Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is perhaps the best version of the game possible. Konami tuned the graphics, added nice gameplay and quality-of-life additions. The graphics is stealing the focus and 3D audio is welcome. The best games tend to age very slowly – this is another fine example.

Metal Gear Solid Delta is a great way to experience the all-time classic, whether for the first time or as a nostalgic trip. The gameplay elements feel fresh thanks to their original, groundbreaking nature and their corresponding refined, polished upgrades. However, for its price, there were no valid motives not to remake the whole story and dialogues from scratch as well, which ultimately held this game back from the possibility of being one of the best remakes of all time.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is exactly the kind of return the legendary third installment deserves. Its visuals and attention to detail are breathtaking, from weather effects and mud clinging to your gear to the gradual wear on camouflage and scars on the protagonist’s body. Delta stands as the ultimate version of one of the greatest games ever made and the current pinnacle of stealth-action.

"Delta" is more of a modern day remaster than a true remake of "Snake Eater". The game is virtually the same as it was in 2004 on the PlayStation 2. But the biggest difference is the stunning photo realistic graphics courtesy of the Unreal Engine. On top of that, the gameplay has been given some minor "quality of life" adjustments for it to feel smoother than before. This remake's "New Style" control scheme is closer to "The Phantom Pain" than MGS 3 in terms of fluidity. However, the developers did include an optional "Legacy" control scheme and color palette, if you prefer the 2004 look and feel. A nice extra is the return of the "Snake Vs. Monkey" mini-game in which Snake hunts the apes from "Ape Escape". Overall, this is the best version of "Metal Gear Solid 3", even without the involvement of creator Hideo Kojima. I'd rate it with a 9 out of 10.

I realy enjoyed the cut scene and fighting bosses,
and the story is awesome,
but i dont love a gameplay the MG5 is better...

My only complaint is the Unreal Engine, which takes away some of the characters' facial expressions. However, it's a 1:1 reimagining, which is spectacular.

Metal Gear Solid Delta might be the least necessary remake ever produced, but it might be my favorite remake for exactly that reason. It’s just Snake Eater with modern graphics and controls, and that’s actually more than I’ve come to expect from the industry these days. By being such a faithful reissue, Delta has secured its place as the definitive way I play MGS3 - I can’t say that about any of the more imaginative remakes we’ve seen in recent years.

Absolutely the golden standard of a remake 10/10 would buy more remakes of metal gear if they kept it up like this

Did everything here age well? Heck no. Is it still a long-winded exposition bomb at multiple points? Absolutely. But if you’re here because of the original, I want you to know that everything in the OG Snake Eater that might have made you happy, sad, and/or mad, are all still here. All of the action, all of the stealth, all of the cheesy one-liners… For those of you who are jumping in for the first time? Have some patience and try to enjoy the rollercoaster. This one is definitely for the fans.

With its striking visuals, refined controls, and smart quality-of-life updates, this remake is the definitive way to experience one of gaming’s greatest stealth adventures. Despite some performance hiccups, it’s a faithful yet modern revival that honors the original while making it shine for a new generation.

This new version of the game will definitely be someone's first foray into the entire Metal Gear Solid franchise, which is honestly the biggest and most important thing about the whole Delta release. And chances are that by the end of the credits this person will convert into a new fan that will carry the series legacy into the future. This is good, isn't it?

Metal Gear Solid Delta captures the essence of the original to a T, but fails to expand on it.

With Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Konami has crafted a visually arresting re-release so fawning and reverent that it reads entirely incurious. Fans of the source material will no doubt relish the opportunity to play a more modern-feeling take on a generational piece of art, but such a seemingly important work should inspire more.

I played this game for a long time and i also did the platinum. For me this game represents the way kojima thinks with better graphics. It is so cool and funny to learn the art that kojima made in this game.

It's not Remake, not even close. I call it MGS 3 Remastered. Konami decided to make it based on the original version. People love it whose play MGS: 3 but not as they liked third game.
It's ok, I felt the nostalgia.

I'm a big fan of the metal gear saga, but the original metal gear solid 3 is really too cutscene-heavy for my taste, and so is this remake. I also think that the extremely over the top scenes as well as some controversial scenes with EVA (if you know you know) belong to the 90s, if you want to remake a game like this you have to have the guts to make some aggiustments otherwise the game will inevitably feel awkward. I expecially disliked the scenes with Ocelot and Volgin. I don't know why but there's something about them that is too cartoonysh and it felt even more awkward with the high quality grafic and textures compared to the original release. Also the combat is definitely not at its peak: the buttons felt weird in some cases; the enemies spot literally from behind walls; the survival aspect of the game, which is presented in actions like eating and healing yourself, was never really a protagonist like it probably should have been. Of course there are some things that I loved, expecially the story and characters, but since they were not changed at all from the original release I don't know if I should even account for them or not since we're talking about the remake. To wrap things up, it was overall a good and solid experience (no pun intended), but I hope to see a different type of remake for metal gear solid 1 and 2, much like Capcom did with their resident evil remakes

Play the original game.
At best, Delta is an inferior and souless version of the game released in 2004, at worst, is a generic mess, with incredible unresponsive controls, and literally **** I dont mean the pathetic technical performance (720p and 60fps in 2025, lmao), I mean broken, as in the AI of the enemies is broken, they will see and hear you no matter what you do, unless you use paid DLC, to balance the new mechanics so the game wouldnt be too easy, they just broke the AI. And to balance the bosses they just gave them a zillion HP, and your bullets will literally go through **** mix that with the fact that Snake controls like a$$ (Phantom Pain came out a decade ago, ffs), and you have a miserable experience.
Graphics might look pretty, but incredible generic, if you played any other game running on Unreal 5, this looks exactly the same as all of them, no art direction.
Seriously, play the original game.

METAL GEAR SOLID Δ: SNAKE EATER This is a 2025 “remake” of the classic 2004 game “Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater” Lets start with the improvements to the game. Graphics Online updates That’s it. It is unacceptable to have a game this janky in **** controls feel so clunky and un responsive, it is like you are filing a request with the game to perform an action, and at some point in the future the game will decide whether to follow it or not. Admittedly some of the issues are copied from the original game, and some game purists will say they like them, if that is the case, go play the original game! I’m not even talking about the “legacy” classic controls I am talking about the new style updated controls. Here are a few examples. Creep mode: You can now toggle creep mode so you don’t have to hold the button all the time you are creeping. Great you might think, NO! If you want to change stance from walking crouching or crawling you have to deactivate creep mode and reactivate it. Q: Won’t they hear you and go on alert if you are creeping behind them and deactivate it to stand up? A: YES, YES THEY DO Lie down: When the enemy goes on alert because you changed stance, they will hit you, when they do you will fall to the ground. Ok that’s fine I will just stand up again wont I? NO! You don’t stand up ever again! You have to manually give the request to stand up and that takes a while, during which time the enemy will be ready to strike you down again. Putting you in a cycle of contestant and pointless paddling of the stand up button until you die. Grapple: If you have no gun equipped you cannot grapple people with your arms and choke them out with your bare hands for… *checks notes* NO RATIONAL LOGICAL REASON WHAT SO EVER!!!! You still have arms and hands but noooo you can’t use them without holding a gun! These are just a few examples of awful jank that make this game feel like you are playing a 2004 game and not a 2025 one, and to me, that’s not enjoyable. I played the game in 2004, I still have the disk & my original fat boi playstation 2. I could replay that janky 2004 game anytime, but I choose not to because this level of jank is not fun in 2025 when you have games like Ghost of Tsushima & Horizon. Why couldn’t they have remade it like Blooper team remade the fantastic Silent Hill 2 remake? With modern controls, modern game systems, modern game layout? If people are such purists that they don’t want that then they can play the original, its on every console and format in the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection. This is the kind of nostalgia I don’t want, to remember how bad and janky the games I loved when I was younger were. And how they were hard mostly because of the bad controls, camera and game systems. If this was a brand new game IP in 2025 and it was this janky, it would be a massive 3/10 failure and nobody would buy it. Also as a side note: They could have removed all of the “press a button to stare a woman’s chest” interactions, something else I feel is unacceptable in 2025.
SummaryA remake of the 2004 game METAL GEAR SOLID 3: SNAKE EATER. The same gripping story and engrossing world, but now with cutting-edge graphics and 3D audio, which bring the jungle to life. Get ready for the ultimate survival, stealth and action experience.
