A rather curious game. This was was one of those live action point and click games that were flooding the market back in the mid to late 90s. Ripper came out rather late when this style of game was more or less going out of fashion, so allot of people may never of even heard of it. Luckily I managed to lend this from a friend at the time (I would have bought it, but there weren't any other copies, anywhere at the time.) Ripper did something rather interesting: There were four possible outcomes to the game, however this was randomly chosen by the computer at the start of the new game. So it was very possible that each time you played, the game might be taking a different direction as certain scenarios changed according to the pre-chosen ending. There are quite a few decent actors in this game giving a pretty good performances. Visuals are decent and on par with the game type. However, my main gripe is like that of most point and click games of that era: The "OK, now what?" scenario. Many, many times during this game you will end up not having a clue what to do, and there is very little in game information that even hints on your next move. Without a walkthrough this game might take months to finish. Many of the puzzles and problems have extremely abstract solutions or require certain conditions to be met before hand when there is absolutely no indication to do so. Overall: Ripper is an incredibly frustrating game that will keep you stumped for ages. But, once you know what to do Ripper is really a first rate story that could easily compete with most Hollywood blockbusters of the time.
