It's a shame Global Star didn't spend more energy on the single-player experience, or perhaps even drop the Story mode completely in favor for still more multiplayer modes and/or maps.

On the one hand, Spy vs. Spy is a fun, engaging, throwaway platform game that comes in at the right price. The addition of the multiplayer modes and classic game are just a bonus. On the other hand, you've got a fairly buggy and technically inferior platform game that contains just enough inventiveness to get by.

And while the graphics are fun, the translation into 3D has been totally mishandled and lost the whole appeal of the gameplay.

We owned the PS2 Version from years ago not the Xbox Version; But the Metacritic website does not allow me to swap to the PS2 Edition. This game is PHUCKING. AMAZING. Play it. Ignore the brain dead Critics they don't know a single thing about this game. Spy vs. Spy for PS2 and Xbox is a CLASSIC. An Underrated GEM of a Classic. That should not have deserved the poor review scores from these critics. Everything makes sense, the combat is fun and getting money in-game is just a fun task to do. Even escaping. The AI maybe really dumb in certain modes but they make up for it in Classic Mode where the original Spy vs Spy kicks in and it is the best part of the game with the sprinkled new content to make it more unique. Modern Mode tries to give some of the BEST Content the game can get. You need to collect 4 Important items around the map kinda similar to classic mode but here is the twist. Each Important item is hidden in a safe behind a challenge. Each challenge is unique but sticks to certain mechanics if needed. ANOTHER TWIST HOWEVER is that each Important item does something special. The Gadget allows you to see if certain traps are activated and shows Spy Traps more frequently. The Money Bag gives you $1000. The Key allows you to unlock doors you could not open from certain places such as Important Safe locations. The Disguise allows you to break into other Players Safe houses which breaks the game a LOT. The Weapons are all really fun to use especially the Ice Gun. Seriously, the Critics can't TOUCH this game. Sure the Single-Player is a little weak but it is still good though! This game deserved better.

Vicious Cycle did an excellent job in recreating the comic in a video game, too bad there's only one safe house to spawn from.

The game is good for those who are just after a laugh and a fun time with their mates away from 'stat slaves', which have become far too frequent on a little-known FPS called "Halo 2."

The one bit about Spy vs. Spy that really shines is the presentation. Each level looks radically different than the last, and comes complete with its own, unique challenges.

Even though Spy vs. Spy has some dreadful, contrived gameplay, things are evened out a bit with options for in-game Dolby Digital sound and HDTV 480p functions. Even though you're stuck with a mediocre game, it will look and sound fairly clean.

Overall, after playing this game one time through (ugh, tell me about it), I can confidentially say that I will never play this game ever again and never look back. This game is awful, plain and simple.

Bloody fab game. **** the critics. One of the best ps2 games I played, shocked to find it had such a bad critical reception. Brilliant multiplayer and gadgets to mess around with. Single player was decent too - though lacking a good story.

I wasn't sure what to expect going into this game, but I do like what I've played of it. You can tell they focused way more on the multiplayer than the single player, but you can still have a good time by yourself in this game. Would I recommend it over other 3rd person shooters? Not really, but this is a decent alternative.
