This is the Police 2

Few stories in games can successfully make me hate the “protagonist” and at the same time draw me compulsively further into the events and plot twists. Paired up with the simplistic and impressionistic art of the story frames, the atmosphere and the complexity of the intertwining yet opposing factions bandying for influence over hopelessly corrupt Jack Boyd and you have a Noir story set in the 80’s that could rival the classics.

A solid police management game, playing to its strengths and providing a well-rounded experience for players.

Crisp, gloomy genre mix with challenging tactical elements, but still suffers from problems regarding balance and clarity.

While it’s far to long, This Is the Police 2 is a cool little game, with a interesting scenario and lot of different situations to work on. But most of our reproaches for the first game stand still.

First trailers gave the impression that this would be a fresh take on the familiar police chief formula, putting us in the shoes of the young Lily Reed. But no – once again we’ll be playing as Jack Boyd, doing the same old job with some half-baked new features. [Issue#232, p.60]

A competent sequel that adds some neat touches, but doesn't fix enough of the first game's problems.

The game pulls its punches when depicting the rot at the heart of a northern border city's law enforcement.

Я искренне не понимаю почему эта игра никому не понравилась. По моему это самая недооценённая игра 2018 года. THIS IS THE POLICE 2 - это прямое сюжетное продолжение первой части разбавленное новыми увлекательными игровыми механиками. Но в любом случае, рекомендую играть в эту игру только после прохождения первой части. 9/10, так как первую игру это всё равно не перепрыгнет.

The gameplay was fun at the start, the strategic part caught my attention; however, with playing it become boring because the game become too predictable. After quarter of game, I always had enough resources to make the result as I want. So, it become just read and not make stupid decision. The story was great; certain characters like Lana & Lilly aroused so much hatred in me. But, I loved the story. I did not finish the game, it was so boring, I did not want to have another job :p

I enjoy the new X-com-esque missions and the police management, but the story is honestly the worst part. The main character is extremely unlikable and can't even decide if he's a good guy or a bad guy and you have basically no choice in the matter. I wish I could just skip all the cutscenes because they're not much look at and they also take forever to get to their points. With a script that could've summed up someone's feelings in a sentence instead turns it into a very repetitive paragraph. Certain voice actors are pretty bad and obnoxious to listen to. I've been save scumming a bit to fix any big mistakes and I'm so glad to skip the cut scene every time. Wish I just never had to watch any of the cut scenes, that's how bad they are.

Extremely dull and boring intro. The xcom like missions are cool but misclicks occur way often. Annoying and unnecessary cinematics in between days.

Ok, my first review. Let's do this. I give this game 3/10. It has just murdered my love to This is the police. The first game was great. I loved it. Truly. I play indie games sometimes. I would say 1 indie game for 1 AAA title. Maybe I don't know everything and it isn't the best review you can get but it's my opinion. And dear devs, just go to your office / workshop / whatever and give me real This is the police 2, not this "money making product for xcom fans". You had your style! You had your gameplay! Why you have destroyed it?! I will quote here Dr. Emmett Brown "We have to go back".
