Merchant of the Skies has some rough edges, but the overall experience is an engrossing one, scratching a variety of gaming itches at once since it fuses resource management together with tycoon elements and base building. The controls and presentation are a tad clumsy on Switch, but the sense of discovery in this off-kilter world is fun. I enjoyed spending time in this world.

Merchant of the Skies is just disappointingly flat. It’s enjoyable enough to play through — once. However, after you’ve accumulated your wealth, there’s little left to be done. Another layer of challenge would have done the game a world of good, but as it stands, it’s just a one-way trip.

Definitely partial when it comes to merchant role playing games. You haul merchandise in a huge sky map that you start out not knowing. I love finding the best trade routes. I didn't enjoy as much making other ships go around these same routes though. I love the aesthetic and I'm also partial for good pixel art. I don't think I ever finished it, I just go around the map doing whatever I feel like doing.
