Sid Meier's Civilization III

Perfectly captures the epic sweep of the previous games but adds a bunch of new features that improve upon an already brilliant concept. It's superior in every way to "Civilization II"—and for that matter, any game of this type in recent memory.

Complex combat, climbing the tech tree, and resource management (commonly found in RTS games) make Civ III a deep strategy game – far beyond a simple Simulation game.

The interface is much better implemented this time around...To make a long story short, Civ. III is a worthy heir for the franchise and a definite must have for any strategy gamer who doesn't want us to make fun of them.

A worthy and immersive extension of the series, and comes close to perfection in terms of strategy.

There's enough depth and playability here to keep you clicking well into the spring of 2002.

It’s hard to knock one of the best, most addictive strategy games ever made—but Civ II owners may wonder why they’re paying fifty bucks for what's essentially a decent facelift and a gameplay balance patch.

This is where Civ3 starts shining: There are many core gameplay mechanics, that started here and which improved the game a lot: ivs with own traits and unique units, better diplomatic possibilities and so on. I played Civ 2 and 1 and maybe they were great in their time, but today they are outdated and the fun begins in Civ 3.

7- Great. Civ is very relaxing but not like a farming sim or the like. Theres strategy and planning that is very fun to engage in but its slow methodical pace makes it the type of game you just wanna soak in and enjoy. One single game can go on for 10-20 hours of game time and i usually had multiple game saves progressing at any one time. Theres lots of complexities to game systems like research and development, civilian health, exploration, and diplomacy that you’re always juggling.

A fun game that you will want too keep playing even though your AI opponents seem to be able too accomplish feats you would never be able too. The graphics are good and the user interface has been improved. But still the game play is not as good as Civ II.

Won't work at an acceptable resolution. There are no settings options, not even a windowed mode, to prevent this game to be aged beyond entertainment value. I know it's old, but that's no excuse. This should be free if the alternatives are fix it yourself or suffer when trying to play.
