What struck me most about The Almost Gone is how it tells its story. It never explains anything directly: you piece together Emily's life through objects, notes, and silences. When it works, it creates an atmosphere very few games can match. The minimalist art style hides heavy themes like depression, abuse, and generational trauma. The ending is deliberately ambiguous, and for me that's a strength: it leaves open questions that keep working on you long after the credits roll. The main issue is that it's over in two hours, and the final chapter wraps up too quickly given everything built before it. The story is also easy to misread if you don't pay close attention to every clue.
