SummaryUse the Wii U GamePad controller to mount a dozen security cameras around a perimeter and defend it against a robot army invasion. As the robot army approaches, shoot at the attackers using the GamePad and TV in tandem, while observers watching the TV shout frantic suggestions about which camera offers the best look to target invaders.

Star Fox Guard may be the most fun I’ve had playing a video game all year.

It is what it is: a smaller game concept that served its purpose as an E3 tech demo well, and so was polished up to become a nice companion piece for a bigger game. [Issue #21 – May/June 2016, p.76]

People say this is better than Star Fox Zero, but I like both, it's compatible with the same 2 amiibo, the gameplay is cool, it's got a online feature, and the controls are above solid!

Star Fox Guard is really a pleasant surprise. It’s a simple concept that is well executed and makes perfect use of the Wii U’s unique control options. Hundreds of levels and the ability to create and share your own give this one some serious legs.

This is a great surprise, and we've really enjoyed our time with it. It is true, however, its formula gets old after a few hours, but considering its price, it's a good choice.

The graphics are basic and the controls can be tricky. Switching cameras is a nightmare when you can't remember the positions, making the business of stemming the tide of bots a little more stressful than it should be. Yet Starfox Guard turns out to be weirdly addictive.

Star Fox Guard is a pretty standard tower defense game with a Star Fox theme, which does not make it a recommendation as a separate game. You'd rather buy the Star Fox Zero because the special edition comes with this concept too.

Every time Star Fox tries to do something out of its space-combat comfort zone it fails. Star Fox Guard sadly continues this tradition of games that make you go “meh” when Fox and the gang step away from their Arwing cockpits.

Better than Star Fox zero. And this was the bonus game. Let's see. Great control set up. No forced Motion controls. Simple to learn difficult to master. It's addicting. The Status of better than the game it came free with may well change if they patch in an no motion control mode for Starfox zero. Which wouldn't be entirely unwelcome.

What's a great Star Fox Zero review without Star Fox Guard? Make way, Star Fox Zero. There's another Star Fox game to collect with the purchase of Star Fox Zero if you're buying that. It's a tower defense type of game, so we know what to expect out of the results. Get Star Fox Zero instead.

Surprisingly, it somehow works. Not only that, but I’d say that whereas Zero is a disaster that should absolutely be avoided by all except the most passionate of Star Fox fans, Guard is a fun time that I’d absolutely recommend to fans of puzzle or RTS games.

I hope your favorite Star fox character is Slippy, because if it is, you'll enjoy this game!
