One of the purest exploration games out there. You are a space explorer on your first mission, allowed to go anywhere you want from minute 1, with no more clues than that. However, no matter your route, you will quickly learn that there's something deeply mysterious, and deeply wrong, in that star system. Fortunately, good reading skills and some (okay, maybe quite the) wit are all it takes to figure this big puzzle out.

I had zero ideas, zero expectations - I had nothing, I bought this game only because I have seen a repeating phrase in the reviews when I quickly scanned through them: “I wish I could play this game for the first time again”, but the one that sealed the deal for me was “If you have any curiosity left, then this game is for you”. Boy, that was right on the money. There is nothing more fitting to use as a hook to attract new people to experience this masterpiece than one word - curiosity. From the moment you start your expedition, till the very end, the feeling of curiosity, the drive to find out what lies at the core of everything, the elementary urge and want to understand this world will serve as the main force which will propel you to an experience far too few people aim to live nowadays. Even though the world seems small, I think it is a perfect abstraction to the well-thought and executed mechanics at play, an applaudable design choice. The planets each have their own rules - hence each has its own character, or to put it less professionally - each planet has its own way to cause you to die in a stupid/hilarious way. Another enjoyable part of the game are the puzzles, perfectly crafted with the right amount of challenge. The feeling you get when your neurons link the various bits of information you have found around the world and give you that “Aha!” moment is truly spectacular. The soundtrack has a great mix between relaxing, cozy and tension-inducing. The placement of the tracks during gameplay being on point is an understatement. The sound is what gives heft and weight to the moments you encounter during your play-through and in the Outer Wilds’ case it passes all the marks with flying colours.

the greatest game ever made and its not even close. ngl for me its the greatest piece of media ever made. The ending is genuinely GENUINELY something else and the way it builds up the ending and the amount of work I do that culminates into the ending is js... i dont even have words on it. Everyone should play this game once before dying man.

I am incredibly late to the party, but thanks to a friend I was able to live through the story over and over and over. Amazing from the beginning to the end, it's a one of a kind puzzle, the feeling once everything comes together in ones head is indescribable.

This is a solid game and for anyone questioning this purchase, I would dive in. The music, the emotion, the mechanics are absolutely groundbreaking and the only problem with this game is that there isn't more to play. This is one of those special games that will live in my heart for a long time.

10- Perfect After decades of video games, I felt that I’d begun to lose interest in my favorite hobby. Games felt like a chore to get through and I was increasingly critical of them. But every now and again I stumble upon something that reignites my passion for the medium and reminds me that the best games can offer a comprehensive experience completely out of reach of books, television, painting, and the like. Of these games, and without any hyperbole, Outer Wilds is the most important one I’ve ever picked up. The poetic nature of this game is that it teaches you to appreciate the ephemeral beauty of our mortal condition, while also being a game you can only truly experience once. This game is a tiny piece of life. You live it once and though you can’t ever go back, the experience stays with you forever.

If anyone loves exploring an immersive interactive world this game is fantastic and also surprisingly emotional in the end. If anyone is thinking of playing try your best to avoid spoilers and figure out stuff by yourself. The beauty of this game is in the freedom of exploration the player has as well as learning more about past events and civilizations. Also you know, space is awesome.

Wonderful experience. Puzzle hints and bits of ancient lore scattered all around the planets but in an intuitive and engaging way. The overwhelming feeling of being lost in a huge universe, wondering whatever the eye of the universe is and where it is, makes the experience even more unique

This game is the best entertainment experience I've ever had in my life. It's perfect, not only in its absurdly good story, but also in the hyper-complex concepts of modern physics and astrophysics that they managed to incorporate so naturally, in the gameplay that immerses you on a bizarre level even without any progression, and in the ending... Oh, the ending of this game... I really wanted to talk about it, but this game is the worst possible place to get spoilers, so I'll spare you, but the ending of this game is the best science fiction ending I've ever seen in my life (In fact, Outer Wilds is the best science fiction I've ever seen). All of this is about the base game; in the DLC, add a 2x multiplier to everything I've said, and it manages to be better than something that's already perfect. Just be careful because it has a lot of psychological horror elements and some jump scares, but for me, that made everything much better and more immersive. Trust me, you need to play this game. 10/10

It's a good experience. It's not usually my cup of tea, but many of the things I've seen here are unique and manage to stick with you. The music is Iconic, the "main tune" is stuck in my head. Yeah, the game is worth a shot even if you are usually not into this type of experience. On a side note: I hated the controls. Like, I'm glad I finished the game and I'm now free to never enter that death-machine ever again.

Genuinely one of the best games I have ever played ️ Fantastic sci-fi mystery game with cute and chill world! I cannot remember any other game that would give so much joy of adventure and discovery. It's amazing how well done this world is and how everything is sort of connected. You don't level up, collect or build anything in this game, the only thing that changes is your knowledge - and that is how your progress! +1 for those special Little Prince vibes.

This is problably my favorite game of all time, outer wilds is the perfect example of curiosity on a game, and because of that, you cant really say a lot about the game, but if you like puzzles and good lore, play this.

Do you like 3D platforming, self-directed exploring, and puzzles? Do you dislike being directed where to go, prefer figuring it out on your own with little or no guidance? Are you okay with figuring out what to do but messing up a platforming step and then having to repeat the whole thing again, perhaps many times over? If you answer yes to all the above, then you might become one of those people who love recommending this very niche game to everyone and anyone. Me, I wasted $20.

This game is definitely very unique. I love storytelling that is just somebody telling you what is going on, but you, the player, figuring it out through stuff you find on your own. It is quite simmilar to Subnautica by this factor. The control and gameplay is fun. I feel like Cooper from Interstellar trying to land on some of these planets and you do feel like an astronaut with the gravity forces on you by the different stellar objects. My problem is that at the beginning it was very fun to explore the different planets but after like 15 hours I was kinda stuck and confused (even though I was constantly looking at the ship logs). Some puzzles are really hard and when you see their solutions you will be like "Come on, how was I supposed to figure this out!". The different endings are all very interesting and worth getting. The story is very good and compelling.

One of the greatest pieces of the gaming fiction. It gives you complete, COMPLETE freedom. Pick location where to start and if you are ready for the gameplay without shooting, grab your marshmallows, scanner and get ready for the adventure. It best to start a game without any spoilers. It has one of the most heartbreaking soundtracks that I am willing to listen to, even after full playthrough. Theme - "how you will cope with death... of entire universe?" will touch almost anyone, and feeling of direct relation to the story through different characters. Some of them will stay only as a dialogues on the wall and yet they will be more than just models but a separated travellers, that used to play in one band and maybe they will someday? Try to complete game without any guides or help, just be aware and if stuck go to another planet, maybe you will find answers there. This game can be completed only once, as your upgrades will become knowledge about this universe and ancient civilization. In the end this game only 22 minutes long, try it for yourself

One of those games that comes out of nowhere and hits you like a truck and stays with you as long as you live. Just go in blind and try to make sense. Everyone might hit a dead end here or there, but keep pushing (or get a small hint online) and you'll enjoy every bit of it. I wasn't a big fan of the DLC, but it was still enjoyable.

It's far from perfect, but it has a lot of interesting concepts that weigh up for it. Some aspects are frustrating, especially that your ship log isn't portable and that you can't really ask NPCs important questions that you most definitely will come across. A game where you feel like you have to Google stuff has design issues.

Outer Wilds is a masterpiece of discovery and immersion. The non-linearity and the knowledge-based progression lead to impactful discoveries and a sense of adventure that one wishes would never end. The game feels extremely rewarding and fair, and the way the story is told ties perfectly with the game design. The story is impactful, emotional and excellently written

Outer Wilds really impressed me with its sense of discovery. Everything relies on curiosity and understanding the world rather than traditional progression, which feels quite rare. Exploring this solar system and slowly piecing together the mystery is incredibly satisfying. At times, the lack of clear objectives can be a bit frustrating. Still, the overall experience is truly unique.

This game changed my brain chemistry… I played it 7 years ago, replayed it once, and it remains my favorite, most impactful game of my life. Just the sheer otherworldliness of it… Nothing else has ever gotten anywhere close to capturing and inspiring that very particular feeling of wonder and the vastness of the universe and how much we don’t and do matter. It is a challenging puzzle game that does require some time to get into it (fair drawback) and a lot of trying over and over again to progress, so it can take quite a bit of time and patience. Personally I did use help and some spoilers in order to move forward more efficiently and not be frustrated. However, that did not take away from the experience of the game at all, because the narrative, the world-building, and the sense of immersion are so incredible and robust that they can easily withstand minor spoilers - it’s all about the experience of actively playing and putting yourself through this, which a spoiler cannot ruin. Of course nothing beats the satisfaction of figuring everything out by yourself (which is why I forgive the game for being a bit challenging - it provides a huge opportunity for a huge sense of reward), but I wanted to make this point that the game is worth playing even if you decide to take it easy. It’s still challenging enough as it is. The experience is so worth it!!! And the soundtrackkk makes me tear up every time

it is utterly ridiculous that so many people have rated outer wilds a 10 on so many platforms, much less that anyone rated it a 10 at all. i've tried to play this 3 separate times over 3 years, every single time i quit before even leaving the opening area due to ridiculous control scheme issues. if the first thing we are doing is roasting a marshmallow, then you should make sure that you can actually roast a marshmallow. the inputs to get up and leave or to move the stick have a suggested input in the tutorial, but the crucial "extend stick" input thats listed after them has a blank space instead. i looked through the extremely simple key mapping today: there were no slots left empty, and besides that, this is how the game is behaving at default settings. how in the !#$% do you expect anyone to enjoy your game when the introductory experience is instantly broken? what is this, wake up and sit down at a campfire then log off simulator?

I wanted to love this game, I really did. But I hate games who don't have any respect for my time. Overrated just for the sake of a wannabe deep message I thought of in kindergarden. People should have higher standards for "philosophical" games, you people will like anything that feels "smart".
