Overlord delivers the usual good quality. However, the vassal mechanics in particular will not be equally relevant to everyone.

Paradox has made a pro-player choice in divvying up the paid vs free new content, making Overlord feel like a less essential purchase than it otherwise could. While most of the big structural changes are available to everyone, this DLC still offers some exciting and varied new additions to the richest and most entertaining sci-fi strategy on the galactic market.

Overlord DLC turned out to be very fascinating. It changes and complements some of the basics of Stellaris and allows you to take a different look at the usual formula of space empire' development.

Overlord is a bountiful expansion to Stellaris that enriches one of the few remaining underdeveloped aspects of the base game. However, its core additions may not seem particularly "vital" to all players.
