This is one of my multiplayer favorites when it comes to VR shooters. The free climbing and gliding empowers a tense and technically clean battle for survival in VR. But it shows flaws in terms of content and variety.

If you’re looking for a new, addictive VR shooter to sink your teeth into then you can’t go wrong with Population: One. The verticality and freedom of movement is unrivaled and the smooth, snappy gameplay feels fantastic even on the lower-powered Oculus Quest. My only significant gripe is that I wish there was a bit more diversity in content available, but they’ve got an amazing foundation to grow from here. Population: One is definitely the best VR battle royale shooter on the market and will hopefully find a strong audience for quite some time.

What's here is solid, and while certain elements need refining (such as the finicky gunplay, lack of compelling melee options, and limited cosmetic options,) I can see Population: One eventually growing into one of the more compelling multiplayer options on the platform.

When it comes to VR battle royale games, Population: One stands at the top. It’s an immersive, action-packed experience, combining dynamic game mechanics with mostly smooth gameplay. If you’re unfamiliar with battle royale games, they follow a “last team standing” format, where players start with no gear and must find loot scattered across the map—think Fortnite or Apex Legends. What sets Pop One apart is the thrill of combat as you scale any surface and soar through the skies. Despite its depth, you’ll be surprised by how easy it is to get started. However, the highly competitive lobbies can be intimidating, and the presence of younger players may occasionally be distracting. On the plus side, the developers are actively updating the game, with a recently added mode that’s more welcoming to newcomers called Phoenix Royale. Overall, Population: One is one of the best multiplayer games available in VR—and it’s free to play.

With so many VR games only lasting a few hours this has high replay value! Low reviews didn't take time to learn how to play the game. Takes about 4-5 hours to get it good and moving, shooting and climbing. After that its been pure joy. Don't think about it for $30 its well worth the time and money!

Really great battle Royale game in VR. it’s kind of like Fortnite mixed with Warzone. Fun with friends!

A great battle royal contender IF you have VR. Every game you are placed in a squad of 3 players. 6 squads per game. Fly, climb and shoot your way through the zone all while having an open microphone with your squad mates. Low amount of skill required to feel part of the team but almost limitless skill ceiling. Play your own way. Seriously enjoyed this battle royal after becoming bored with other popular titles.

Do they invent the BR genre new? No definitely not but that game is super fun and what is very important to me SUPER FAST especially for a BR.
The community for now is actually relatively positive and you have very short Q times!

While the climbing and flying mechanic is brilliant and fun, the lack of balance, options, and severe focus on microtransactions make this one I cannot recommend. It's a game where verticality is virtually limitless. The design team must have skipped out on their classes covering principals of game design, because when you combined height with overpowered sniper rifles with automatic hand stabilization, what you get is a community of players that learn to dominate maps buy just climbing and sniping. In a matter of months I have seen the game go from wild mix of tactics to a simply everyone sniping. Beyond the broken core mechanic the game is plagued with voice chat issues, networking and server issues, and hacks. The height system is fundamentally flawed and those that learn to exploit it are almost indestructable, contributing to a community of percher and snipers who hand on building, shoot accurately, but only their hands can be seen and targeted by only the most accurate players. These are fixable, but the dev team is so busy churching out gun skins for microtransactions. there seems to be no indication they are interested in anything else.

Absolute garbage game, pairs level 1 players with level 40+ players and expects you to have fun. Almost as if the game was designed to keep you playing just long enough so you can’t get a refund. Wouldn’t recommend this game to anyone if you’re on the fence do not buy it.
