Queen's Quest 2: Stories of Forgotten Past
While the gameplay will only last you 2-3 hours, depending on your puzzle prowess and knowledge of Artifex Mundi titles, including the short bonus epilogue, once again I did enjoy my time with it, even if it’s a lot more of the same that I’ve become accustomed to. It seems there’s been two more Queen’s Quest titles released, so here’s to hoping that we’ll get to experience those sequels shortly as well, as I had a calming time with this one, even if it wasn’t their best offering.

I always like the presentation in the Artifex Mundi games and once again both the visuals and sound design shine bright here. The story isn’t the best I’ve ever experienced in this field it still did enough to keep me invested throughout my time with the game. There’s a decent amount of puzzles for you to sink your teeth into with and there’s more than enough variety present to make each puzzle feel fresh and interesting. Technically the game delivers in pretty much all areas and there isn’t any issues you have to contend with. In terms of content there’s quite a bit for you to sink your teeth into as well, and the added inclusion of a bonus chapter means the game has even more length to it. While I really enjoyed the puzzles in the game I still would’ve liked to have been challenged more by them because most of them are pretty easy. There isn’t really anything different here and if you weren’t a fan of previous game’s of this ilk then this won’t change your mind. We're once again treated to another Artifex Mundi game and their first game of this year on the Xbox One named Queen’s Quest 2: Stories of Forgotten Past is once again a decent addition to their portfolio. I’m a big fan of Artifex Mundi games and while there isn’t anything really new included in the gameplay of them, it's a proven working formula that doesn’t stop this game from being enjoyable. The story which obviously plays a very important part in a game of this ilk does a good job of immersing you and when you combine that with the very good presentation you find that the story comes alive in all areas. The puzzles also do a good job of bringing the story to life and even though I would’ve liked to have been challenged more the puzzles have enough variety within them to stop them from becoming boring. In terms of content the game will keep you satisfied for quite a while and there’s also the nice addition of a bonus chapter so in the end you do get good value for your money. At the end of the day then I hope to see many more game’s from Artifex Mundi this year because they always seem to deliver. Queen’s Quest 2: Stories of Forgotten Past is no different either and if you’re a fan of these types of game’s then you owe yourself to get this. Thumbs up!

If you follow Artifex, Queen’s Quest 2 will feel painfully familiar due to its lack of formulaic deviation. Unsurprisingly, the story is its weakest element, with its unenthusiastic voice work trailing closely behind. That said, it’s still a fairly robust and very challenging puzzler nonetheless. One that certainly knows how to motivate your senses through its intelligent design, its commendable diversity, and its expertly detailed locations.
