Super Punch Patrol is a simple game. Its visuals are simple, its gameplay is simple, its music is interesting but largely unassuming. But despite its simplicity, it manages to be something a little bit magical. Sure it's quite challenging, and sure it may kick your butt more than a few times — but it's a game where everything just feels right. It might not be for you, and it might not even be for me, but it'll always be fun as heck.

Super Punch Patrol feels like a greatest hits package, but that's the thing about the greatest hits – they're great. And so is Super Punch Patrol, in the end. For the price you'll pay, it's nothing short of spectacularly generous; there are only five stages, but they're tough as old boots and it'll take time to master the challenge and see those credits roll. With costumes and characters to unlock there's reason to keep playing even after you surmount this beastly little brawler, and at £4.99 it's a bit of a no-brainer.

I love the art style they went with in this game. It’s a really fun beat em up and was only $5! I enjoyed trying to get past my last high scores and the unlockables were a really fun addition. Especially the gunman Clive outfit. Super Punch Patrol is great for people who love classic beat em ups.

If you love Double Dragon, Final Fight and Streets of Rage you must purchase this game! Super Punch Patrol is clearly inspired by these 3 classic games and it does a wonderful job recreating the "feel" of these gems. The action is fast paced, the enemies / items / stage settings are varied, the graphics are nice and the sound is authentic to this genre too. I love the fact that a complete playthrough (5 stages) only takes around 30 minutes and it feels satisfying to beat the game. Super Punch Patrol will be a game I keep coming back to for short bursts of play - highly recommended!

Super Punch Patrol is very clearly a painstakingly accurate love letter to classic beat-’em-ups. What's fascinating is it manages to invoke this without the need for a throwback art style. It draws on its inspiration in gameplay rather than presentation, which is very refreshing. Of course the difficulty will scare some off, but fans of the genre will absolutely want to give Super Punch Patrol a shot. Grab a friend, and fight your way through these crime filled streets as you punch your way to justice.

At $4.99, you really can't go wrong with downloading Super Punch Patrol from the eShop. With a few adjustments this could be a really good, potentially great game, but there's easily five bucks worth of entertainment here, including 12 costumes to unlock across the three characters and an online leaderboard if you want to chase high scores. Just make sure you bring a friend along because this city is not kind to those who walk its streets alone.

While this game has simple graphics the gameplay and controls are up there with any modern beat em up. I am told the game is short although I haven't fully completed the final level yet due to the high difficulty and have got several hours of gameplay out of it.

Solid new game from Bertil Hörberg. Nice that something came out of this side project of his. Loved all his previous games and this is as great as ever. Would have loved some more options though. This game is as bare-bones as it gets. Verdict: Play it if you like this type of game. Rating: Gameplay: 5/5 - Solid Level Design: 5/5 - Solid Soundtrack: 5/5 - Nice and energetic. A great listen. Story: 2/5 - Pretty much non-existent. Graphics: 4/5 - Same as always. Length: 3/5 - Normal length for this type of game. Replay Value: 3/5 - New costumes, you see more every playthrough and highscores. Enjoyment: 5/5 - Had a blast Overall rating: 32/40 => 8/10
