In a way, I’m still shocked at how absolutely delightful Touhou Mystia’s Izakaya is, and I’m so pleased at the prospect that a Switch release might garner more attention for every version of the game. It’s so much better than I anticipated, and the pacing and nature of it make it a perfect cozy game for someone who wants to sit back, make some friends, and run a restaurant. While the idea of it being a Touhou Project doujin game might be a bit daunting, it’s worth a chance if you love the life sim and restaurant management genres or just want to build up your library of cozy games. There’s more to it than you’d expect.

Touhou Mystia's Izakaya is, rather obviously, aimed squarely at fans of the Touhou Project. Existing fans will no doubt enjoy the many character interactions and the rather pleasant management gameplay. It is a little too simplistic for my tastes, and the plot a touch vague, but it's a charming management sim regardless.

Touhou Mystia's Izakaya is a solid fangame faithful to the Touhou Project franchise. I picked it up the moment it came to Nintendo Switch and I loved it!! I'm a fan of Touhou but I think that this game definitely can appeal to people who are not familiar to the series. Although Mystia's Izakaya is unofficial, the developers clearly took care in keeping the characters and setting as close as possible to canon. The pixel art is also wonderful and I love the music! You can make friends with other characters by bonding over food, solve mysteries, and plan for nightime where you will open the restaurant during work hours. This game takes dozens of hours to complete, especially if you get the 5 DLCs, but that's because there are so many dishes and drinks to unlock!! It'll stick with you for a while.

Probably the most cozy Touhou game I have played, music is amazing and the vibe is exactly what I imagine about Gensoukyou.
