Very disappointing. This could have been a great beat em up and while your chosen character does play a bit differently there isn't great variety and while the music is good it gets repetitive very quickly. Enemy variety is also poor with just some colour swaps, you also don't get unique death animations for different weapons you might be holding. If this were a £7 game it might be passable but even at £13.50 on Steam its just not worth that.

Oh my god was this ever a missed opportunity ! I had hoped that going with this retro type of aesthetic the creators would have used Splatterhouse 2 or 3 as an inspiration, but holy smokes this is a terrible game. As a huge fan of the beat em up genre, I was genuinely excited for this but this game barely checks action game off as a genre. Whoever made this seems to have little experience making games, doesnt understand the franchaise, and were woefully uninspired. With such a colorful IP there is a wealth of directions they could have gone. This should have been a fun, depraved and playful bloodbath capitalizing on the theme of a beat em up at its core. Think of all the creative moves these characters could have done : The kills and special weapons they could have been using, the scenarios they could have placed them in, the interesting backgrounds they could have been fighting through, the enemies they couldve been killing... Instead, what we get is a rushed, uninspired, sluggish play experience that will bore you after 2 minutes : the graphics are repetative and medicore at best, hell lets be honest straight up poor, the enemies repeat and have barely discernable or interesting design variation, the control is awful, its clumbsy and boring, there is nothing fun about it and there is barely any difference between the playstyle for the characters you can play as. The moves you have fail to elicit really any level of connection to the franchaise, save confusing finishing moves and the animation for them are laughably bad attempts to be gory. And finally the level design is about as generic as you can acheive for this kind of game. If this really was an arcade game it wouldnt be worth a 25 cent play, honestly you'd feel ripped off after one quarter ! This poor attempt reminds me of back in the early days during the 80s / early 90s of what we call retro games now, when movie franchaises would get game conversions, but oftentimes they were just excuses to milk an IP. Take LJNs lineup or god forbid Ataris infamous ET debacle, however, that kind of nonsense is inexcusable today. That said, to market this as a physical release knowing old school fans (like me.......) will pick it up feels almost predatory : They knew this was a bad game, and they still released it for the money. I couldve forgiven them to delay for another year, but putting this garbage attempt out is unforgiveable. Honestly soon as I turned this on I felt immediate regret. Terrible game, shameful even ! Avoid !
