Jouez y. Non sérieusement. L'histoire est exceptionnelle. Les combats sont incroyables (et dur). Le platin est pas abusé pour les joueurs playstation. Franchement jouez y.

It's an alright metroidvania, but I wouldn't consider myself a big fan of the sekiro-like combat.

Nine sols is one of the best metroidvanias I ever played , what makes it so good is the story and gameplay, the story is unique with good amounts of lore, the gameplay is fun and challenging in a good way, the parrying is one of my favorite mechanics, and the game has a lot of upgrades to ease the difficulty, along with a story mode for people who want a less difficult game, easily one of the best metroidvanias.

This game was one of great first impressions, lingering disappointments in the form of particular design choices, punctuated by an engaging, emotional, and satisfying conclusion both in terms of gameplay and story, that made overlooking the few shortcomings this game has practically effortless. Nine Sols is a gem **** with beautiful art, a fascinating world with interesting lore and secrets, great character and enemy designs, fantastic exploration, and the best combat of any 2D game. While its music may not be particularly memorable, it serves the setting well and there are a few standout tracks which are great. The squash and stretch style of animation leaves a bit to be desired, but overall the presentation was great, and the comic book cutscenes add a lot of personality to the game. The exploration is a bit less freeing than contemporaries, but that's because this is a story-driven action platformer first, and a metroidvania second. The story and the action, which are the focus, are both impeccable. Much like Metroid Dread, this game lacks in the interconnected and mazelike level design, but it places its bets on the combat, which in both cases ends up paying off. The combat in this game is closely inspired by Sekiro, which is a very good thing. It has a satisfying parry, and interesting and innovative internal damage system, a satisfying chaining of moves with the talisman and the parry, alternative options for deflecting and avoiding damage that the player is rewarded for using like the unbounded counter and tai chi kick, and more. The core combat is fantastic. The only criticisms I would make are these minor ones: the hitboxes needed more work, as some enemies and even bosses have problems, and the lack **** period after getting hit makes it very easy to get stunlocked, which is never fun. But the great story which creeps up on you and hits you with an emotionally impactful tale of accepting the flow of time and the truth beyond what you can measure, more than makes up for it. This is a fantastic game.

Simply said, "not a game for all men" or those with less than expert reflexes. Tends to be designed for punishment and overly difficult boss battles. A game that is amazing in many ways but makes it very difficult to enjoy despite a great story, art style and music.

Nine Sols is coming to Switch in the physical edition it finally deserves. Already available since November 2024 as a digital download, this title from Red Candle Games—best known for Detention and Devotion—moves away from psychological horror without ever quite shedding that sense of unease. The setting changes, the gameplay too, but the studio retains that very particular way of making you feel that a beautiful world can hide something sick. Here, the player takes on the role of Yi, a Solarian who wakes up in New Kunlun, a city suspended between Taoist myth, technological ruins and ancient vengeance. More than just a difficult Metroidvania, Nine Sols has a world, and that world bears **** true strength lies in the combat. The game doesn’t just ask you to strike, but to listen. To wait for the right moment. To turn the enemy’s attack into an opening. Parrying isn’t a bonus for skilled players, but the heart of the experience. You don’t get through Nine Sols by forcing your way through. You learn to breathe in time with your **** result is demanding, brutal, rarely forgiving. It remains to be seen whether this precision holds up on Switch, and whether the beauty of New Kunlun is enough to make players accept a game that never really seeks to give them the upper hand. This game, is just unfair, poorly balanced, and incredibly frustrating almost right from the start. The game has NO invincibility frames, bosses and mini-bosses have parry windows and move at speeds that are sometimes faster than in Sekiro, and bosses can always take you down in 2–3 hits. All fights last several minutes at a stretch and require a nearly perfect execution 95% of the time. There is almost 0 error tolerance. Every mini-boss has massive run-backs. This means that upon death, you have to traverse multiple platforms and/or floors filled with enemies and featuring numerous platforming sections and traps. If you die along the way, your resources are lost. Farming resources is tedious because enemies drop very few. There are areas that are completely dark where you can’t see a thing. Yet you’re still expected to platform and fight enemies while navigating them. Although it’s a parry-based game, you constantly have to fight 2–5 targets at once. The very first real boss in the game has a moveset you’d only expect in the late mid-game. Every boss is a damage sponge, while you barely deal any damage yourself and die extremely quickly. Every boss has 360-degree AOE attacks that hit even if you dash through them or stand behind them because the game has NO FCKNG invincibility frames. Bosses can even hit you if you lay stunned on the ground. Parries only land if you’re facing the boss directly. The parry system also feels inconsistent at times. You have to press the buttons on your controller so hard that you almost break your controller. It's also not possible to teleport freely in this game the way you can between bonfires in Souls games. The map is relatively difficult to navigate, and there isn't a single quest objective displayed on the map. This game is so poorly balanced and over-the-top that it’s no fun at all. The movesets of bosses have 0 time to learn, breathe think and often dont even to heal. This game is not hard its not rewarding its not good its just frustrating and plays like a fan mod with the difficulty slider set to 300%. Ive beat the first 3 major bosses and then gave up in the stealth area because of the massive runbacks to a mini boss. It was just tedious. I couldnt endure it.

The game looks very nice and I genuinely wanted to enjoy it because it seems interesting, too, if a bit cliche. But it is just unbelievably hard. No, I am not willing to nerf it and, even when I do, I can't fix the *reasons* it is unfair (incredibly small pauses, short blocking timeframe, no invulnerability frames, slow down boss timings, etc). All you can do is just give yourself pointlessly high attack damage while feels like you might as well not even bother playing. I tried looking at reviews of this but everyone gives it glowing reviews and somehow glossed over the punishing difficulty level and moreover that it is entirely based off of cumbersome blocking controls. You don't get to play like you want - you either learn the very specific patterns and exact blocking controls they want you to use or you lose. Somehow, on top of that, if you block but not good enough you get hurt, anyway. And if you get hit, be prepared to get hit again and die. You can't block as far as I can tell. Yeah, no. I almost always avoid blocking in every game, as that is not a playstyle I enjoy, so this is already not the game for me. Trying to grind through I gave the first boss a good 20 tries and nothing. I don't see myself being able to get good enough to ever beat him, so this is just getting deleted. Waste of my time and money. Avoid unless you absolutely love challenges.

If Sekiro and Hollow Knight had a baby.
HK has better exploration, but if you think it’s storytelling is to vague and in the background, than this is for you. Many cutscenes, 8+ flashbacks mean that the story is gloriously presented straight to you. And yet, they manage to keep a lot of stuff that the protagonist knows a secret from you, the player & of course there is still plenty of lore overhead for theory and debate. Go play this beautiful game already!

I hop on my ps after school, its friday arvo and i find that Nine Sols is free with ps+ so i download it. Big mistake. First part of the game, beutiful art style great characters, even better storyline. Then I’m thrown into a crowd of some sort of sacrificial ritual. I end up underground fighting ninjas. So cool right? Wrong. I played for 2 hours before reaching the first boss fight which as of right now i have spent 3 whole hours attempting and have only reached the second stage four times. I cant make it easier all i can do is hold on to the tiny strand of sanity i have left, retry over and over again and bite my tongue so i dont lose it and wake up my entire city. I have grown grey hairs from this tortuous endless loop of parrying and detonating a talisman… tf is a talisman!? At least I’ve unlocked sprinting mechanics now. Would recommend

If you’re a fan of Metroidvania games, Nine Sols is definitely worth trying. It’s a very well-made game with a strong story and engaging atmosphere. That said, there are a couple of things you should know before jumping in. First, there’s quite a lot of text to read, which might not appeal to everyone. Second, the combat heavily relies on parrying. While some players will enjoy this mechanic, I personally felt it limited my ability to be creative with my own fighting style. Overall, despite these points, Nine Sols is a very good game and still highly recommended.

An extremely great, and difficult game. What it adds in difficulty it makes up for in solid design. I don't think I'll ever forget my time with this one.

so i am reviewing the game while i haven't finished it yet, because my gamepass pc subscription ended and my save game file was lost after i did reset my pc and the cloud saving didn't work. from what i've seen and what i played, nine sols seemed to have a great potential, the visuals and art style were great and the gameplay was kind of fun, i liked the UI design and also the way the story was going, and the characters. but, i didn't find that specific "spark" that i do find sometimes in video games that end up in my favorites, i don't know if it's just my relationship with metroidvania and 2d games, or the game just came in a time where i lost that passion for video games. overall i liked the game and maybe i would've liked it more if i continued playing till completing it but that was my review for the amount of time i've already played.

A nine points for nine sols that I killed. Each one has very interesting design, especially combined with the party mechanic. The parry, is the main value of this game, and how the developer utilize the parry throughout the game was so creative and fun.

Nine Sols is a really tough game with a steep learning curve, but once it clicks, it really clicks. I don’t think the really great stuff in the game happens until the second half, but when it does, it makes this game win me over. I honestly think my favorite part of this title is the art style, and maybe it’s recency bias, but this might have my favorite art direction out of any game I’ve played. I also adore Yi’s relationship with characters, especially Shuanshuan. Yi himself is an amazing character as well, and one of my new favorite video game protagonists. The combat is also amazing, taking inspiration from Sekiro, though it being so demanding and parry-focused might not make it everyone’s cup of tea. Even the Jades in Nine Sols are balanced well, more balanced than charms from Hollow Knight and Cuphead. Nine Sols isn’t a perfect game—far from it. As interesting as the story is, we don’t learn the really intricate details until far into the game. The payoff is worth it, but I wish it were consistently engaging the whole time. The platforming here also isn’t the best, as I feel Yi’s movement isn’t entirely designed for it, but this could be a skill issue on my part. I know this is more of a preference thing and not an inherent flaw with the game, but it’s a little too dialogue-heavy for my liking. Maybe this is my Hollow Knight brain talking, but I wish certain things were left up to player interpretation, and maybe they could’ve gone for an environmental storytelling approach instead of giving us lore drops for areas. I also feel like there’s no point to the loss of currency system from dying, making you go back to where you died to get it back. Not only that, but you also lose progress to your level up if you don’t make it back to where you died. I get that Nine Sols has some Hollow Knight inspiration, but this system only made sense in that game because it’s not only inspired by Dark Souls, but it also makes sense in the lore. This system just seems pointless in Nine Sols, but it’s more of a minor issue, despite how much I complained about it. And as for the soundtrack, it‘s decent, but at no point was I ever like, “Oh, that music!” This isn’t much of a problem, just thought it was worth mentioning. I will say, this game’s true ending is phenomenal since it brought Yi’s character development full circle, and I actually teared up. I had my issues with Nine Sols, but those didn’t hinder my experience enough to warrant me rating it any lower, and it was a gaming experience I’ll always cherish. I can’t wait to see what this team does next.

Excellent in most aspects, graphic, world design, aesthetics, characters interaction etc. Only some downsides are the lack of depth of some significant bosses (could have more phases for ex), the lack of companionship quest like the one with the merchant (would be awesome if we would battle with him in the final questline) and some other minors. But all of then could only detract 1 point for me, overall, the game is still beautifully made and is very memorable.

What can I not say about this game? It's beautiful, a true masterpiece. The combat is some of the best in gaming and feels like all the parts I love about Hollow Knight mixed with Sekiro. The parry system makes fights feel very back in forth, and similar to Sekiro, this leads to fights that feel very real, combined with your style of talisman, which will reward a more aggressive or passive playstyle. And the art oh the art! The 3d mixed with 2d with the "Taopunk" style makes every area feel unique, and I caught myself just staring at the background sometimes. This is all wrapped in a bow with a pulling and emotional story with amazing characters that never cease to be interesting and enjoyable to talk to or do quests for. Overall, if you're into harder games and the Metroidvania style, this is a must-play. Also, there is a story mode for those who would like a more relaxing experience.

Straordinario metroidvania con combattimenti incentrati sui parry. Una gemma indie da gustare fino in fondo, difficile e sfidante, con uno stil grafico godibile.

This game is incredible.
The visual and map design of every area is absolutely stunning, and completely immersive. Every aspect of the self-declared Taopunk world is fleshed out and displayed in all its disgusting and beautiful glory. The characters are all real, fleshed out and solid, having complete arcs based in chinese myth and philosophy, and is a beautiful execution of the principles of taoism. Every interaction stirs joy, adoration, terror or sadness, and the revealing of past and future moments keeps an immensely strong emotional core throughout the game. The smooth combat and the parry/talisman system is innovative, fast, and incredible. The final boss is the best boss I've ever fought in a metroidvania to date, yes even more than Silksong. The quality of life features and conveniences seamlessly fit into the harrowingly difficult gameplay loop, and demands constant attention, both during the softest and the roughest moments. An utter masterpiece that stays engaging throughout its playtime, and leaves you with a lot to think about.

It has an incredible story with a couple of well written plot twists, in addition, the story is shown in the cinematics and you dont have to go yt or anywhere to understand it. I like almost everything about this game. First of all fighting mechanics are great. Parry, the thing you detonate, internal damage and the other 2 parry mechanics are great. I like how it tells its story, characters and its lore. 9 out of 10 maybe even 9.5

The lack of invincibility frames after taking a hit or falling was really frustrating. Most Souls-like games give you ways to grind if you run into a part you just can’t get past, but this one didn’t feel as forgiving. On top of that, the story was too dull to motivate me to push through the combat. Got to Lady Ethereal and dropped the game

I've played dozens of Metroidvanias and Soulslike/Soulslite games. This is by far the best Soulsvania I've ever played and the ONLY one I'd rate HIGHER than Hollow Knight. HK is a 10/10. This is an 11/10. It's also extremely difficult, but there is a story mode that makes it slightly easier. The combination of Sekiro-like combat and MV-like combat works so well. The combat is excellent. The exploration is good. The boss fights are absolutely spectacular and better than that of any Fromsoft souls game or any MV. Lady Ethereal is amazing. It actually has a good story that's not just lore like other soulslike/soulslite games.

Surprised in a very good way. Basic but satisfying gameplay, beautiful aesthetic and breaks with the lack of narrative some of this kind of games have. Bad things? A little bit of signage is missing on the map and there's a difficulty spike that's too big in one part.

Perfect blend of Hollow Knight and Sekiro. Atmosphere is not even comparable with HK tho. There’s some issue with the storytelling that I can’t quite put my finger on, which makes it harder to get immersed. Even though the storytelling has its flaws, the story itself is very beautiful and impactful. Combat is crazy good. Parrying and talisman attacks are so satisfying. Even though the bosses can be incredibly challenging at times, they still feel fair. The jade system isn’t bad, but it doesn’t feel very impressive. Equipping and unequipping jades just feels like playing with numbers. If each jade were unique, like the charms in Hollow Knight, and had visible effects on the game world, it would have been much better.

Well this game does not value players time letting them running back and forth 30% of the playing time with no real waypoint teleport function in place. Also the final boss is just a pure crap...either you have to grind this fight for several more hours or switch to story mode. The difficulty spike of the final boss fight is pure bs. Sure people with no real life will praise it as it can fill their empty lives for several more hours but the rest of players will be just frustrated.

Nine sols is a great game with great combat and good story, why 4/10? Because it has the worst boss ever existed with the most poor design and most glitched move set ever, defeating this boss is purely on luck weather he's gonna glitch this time or no, gotta give it to the devs I have never seen a less devoleped boss in my life, great game with a strong weak point, fuxi

As a metroidvania fan, i can say that this game have eveything the genre have to offer on highest quality levels. Game design is perfect, i'm not a huge fan of mixing classic styles with futuristic ones, but this game made it perfectly. The game is beautiful, soundtrack is great and the combat is clean. Nine Sols has some features and references from Hollow Knight (not a problem at all),but the game has it's on personality.

I played on the standard difficulty — presumably the mode the developers intended — Nine Sols is a frustrating, poorly designed, and exhausting experience that fails in nearly every core aspect, except for its **** story, which should be a strong point in a game of this style, is one of its biggest problems. It constantly interrupts gameplay with expository scenes that are either irrelevant or poorly developed, forcing the player to sit through a pseudo-scientific narrative that lacks coherence and fails to add anything meaningful to the overall experience. Instead of enhancing immersion, the story actively disrupts the **** map design, especially for a metroidvania, is also flawed. There’s no clear sense of progression. You're frequently forced to return to early-game areas to access new regions that only become available much later. The lack of fast travel between checkpoints makes this tedious and repetitive. The checkpoint system itself is poorly implemented — you can’t teleport between nodes, which means you're forced to walk the same paths multiple times, dealing with enemies you’ve already fought, in sections that offer no new challenge or reward.Combat is where the game truly falls apart. It’s clunky, limited, and poorly balanced. The character is locked into animation frames that can only be canceled by taking damage — a system that strips away player control, especially in high-pressure situations. The green parry system, for instance, only works while jumping, which severely limits its usability. When facing multiple enemies, parrying one often means being helpless against the second, since the animation delay prevents quick follow-up actions. This makes many encounters feel not just hard, but unfair. Level design compounds these issues by placing enemies in ways that turn encounters into frustrating messes rather than skill-based challenges.Even the boss fights — which occasionally show some promise — are undermined by the same issues. Delays after getting knocked down or hit are excessively long, even after upgrading abilities meant to reduce this. The result is a game where mastering the mechanics isn't enough — you’re constantly punished by design flaws that take the control away from the **** of this leads to a gameplay style where, rather than exploring and engaging in combat, you find yourself just running through already-cleared areas, trying to reach the next unexplored checkpoint without taking damage. Mistakes can cost major progress due to the poor checkpoint placement, so the game becomes a repetitive race instead of a satisfying **** only standout feature of Nine Sols is its hand-drawn animation. The visual art is undeniably beautiful and gives the game a unique aesthetic identity. But that alone can’t carry a game where everything else — story, combat, map design, and progression — is so fundamentally flawed. I'm genuinely baffled by the high scores this game has received elsewhere. What I found was a poorly balanced, unpolished, and ultimately boring experience.

Imo, this is the best combat system in any 2D Metroidvania. It has a Sekiro feel to the defense vs offense blend.

It's ok. Neither Sekiro nor Hollow Knight.
Mechanics are good, but some parries and green parries aren't that smooth. Charms are not as interesting as in HK, plot is not only boring but overloaded with some fake science mumbo jumbo (why bother adding it?). Pretty much everything gets repetitive quickly...
