If you’re looking for a new type of action rpg that has a good mix of many other games, Hell Is Us is a good choice to try out. The game has a lot to explore and it’s not just about combat. It has much exploring, puzzle solving and character interaction throughout its gameplay. Fans of Dark Souls that want a “Dark Souls” type of challenge, should look elsewhere, because this game only has the core mechanics of Dark Souls and it basically ends there. Hell is Us has a very fresh feel to it overall and I highly recommend it to players that want a dark story mixed with various RPG elements taken from different games.

Hell is Us may not have been made with a substantial budget but by choosing a path less travelled with its unusual design, it feels more rewarding to a jaded player sick of being led by the nose in many in a blockbuster rival.

This game takes the combat of something like Final Fantasy XV, the style of world-building of Elden Ring, and the setting from Silent Hill. A unique and brilliant mix of games that scratches an itch I didn't know I needed scratching. The combat generally builds upon the typical ARPG flow, using light attack to generally deal damage, but charged attacks use a resource that must be replenished, and equippable abiliteis have lengthy cooldowns. The stamina costs for all actions taken are tied to your current health, meaning longer battles will take their toll, and as you receive damage, you will find yourself becoming exhausted quicker and more frequently. This is balanced by the ability to restore a portion of health when dealing any damage by engaging a brief QTE. This allows the player on the back foot to take a defensive approach, jabbing the enemy briefly here and there, until they have restored enough health, without the need of restorative items.

Suprisingly good title. Graphics was even better than I expected from game like that. Combat is not the best in.that game but not terrible too. But, this game is not about combat... More exploring and casual puzzles. Good relaxing title which not trying to be something more than it is. I'm really glad to try that.

Not many modern video games embroil you into an absorbing world and invites you into that visceral world by giving you a myriad of reasons to explore it while being encouraged to find your own way through it without the necessity of hand-holding, but Hell Is Us is one of those special games. You could deride Hell Is Us as a follower of the video game industry’s most celebrated action and RPG games, but by doing so you would be tearing yourself away from what is a very inspired, yet very gripping and robustly built action title. If you’re at all pleased with what you’ve seen from Hell Is Us, rest assured that it is one of the year’s most compelling AA games, and that the immersion this game builds will enrapture you in all the right ways.

Hell is Us delivers a distinctly unique experience through its approach to story and exploration, which does not guide the player at all and instead relies entirely on their intelligence and creativity to progress through the protagonist's odyssey. Its combat offers complexity, challenge, and enjoyment, enhanced by experimentation with various weapons. Only its suboptimal performance with extensive pop in, texture issues, and frame drops prevents it from reaching greatness.

Highly underrated puzzle game soulslike crossover. Its pretty refreshing having to use your brain for a change in these times dominated by convenience. Sure the ending is a bit abrupt and many story strings remain mostly unresolved but the intense horrifying worldbuilding, the mostly pretty hard but fair puzzles and the truly bevlievable location (for a sci-fi game) edge it to 10 for me.

Hell is Us still stands as a genuine piece of boldness, a gamble that Rogue Factor has mastered from start to finish. A cry of love for those who no longer wish to let their instincts be numbed on the altar of autopilot offered by most action-adventure games, Hell is Us empowers the player without mistreating them. It rekindles the taste for exploration, observation, and deduction, without ever tipping into elitism. Between those games that hold our hand without ever letting go and those that abandon us at the bottom of the pit, Rogue Factor has found a remarkable middle ground—both rewarding and accessible. Supported by a production quality well above the AA average and, above all, by writing that shines just as much when depicting human tragedies in times of war as when exploring the historical subtleties of a fictional country, Hell is Us has far too much merit for its combat limitations to be held against it.

Hell Is Us takes some welcome risks by refusing to resort to handholding in its mechanics, and is made all the more enjoyable for the trust it puts in its players. This brave design choice — alongside an exceptionally crafted and well-realised setting — more than warrants a visit for players looking for an immersive, lovingly crafted adventure through a bleak but compelling world. An enigmatic story and compellingly written characters round out the pros, but disappointingly shallow combat, a lack of enemy variety and an uneven final act ultimately let it down. Regardless, Hell Is Us is a labour of love, and the passion that’s gone into its creation shines through despite its weaknesses.

Hell is us is not for the impatient gamer. It has become my favorite game of the year. I loved exploring every inch of each area to find new things. Trying to remember where the person I needed to go to when i found an item. The amazing feeling when you figured something out. I loved this game from beginning to end. It just might not be for everyone.

I had really god fun playing this game.
It definitely gets carried by the story and setting.
It has some good side missions that tell really heartbreaking stories.
This game really shines if the player is able to immerse themselves into the setting and characters.
My biggest critique for the game is the combat and enemy variety.
Enemy variety barely exists and the combat seems a bit clunky and just too repetitive after a few hours, which is a shame, because otherwise the game could be one of my favorites.
I would still recommend it for people that like a good story and a good Thriller/Horror atmosphere. It took me about 30 hours for the main story and majority of the side missions.

Hell is us est un jeu qui m’a pas mal intrigué des ses premiers trailer et je ressort du jeu en étant satisfait de mon expérience sans pour autant avoir été impressionné. Point positif - l’ambiance de ce jeu est vraiment très bien soigné et prenante (pas mal inspiré de la serie dark sur Netflix en terme d’ambiance) - La DA est elle aussi bien inspirée et nous offre des panoramas vraiment jolie et diversifiée - un lore et un univers vraiment captivant, intriguant et riche.
- en termes de gameplay la force du jeu sont ces énigmes vraiment bien foutu et agréable à résoudre - Hell is us est un jeu vraiment original, qui possède une vraie identité Point négatif - le gros défaut de Hell is us c’est sont système de combat beaucoup trop fade et plat. Les premiers combats sont assez sont assez agréable mais malheureusement le système de combat n’a quasiment aucune évolution du début a la fin et cela a fini par rendre les combats plus proche d’une corvée qu’autre chose et de plus la sensation d’impact de nos coup sont assez moyen.
- le bestiaire est très faible seulement une poignée de mobs différentes sont présente dans le jeu et ils ce ressemblent énormément - la caméra est très mal géré et rend les combats brouillons - la vf est assez moyenne aussi Pour conclure Hell is us est un bon jeu original avec une très bonne ambiance et un système d’énigmes bien foutu mais Hell is us est aussi un jeu qui a le syndrome de vouloir a tout pris intégrer plein de combats très moyen dans leur jeu alors qu’a mon avis le jeu aurait bien été meilleur avec moins, voir pas du tout de combats.

Okay i tried hard to like it playing 3 hours but the gameplay loop is just annoying. I like exploring and finding things on my own plus difficulty but everywhere I go and explore i need to insert something I need from somewhere else all of the freaking time. It's not smooth and awards exploration. It's just annoying at this point, had to put to put it down
