Touhou Genso Wanderer can feel like a lot to take on at times. As beginners to the series, a lot of time was spent feeling as if we were on the back foot and had missed chunks of tutorial content. The game's fun enough to begin with but becomes frustrating very quickly, and ultimately doesn't offer enough excitement to sustain any interest that it may have piqued early on.

Touhou Genso Wanderer puede padecer de un apartado técnico muy modesto y de pecar de poco innovador u original, pero todo lo que pretende ofrecer lo hace bien. Es un roguelike divertido, con mas posibilidades de las que aparenta, repleto de contenido y con una historia que, si bien no tiene ni pies ni cabeza, es capaz de invitaros a seguir solo por lo disparatado que resulta todo el asunto. Aunque en sobremesa pierda parte de su encanto (es preferible jugarlo en Vita, ya que este juego pide a gritos jugarlo en vuestra camita tranquilamente), sigue manteniendo intactas todas sus virtudes en pantalla grande.

By adding in an interesting story and supporting cast the game proves it can stand on its own compared to some of the all time best in the genre. Touhou Genso Wanderer is a frustrating and wonderful dungeon crawler that fits perfectly into the doujin Touhou universe.

Touhou Genso Wanderer is a worthy addition to any roguelike fan’s collection, and even more so for Touhou fans as there are references to their other games throughout this one. The everyone takes one turn at a time system might not be for everyone, for this title is one of the better implementations of this format.

Touhou Genso Wanderer is a capable Mystery Dungeon game but it doesn't quite live up to its contemporaries. That being said, those who crave more classic roguelike fun after last year's phenomenal Shiren release will find a lot to love here.

Ultimately, Touhou Genso Wanderer is a solid, if unspectacular, dungeon crawler. It’s in a strange area in-between accessible titles like Pokémon Mystery Dungeon and ones built specifically for hardcore players. While it’s not as good as the top of its class, there’s still some solid fun (and challenge) to be had if you’re looking for something new.
