Almost the perfect game, unfortunately held back by most of the voice acting. peak though!

This is the defenition of storytelling. The way the game portrays James guilt and his denial of his sin is amazing. The acting is outdated but the voice of James is perfect even if its crappy, it captures James's cold almost mechanical like persona. The multiple endings all work. The gameplay can be challenging sometimes but the game is mostly for the story.

The most garbage combat and pacing in the history of gaming. Anyone who praises this game probably has never played a horror game in their life.

Silent Hill 2 is an incredibly fascinating game. I absolutely love how deep, complex, and tragic the characters and story are, and how much room there is for your own interpretation of everything. The symbolism behind the characters and creatures makes the experience even more interesting.I honestly didn't expect the game to make me tear up, but the entire final act hit me surprisingly **** atmosphere is phenomenal, and the soundtrack is absolutely fantastic. Compared to the first game, the music is less chaotic and aggressive, but it still creates a constant sense of unease. Some of the tracks are also genuinely beautiful and have stuck with me long after finishing the **** only real complaints are the camera and controls, which can be a little clunky at times.

Just a true masterpiece of gaming. This is easily one of, if not the greatest game of all time.

Silent Hill 2 is a masterpiece,also the best horror game ever made; it has one of the most unique atmospheres in video games, as well as arguably the best story, which is unmatched in its depth, intensity, and complexity. James Sunderland is one of the best-written protagonists, and the other characters are just as incredible. Akira Yamaoka’s soundtrack is also perfect. Personally, it’s my favorite game, and objectively one of the best video games of all time.

I reallly don't understand all the hype around this game, even back then. It's slow, It's boring to run around in the fog, and the combat is terrible. Even inside the buildings you can barely see a meter ahead of you, and the flashlight feels useless. The whole story relies on a final twist... Completely overhyped in my opinion, just a boring game. Honestly, I had much more fun playing Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil REQUIEM.

O melhor jogo de horror psicológico da história que influenciou tudo que venho após, como mídia de jogo na era PS2 e no cinema. Personagens marcantes, todos com significados profundos pra narrativa, e principalmente, seu protagonista complexo, James Sutherland. (10/10)

Silent Hill 2, the most incredible entry in the Silent Hill series as we are introduced to a new cast of characters and enemies with brilliant symbolism and gruesome monster designs. Silent Hill has never been as good as this. The musical compositions have been the best out of the entire series that reflect beauty, tragedy, and ultimately, horror.

The sound is literally perfect. The atmosphere is so engrossing and eerie, and the story just finishes off the most perfect survival horror of all time. RE started things off, but SH2 is the king and standard still to this day.

Silent Hill 2 received a remake in 2024 and that remake’s biggest strength is also it’s biggest flaw: it reminds of it’s much superior arthouse source material from 2001. Truly a masterpiece.

I've attempted to get into silent hill 2 multiple times and repeatedly fail to find it interesting, fun, scary, or anything other than dull and repetitive. Every time, I get to the apartment level and quit before the pyramid head boss fight. The reason is that the Woodside Apartments is possibly the worst level I've played through in a video game. It forces you to go on a scavenger hunt throughout these boring copy-pasted hallways with enemies that serve as little more than an annoyance. At least in the town there's a nice ambient soundtrack but in the apartments there isn't any music at all. I also just cannot stand the loading times for each door, and this is coming from someone who loves the original Resident Evil. This is possibly the worst horror game I've played. It fumbles a good story with horrible gameplay and nearly unplayable level design, making for a truly miserable experience.Edit: I tried yet another time to get into it because of how much people glaze this game and it makes me even more confused as to why people even enjoy it at all. Also, EVERY SINGLE ACTION IN THE GAME HAS A LOADING SCREEN!!! Opening your inventory, opening a door, opening your map, interacting with anything. The King's Field Games on the PS1 didn't have a single loading screen past the start menu and had open worlds, so the "it was a product of it's time" excuse doesn't work here. It is simply a terribly designed game

Meu Silent Hill preferido sem sombra de dúvidas. A história é muito bem escrita, os personagens são extremamente marcantes, cada um com sua história de background. O sistema de progressão do jogo é muito melhor que do 1, nesse você sente que está progredindo e quanto mais você progride, com mais vontade você fica de saber o restante da história. Definitivamente é um jogo excelente e um dos meus preferidos.

Grossly overrated game, the gameplay of Silent Hill 2 is abysmal, its absolutely awful, controls are clunkly, unresponsive and James doesn't feel human at all, it feels like you are controlling a tank that drives through a muddy war field. Combat is atrocious, one of the worst combat mechanics ever made, rip off Resident Evil without any of the tension, thats because James is a total destructive force, all you need is the iron club or whatever and you are good to go, you can defeat most enemies with the same weapon doing the same combo, because their AI is so dumb they just stand there doing nothing, wow so scary! huh the scare factor on this game is borderline zero, it completely relies of its soundtrack and atmosphere, but once the trick is gone everything falls apart. Boss fights are a cakewalk and feel like parody and memes, not a single challenge whatsoever, the biggest threat in the game the dude with the pyrmaid head is just a super slow slog with big sword, he is so easy to avoid. Resource management doesnt matter, because the game showers you with ammo and health and all you actually do is the wooden club. Story is overrated, its stolen from films and books (if you actually read) and its handled poorly because the voice acting is robotic and corny, How can you sit there and eat pizza? I killed a human being?..a human being. Stupid dialogue. The only single good thing that came out of this game is the soundtrack, everything else is cheap copy of something better, this game gained its reputation thanks to e-celeb essay and videos on Youtube, most of its fans never even played it, its one of the biggest circlejerked games of all time.

24 years and still masterpiece, one of the best horror games, 10/10 not enough
