Mega Coin Squad is a superbly entertaining title.

In 60 minutes, this will change you from tentative, stodgy muppet to an all-round offensive terror. A terrifically balanced platformer that'll coax out the perfectionist speedrunner in us all.

Mega Coin Squad provides a unique and colorful 2D platforming experience for gamers, but its lack of online multiplayer really keeps it from reaching its highest potential.

While Mega Coin Squad could've gone the extra mile with more single player oomph and online play, what's here is more than serviceable for those looking for a great time with some friends – or collecting coins on their own. The gameplay is original and a lot of fun, and the presentation is right up the alley of Genesis/SNES owners, right down to the cute animations.

Mega Coin Squad would have worked incredibly well on arcade machines, but it still works on console. A great choice if you want a game to play with friends.

An arena shooter heavily influenced by 8 and 16-bit era games like Super Mario Bros., Smash Bros. and Street Fighter. Frenzied and funny, it shines in local multiplayer while the single player campaign proved to be overly short.

Ultimately Mega Coin Squad isn’t a bad game, nor is it a memorable game. It’s something to pass the time on for a few minutes.
