I don't know, for a game that's described as this vast and complex sandbox where you can do anything, there sure is little incentive to do anything at all. In the standard start, you are plopped into a dead-ish little village where you basically can't afford anything other than food and bed.I was really looking forward to exploring around, seeing if I can find a person to help or someone to follow, a cause to join, but apparently that's not a part of the game. There are mercenaries who want you to hire them, but there are no opportunities for yourself to offer your services to anyone else. In a game that bases its marketing on you being equal to the npcs and not a "chosen one" character, that's extremely contradictory. You are the chosen one, because you're the only character that seems to act on their own. I found a faction that called themselves the Shinobi Thieves and thought they would be my saving, that they would give me a story to create, a cause to join. But alas, all you get is "So you want to become a Shinobi Thief hehe?" You can't even ask what the hell that means. It doesn't matter that "all NPCs have their own lives" if you can't even talk to the majority of ****'s supposedly a good and huge sandbox that gives you loads of tools to create your own narrative, but honestly the seams of this simulation are so easy to ripple and see through that I felt I was better off refunding. I know I played a very short time, but after fully exploring the starting location, there was nothing to engage with. If I were to "create my own narrative", it would all be in my head, not in the game.

Kenshi feels less like a traditional video game and more like a forgotten chronicle buried beneath sand and rust. It does not hand you a story. You will be beaten, enslaved, starved, abandoned in the dust, stripped of your limbs, your plans, and your confidence. And yet, for reasons difficult to explain, you continue walking through its wastelands.Because Kenshi is not truly about victory. It is about transformation.Little by little, the game stops confronting you with enemies and begins confronting you with yourself: your impatience, your greed, your pride, your inability to let go, your desperate need to survive one more day. Every mistake becomes part of your history. Every scar becomes **** world is harsh, strange, poetic, and almost completely indifferent to your existence. Cities feel temporary. Factions rise and decay without caring whether you live or die. The silence of its deserts carries a weight that few games ever **** somehow, within that brutality, Kenshi creates something rare: genuine attachment. Not through scripted heroism, but through the fragile stories you create yourself. A starving drifter becomes a leader. A mutilated survivor becomes a legend. A ruined outpost slowly becomes a city.Very few games trust the player enough to be this unforgiving, this opaque, and this free. Kenshi does. And that is precisely why it stays with you long after you stop playing.

this game is miserable in the absolute best of ways. with the exception of daggerfall (my beloved) no game even comes close to making you feel like such a pathetic grain of sand in a massive world. you are nothing, and it requires so so many hours of genuinely grueling labor to even start to feel ever so slightly powerful. one of the best immersive sims to ever be created

Le jeu est laid et mal optimisé à cause de son moteur vieillissant.... Mais ce sont ses seuls défauts. Pour le reste je n'ai jamais vu un jeu aussi riche et aussi surprenant. Un monde vaste où vous pouvez faire à peu près tout ce que vous voulez et devenir qui vous voulez. À cela s'ajoute une communauté très active et de nombreux modes qui vous permettent de personnaliser un peu plus votre jeu. J'ai mis du temps à m'y mettre mais aujourd'hui il est le deuxième jeu auquel j'ai le plus joué de ma vie.... Et ça il l'a fait sur 1 an **** j'en ai 32 ! Je ne saurais définir ce jeu car il rentre dans la catégorie des bacs à sable et que seul vous pourrez le définir. Vous préférez en faire un jeu de gestion et gérer votre colonie, c'est possible. Vous préférez en faire un RPG et entraîner votre personnage principal, c'est possible. Vous préférez être un agriculteur et faire vos petites cultures, c'est possible. Vous préférez les RTS et créer des armées pour envahir vos ennemis, c'est possible. Bref les possibilités sont si nombreuses et vous pouvez les mixer entre elles ! Ah ! Et le jeu a été réalisé par un seul et unique mec...

A very specific game, more fun to watch on stream than to play. It has a variety of possibilities and mechanics, but it's a sandbox and has no real goal. Even though I've played a lot of "games without a goal" like Minecraft or X3, I quickly got bored with both here and RimWorld. So, if you really liked that game, try RimWorld - it's very similar and you might like it.

Este juego es una obra de arte, detras de cada bug, de cada pantalla de carga y cada bajon de fps se encuentra el juego mas entretenido, rico en lore y con mecanicas quiza no nuevas pero tan bien usadas y tanta variedad que kenshi es uno de esos juegos que tu primera partida es un bodrio, probablemente termines desintalandolo (como hice yo) porque el juego es tan abrumadormente grande y te toma tan poco de la mano que uno no esta acostumbrado, los tutoriales son solo por escrito y nadie los lee yo incluido, kenshi es como la vida misma, la mejor forma de aprender y es prueba y error. su mundo es tan basto y tan peligroso que te hace andar atento en todo momento, nisiquiera puedes derrotar a un muerto de hambre desnutrido, pero nunca te sientes tan bien en un juego como cuando derrotas a un enemigo en kenshi, ni hablar de un jefe o inclusive una faccion enemiga al completo (Nisiquiera los souls se comparan) no es un juego de habilidad aunque esta si sirva, es un juego donde todo requiere planeacion y algo de suerte, la cantidad de veces que terminas saliendo beneficiado de un evento totalmente catastrofico es gigante (Tambien sucede alrevez) kenshi es un juego realmente UNICO, 200+ horas y aun sigo jugandolo con mods, el que no haya jugado kenshi no conoce la verdadera experiencia RPG Postapocaliptico

Kenshi is probably the best game I've ever played with a close 2nd being Rimworld. I regret putting this game off as long as I did because of the subpar graphics. The mechanics are tremendous and extremely detailed. This game was obviously a labor of love deserving of high praise. Note: It's more fun to play modded like increasing the stack sizes and adding copper mining.

Kenshi es u juego que combina muchas mecánicas de una gran forma y eso siendo de un juego indi es un juegazo, hay que dedicarle muchas horas al juego, pero cuando ya entiendes que tienes que hacer o que quieres hacer porque en este juego haces lo que tu quieras te deja tirado en el medio de la nada siendo una persona normal, me recuerda un poco a Project Zombod que es otro juego que me encanta, Kenshi es un juego muy recomendado si te gusta fácil le podes echar muchísimas horas, yo tengo ya casi 1000 horas que la comunidad se expanda porfa, hablar sobre el Bug master, pelar con un escuadrón entero contra Cat-Lon o TinFist y que le saque extremidades de un solo golpe es épico y su lore sobre el primer imperio, como llegamos a donde estamos me parece increíble, cuando saquen Kenshi 2 sera el juego definitivo.

One of the bests game i ever play, I could be annoying the loads screen, or graphics, But its the only bad thing i can get to the game.

Kenshi is an open-world post-apocalyptic survival RPG with a captivating 870 sq km world map full of vibrant zones and lore of an ancient era to discover. Think SIMS but instead of worrying about your character's hygiene and social life you have to worry about cannibals, slavers, blood spiders, religious zealots, bandits, ninjas, and evil robots. Explore alone with an old rusty katana, or with a thirty-person squad armed to the teeth with polearms and crossbows. Live as a nomad or create a network of farms and forts and secret towers. Trade goods, smuggle hash, or steal. Collect bounties on wanted individuals, or free slaves from captivity. Raid ancient ruins for powerful forgotten technology or get eaten alive by swamp raptors. Kenshi is a non-linear experience that leaves players with a plethora of different playstyles to explore in a chaotic and unforgiving sandbox of possibilities. The allure of the world has blinded me to the dated graphics, but there have admittedly been some bugs I couldn't easily overlook. I have had to use Shift-Alt-F11 to unstick characters before, so keep that in mind. Not sure how this works to unstick them, this is just something I found online and it has worked several times. Also, I have experienced some crashes when the game speed is maxed out and I am walking from one map zone into another. Pausing briefly and allowing the game to load (when it says "loading" but still lets me move the camera/take actions) and saving before walking a long distance has all but completely negated the frustration I was experiencing with these crashes. If this was an [insert AAA developer here] release with a massive studio and team behind it, I would have lowered my rating due to the aforementioned performance issues. However, Kenshi was created largely by one person and deserves as much slack for its shortcomings (I doubt they had an army of play testers) as praise for its innovations. All that to say that I am having a wonderful time playing this game and you probably will also. 10/10.

Kenshi is the perfect game, not only by the world you are in but also for the great mechanics of the game, kenshi is really the defenitive game

Kenshi feels like an experiment, as you play you will constantly see that it could have been an 11 out of 10. You can see the ideas Chris Hunt had and they are absolutely awesome its just that the execution is lacking, if this game had a bigger team and more funding it would be a sensation up there with the greats but unfortunately falls short in the rpg department. The people you meet have only 2 options when they see you, kick your ass or do nothing and that can feel very surface level. There are many aspects of the game like this for example the factions are really interesting and will definitely draw you in but when it comes to interacting with them there are very few options. That being said Kenshi is phenomenal i put 300 hours in the first month i had it and would definitely recommend it. It just hurts to see how this gem could be so much more

This game is nearly perfect, with its only real drawback being the graphics engine. It truly defines what an open world experience should be. While it doesn’t handhold you through the mechanics, that’s part of the adventure you get to discover everything on your own. The game’s depth is incredible; you can create limitless stories, which makes it endlessly engaging and adaptable. Performance can be a bit rough, but that’s understandable given the long development time. If you’re considering it, don’t hesitate dive in and experience it for yourself.

i'm editing my review after the game became unplayable due to infinite loading screens. i tried all three recent autosaves and had the same issue, so my file is basically gone unless i want to revert to a significantly dated backup. i'd mostly maxed out my tech tree with the exception of a few recipes i need to find, trained up a full army of skeletons in combat and labor, and it takes a lot of grind to get there just to find that your file is inaccessible. essentially, the more you progress in the game, the more likely your file will become corrupted in some way. the game is in the process of being ported to unreal, and the sequel will probably have less bugs, but it's really difficult to recommend kenshi due to technical issues that essentially punish progress. [i recommend that you use a lot of quality of life mods, since kenshi was made mostly by a single person and has a lot of bugs or issues. i also recommend that you don't use too many non canon or complete overhaul mods, since there is a point to many aspects of it's vanilla state. it's still very much worth playing if you are okay with some of that, and the game is not as oppressively difficult or bleak as many reviews and youtubers make it out to be. if you use the right settings, it's just a nice open world RTS with lots of RPG elements.]

Kenshi is mainly a RPG with an optional side of colony management that only seeks to expand upon and compliment the RPG elements of the game. It plays a bit like Mount and Blade Warband in which once you've finished with the creation of your character(s), you're pretty much free to do whatever you want with no real goal imposed upon you. If desired you could play as a treasure hunter, group of settlers, merchant, slaver, or even a religious fanatic. Whatever you decide to do, once you first enter the world of Kenshi you will find it has a unique blend of technology, bits and pieces from feudal Japan, and post apocalyptic themes, which reminds me a bit of the setting for Samurai Jack. As for the combat/health systems, its problem one of the best I've seen. While fighting your character will swing their weapon which will either connect with and damage its target, miss, or be blocked, all with some decent combat animations. You and your enemy won't have a standard HP bar but rather HP bars for each part of your bodies. Get hit in the arm too much and it may break or even be severed. In either victory or defeat you still may find your character bloodied and crawling to the nearest town for medical supplies. Lastly, Kenshi has a extensive settlement building system that can be quickly be summarized up with, you can build anywhere and anything as long as its not too close to a major city. In short, if you like games similar to that of Mount and Blade, Skyrim/Fallout, or Rimworld, then you'll enjoy Kenshi.

Kenshi is a true gem of independent video games that is full of good ideas, intelligent systems and depth despite its limited budget. Here is a list of the Positive Points and Negative Points of this game. I warn you it will be very long for the Positive. Good points : - Freedom- Gigantic World / Exploration - Apocalyptic landscapes - Interesting lore, quite hidden/discreet - Well thought out progression - Activities: “Bounty Hunting, Theft, Kidnapping, etc” - Combat system - Base creation, Defense with turrets- Weather (Acid rain, sandstorm...)- Day/Night cycle- Stealth that varies depending on the light - Change in the state of the world based on our actions/choices - The dialogues between the members of the squad are very funny- The different factions are varied (we can choose with our allies or our enemies)- Blood/corpse attracts scavengers - The physique of our characters changes depending on our activities/skills- Dismemberments which have an impact on animations, stats and combat postures. - Replacement of missing limbs with robotics- Having more skill in an area changes the animations (e.g. stealth or martial arts) - The Bestiary - You can create your own squad (armies + animals) - Different types of weapons (heavy, light, crossbows) - Craft system, assign specific professions to our characters based on their races (learning boost) Negative points : - Bugs - Pathfinding - Creation of base walls not working correctly - The graphics are bad - The DA is not crazy - Lack of more lootable resources - Lack of side activities and quests Kenshi should be done by all video game enthusiasts, because it demonstrates that from an idea, a few concepts and a solid foundation, you can build a real empire. Some people love it, others not, many doesn't know it. The atmosphere and the vibe of the game is very cool, dystopian and immersive. Game is original and unique, rich in mechanics. But is also junky, but that's ok. That can irritate, but for just a short moment. However, to me the game lacks a bit more of something. I played it for the first time in June 2023, and spent probably a week or so with it, made a team, bult a base, researched stuff, bought many buildings, and ultimately got bored of it. Now, a year later in may 2024, I watched again some Kenshi vids and thought will give it a go again, but this time, I played it only for several hours before getting bored. I wish it would hold me for more time. And that is why I think game needs something more. Not necessarily a story, but rather a bunch of individual stories of npc's that are on their own missions, and by them joining your group their stories can became part of your story. This approach would allow to keep the "make your own story" aspect of the game, while simultaneously would enrich the world. Regardless, huge respect to the creator for sticking to his guns and actually making something original, unique, and charming in several way. I recommend this game to methodical or autistic people. Looking forward to Kenshi2.

Let me start of by saying I love this game. It is one of my all time favourite Games by now and I can't wait for Kenshi 2. I've put more tha 500 HOurs into Kenshi and can't remember how often I got my **** kicked in. However I can still tell you about every single run of mine and can say with utmost certainty that I have only scrached the surface of what kind of stories this game can create. It is a true sandbox game and I can't recommend it highly enough but I also can't recommend it to everyone. The Kenshi universe is one of the most intrigueing andf facinating worlds I have ever experienced and I am so glad I did.

This is one of my favorite games ever. With that being said, I am obviously biased. I tend to forget how long it took me to learn how to play this game, how long it took to learn the mechanics, controls, and the UI. And just to get it out of the way, yes, this game does have some technical issues. This game was, and still is, ahead of it's time, and the limitations of the era are evident. Kenshi is squad based RPG, a simulation, base builder, sandbox, among many other descriptors. It takes place in a post-apocalyptic samurai hell world with many different races and beasts. This game is BRUTAL; one of the starts you can choose is to literally be a slave, a playthrough which I highly recommend. You level up the skills of your character(s) by actually doing the skill, which feels fulfilling. There are a plethora of skills, of which some races are better or worse at than others. I should also mention the combat, as it is very important. The combat might seem janky on the surface, but I assure you, it is something special. Once you choose to attack a target, the characters attack automatically. Individual limbs can become damaged, and even hacked off. Its difficult to put into words how satisfying the combat is, due to how original and unique it is, it's something that must be experienced in order to understood how great how it feels. This game is whatever you make of it--your only goal is to simply survive. You can choose to be broke and destitute, or you could be a rich thief who manages is a city or town. I don't want to say too much about the game, as I think it's incredibly satisfying to just dive into it headfirst. This game is like if The Sims and Runescape fused together and were wrapped in a post-apocalyptic samurai aesthetic. This game harkens back to being a kid and playing with your toys, letting your imagination fuel the fun. This right here, is a real ass mother **** game.

Rather than porting kenshi 1, fixing the bugs and adding everything that the developers wanted they proceed by making Kenshi 2. which leaves the game in an unfished, buggy, poor performing mess. I am happy that it was a success but I am not happy with their decision, considering, a new gaming company and they follow the exact same steps of the bigger companies; by not finishing what they started; for the best and smoothest experience possible.

This is a masterpiece of a sandbox RPG. It is the kind of game that is very punishing at first, but as you learn how it works you will become more and more powerful. This game has some technical shortcomings such as inconsistent terrain-mesh and loading, but these are not enough to truly detract from the experience. Also mod support is a big plus for a game that is already very replayable.

This game is amazing. The only other game that get's close to Kenshi is Rimworld. It is funny how you start travelling with a goal in mind and so many things started happening that it changes your adventure entirely. For me is clearly one of the best Strategy Colony Sim in the market.

The game is very diverse, the freedom that the game gives to you is it so big that you can do what ever you want without any aids like in another games, just at the beginning is really difficult. I put a 9/10 because there are thing that they have to improve, but the game I really recommend it if you like a challenge.

A labour of love with some rough edges bur something I can put thousands of hours trying different things, playstyles, enemies and just seeing the empty horizon of the isolated world.

For example, to quickly increase your attack, you have to fight enemies who have a higher attack level than you, but in 90%, at the beginning of the game you will lose. If you're lucky you'll be beaten into a coma. Don't forget that you can be enslaved, dismembered, eaten and just killed. so yes, a painful experience.Construction is good, literally build your own business or even city,lol.Take customers or get **** by bandits!Don't want to get your ass kicked in your own city? Buy a house in a city that will protect you!All easy!(Don't forget to lock your house doors)Steal! Rob! Kill! Revenge! Craft! Sell slaves (lol)! Be a slave! And much more in the world of kenshi. The minuses are: really outdated graphics.I understand that the game was done by one person, but I can not hide the fact that even with these graphics game is very poorly optimized. No matter what killing machine you play with,kenshi put it on its knees at a certain point,the most terrible place for fps,it's probably the swamp,storm gap Coast,in my case.There are a bunch of mods that cure the bad optimization,but can't completely get rid of **** for character animations .They are too few. Just a very few animation for battles, interaction with objects, etc.I want more.Autowalk, sometimes behaves very strangely. Instead of going exactly to the goal, set on the map, the character can sometimes choose completely wrong way, and just stop for no reason. There are some places where you could logically walk and get there, but the game does not allow it. On the map there are some objects through which you can literally walk, I'm not kidding.Once I went through the texture of a large stone, iron wrecks through the remains of a ship, it's not nice, it needs fixes!Character Editor is not bad but too **** even able to choose the color of the eyes, facial expression, birthmarks, etc. I think sometimes that the faces of the characters are strange, as if their faces are empty, no shadows and too "plastic".Despite these minuses, the game is great, the best in its genre!

I'll cut to the chase- If you want a game with great charm and personality, this is the one for ****'s great.

The most atmospheric and intense game ever, I can't wait for part 2 to come out
