insane damage or heal your party... you can carry up to three at a time… but you have to fill a meter to use them, so it’s wise to only use them when you’re in real trouble… Which I didn’t find happened too much, as id rarely have to go to my item bag for healing… And at the end of the battle you earn xp for not only the 6 that battles, but 8% spread across the 6 extra mirages you can bring along your journey as well…. And all of the extras are stored, and can be accessed at save points… so there’s no limit on how many you can own… As your mirages level up they gain skill points.. And every single one of them has a unique skill tree where you can pick and choose which skills to boost and which moves to learn… You can even unlock transfigurations in this tree, which are essentially evolved forms… Practically all mirages can evolve into a larger form.. So when you’re ready to turn your medium to a large, you can shrink down to chili form and allow them to fill the large slot… the greatest thing about transfigurations though is that none of the mirages are stuck that way… You can make any of them smaller or larger at any time to help them fit the stack or your desired play style.. As again each transfiguration and mirages has its own skill tree… You may prefer the medium set up over the large, so you can evolve them down at save points… My biggest issue with the skill tree and transfigurations and the point I feel hurts the game the absolute most… what stops this game from being as fun and addicting as it possibly could is that far too many transfigurations have a question mark.. meaning you have to find a certain item, or that you have to run into that larger form in the wild before you can evolve it… That’s super lame and can leave your character having dozens and dozens of skill points unspent because you haven’t ran into its larger counterpart.. This isn’t the case for a handful of mirages.. But it is for a majority of then... and its super annoying and kills all reason to level grind if you chose to do so to unlock that form… If a sequel were to happen… the game would greatly benefit with having transfiguration tied to a level, and only a level… I understand some being tied to story progress… but for the others… keep it to a level... that’s what makes pokemon so fun… the maybe this time moment everytime you hit a new level… I shouldn’t have to wait on the game to have a stronger party.. I should be able to make my party stronger on my own… A really cool thing about transfigurations though is that some of the mirages have an XL version... You can’t put an XL character in your stack, but you can call them into battle, which brings your party to 7 characters and in turn more than doubles your hp… The overall level design can be a little frustrating though… You know those annoying caves in Pokémon where you run into zubat after zubat? Well those annoying caves are basically this entire game… There’s no safe spots other than towns... if youre walking you have the chance to be thrown into a random battle… which can definitely get annoying in some of the maze like puzzle sections of the game… The world also sort of forces you to have a great variety of mirages… This is where the extra 6 slot comes into play.. There are a handful of obstacles that require a mirage that can breather fire, smash, freeze, fly... just to name a few… So if youre a 1 type kind of person… its not going to work here.. you need variety… especially if you plan on reaching the chests in the game for pickups… that can of course just be bought instead… Overall World of Final Fantasy is a great game that’s super addictive and hard to put down.. Things start to fee; repetitive by the games end... but thankfully it takes a long time to get there… A few tweaks to transfigurations, information during battle, cutscnes that cut to the chase, and this series could become a master class of an experience… I give world of Final Fantasy an 8.5/10

The first 35 or so hours of this game is fantastic. If the game would've ended there, it would be an 8/10 game. The character designs are very cute (if you like Chibi style), and the voice acting (Japanese) is very good. But then they started to artificially lengthen the dungeons by basically copy and pasting the same thing over and over (Exnine Castle dungeon has 10 nearly identical maps you have to go through) and the final boss's difficulty spike is ridiculous. It took me 4-5 hours of walking in circles in Icicle Ridge to grind enough levels to finally beat it. This director also did Final Fantasy 13, so I can clearly see where the bad designs are coming from, I wish he would've learned from his previous game's shortcomings, but I guess not.

Beautiful, eye and ear catching, fan service to the core. Superficial, boring, trivial, auto-fire and please-skip-the-cut-scenes all the way. It reminded my how I miss Squaresoft.

This game is amazing for Final Fantasy fans. Although, some of the dialogue is cringe-worthy. The reason I'm giving this a low rating is because they released a broken patch for the PS4 pro that blurs the entire screen. If I'm paying full price on release date I expect a good experience. I had to uninstall the patch to have a reasonable look to the game.

Cute and charming, but devoid of any exciting gameplay. Expect to hold down the "speed up" button a lot while auto battle is on because you will very rarely need to do anything else.

Alex the Kidd, Gamers of the Round Table Square Enix brings Final Fantasy fans their favorite characters as they have never seen them before – as Chibi’s, in the whimsical World of Final Fantasy. Does this installment in the international franchise live up to the name, or does it fall flat as a childish attempt at a cash-grab? The Good The art direction for this title is inspired – taking from the franchises long past, characters from every Final Fantasy game make appearances throughout the world of Grymoire in Chibi form, small caricatures of their original character designs. Fans of the long running series will be happy to see many familiar faces, along with some new ones; this creates an inspired opportunity to reunite fans with their favorite FF characters, while introducing them to an entire roster of characters from past games they may never have experienced. The battle system has a learning curve, but the game makes it easy for players to pick it up and learn the ropes while providing witty dialogue that creates a connection between the protagonists and the player. This game does not take itself too seriously, both poking fun at the world itself, and breaking the fourth wall to point out the ridiculous nature of some of the situations. It’s this humour that makes the game as enjoyable as it is; players who can laugh along with the characters and enjoy lighthearted fun will be fans of this entry. The Bad The Chibi’s themselves may make this a difficult title for hard-core Final Fantasy fans to take seriously. While many of the characters from past installments retain their core personalities, there are many silly moments where the main protagonists make light of what could be otherwise tense situations. This is a very light-hearted game, and those fans who expect stoic or moody protagonists in their Final Fantasy game will most likely steer clear of this title. Rating 10/10 – World of Final Fantasy delivers a well thought out game, which is both nostalgic and refreshing for fans of the series. This is a game that players of all ages can enjoy; whether you are a long-time fan, or just dipping your toes into this series, the world of Grymoire awaits with all the wonders of Final Fantasy beckoning you. Will you answer the call for adventure?

Very bad game. The story is pretty much for children and the gameplay it's too simple and uninspired. Cute style, but that's all. The Vita version doesn't have any dub! That's ridicicoulous. Really disappointed

Beautiful game, excelent music, great humor, I love the turn based hybrid system, extensive campaing, random encounters could be a issue for some of the newest audience, but it's a nice game to at least try, someting clean and pure without needing to be childish like ninentdo franchises, nor being as serious like some of the darkests final fantasies, my daughters love it and we share the taste for this meaningful franchise on my life, and i'm happy new generations get to appreciate and share it with us.
