Too much is borrowed to make this a sparkling, innovative game.

If Mayday sounds like an okay game so far, let me hit you with the clincher: the AI and unit selection is atrocious to point of being unforgivable.

Missions are over before you can blink, and frankly, they're not much fun.

It has a nice wrapper and the budget price is right, but as soon as you hit the second or third mission, you'll be ready to break the disc in half and return the pieces to the store for credit.

In a genre that has withstood its share of inferior games over the years, it's true that Mayday probably isn't the worst real-time strategy game to date. But that's the best thing to be said for it.
