TAPE: Unveil the Memories
Tape: Unveil the Memories is a creative indie adventure that does its best to appeal to suspense lovers whether they prefer stealth or story, but a middling narrative and inconsistent puzzles make it feel like more of a chore than a thrill.
TAPE: Unveil the Memories is a pretty solid narrative story if you're into dark themes and exploring the subconscious.
Cowards who love horror games, rejoice! For in TAPE: Unveil The Memories we have a psychological thriller title that offers plenty of eerie ambiance without a total barrage of cheap jumpscares. Oh sure, there’s definitely a haunting tale to be had here, but one that will only raise the blood pressure a little bit. If you’re looking for a standard horror game experience, you’ll have to look elsewhere, but if you’re after a thriller game that offers an interesting puzzle mechanic and a scintillating story full of secrets to uncover, TAPE: Unveil The Memories is just waiting for you to press play.

I expected more but the monster encounter is single and repetitive, it doesn't kill nor scare, the story is actually pretty good, unfortunately it's the boring puzzles with the use of a VHS recorder and long do it all over again to solve if you miss a part and there's also a limit to the ammount of rewind or fast forward to use in the puzzles (they require moving stuff around to go back in time or something), the movement is very slow, but the ambients are well built (to a point, you can see the skybox template outside the windows curving itself as if it was a big square), and the textures are very repetitive, I didn't outright hate the game but it's not that great either.

Tape: Unveil the Memories is a game with an interesting idea, but unfortunately just falls a bit short. While the narrative and drip-fed creative puzzles kept me going, it became somewhat of a chore by the end. With some more variety in gameplay, and additional complex puzzles, this could definitely have been a big winner for me. While I wanted to love it, I just couldn’t quite get there.

PC Invasion
Tape: Unveil the Memories has compelling elements, but they're overshadowed by some truly bad mechanics and dull monster encounters.
