Wave Race: Blue Storm
92
Its airtight control, breathtaking weather effects, and stunning wave complexity combine for an irresistible racing experience.
It’s a great laugh in 4-player and the 1-player Championship mode is well tough to beat.
Not only is it the most beautiful racing game we’ve seen since SEGA’s "Ferrari F355 Challenge," but it’s also more playable—amazingly—than "WaveRace 64."

This game does not offer as much as I may have wanted. While you can unlock some interesting levels via code entries and am able to ride a dolphin, this game lacks something. I know, I said it before, but it does. I feel empty after playing it. Maybe I am spoiled by all the games with all the hidden extras and limitless features, who knows? This game is modest and is worth a play. If you liked the first Wave Race, you will love this. Do not forget your wet suit and enjoy!

This is a really fun game. It's definitely better than the original Wave Race. Sadly, it never got a price drop in stores. The physics feel right and the controls are tight.

i just wanted to drop a quick review for this game cos i'm missing it sooooo much right now and i think next payday i'm gonna run off and grab **** and a copy of waverace and have a full nostalgasem because i genuinly think even with the quality of arcade racers available today that this is still one of my all time fav' racers and if you own a wii or a gamecube than its totally worth tracking down a copy but remember if its your first time playing blue storm try to stick with ricky cos he's the easiest character to learn the controles with :D

Next Generation Magazine
An undeniable blast to play..., [but] most of the tracks are just higher-poly versions of those in "Wave Race 64," and while they’ve been tweaked with new details and shortcuts, it still feels like a rehash. [Dec 2001, p.83]

Hot Games
A poorly controlled game with hard-to-perform tricks can’t quite destroy one of the best looking water racers ever made.

This game hit its peak on the N64, and while NST has done a great job at polishing and cleaning it so that it’s super tidy and sharp, it really doesn’t revolutionize the original title.

Nintendo Power
More waterways would've been welcome, but the various weather conditions can change each course considerably and most areas feature multiple shortcuts. [Nov 2001, p.142]

The steering feel[s] somewhat awkward at first as well as stiff. This to me interrupts the smooth control design of the original game and complicates it for no other reason than to be complicated.

Amazing game! An often overlooked Nintendo franchise. Only had 1 friend I could play multi player with but unfortunately, lost contact with them. Everyone else either doesn't know how to drive in the water or thinks it's "too hard". The graphics are amazing, the sound is amazing and the levels have so much charm. This game is gem and is far superior to any other gen 6 game in this genre. The fact there has been no wave race game since is disappointing but this game still holds up today. Perfect display of Gamecube's abilities.
