Grim Legends 3: The Dark City
With all of the drastic improvements made to their formula, this was the most enjoyment I had from an Artifex Mundi title yet. They relish in having their own style, puzzles and pretty much go unchallenged in the genre. If more improvements, like the ones included here, continue to advance, I’ll be even more excited for all of their releases. While still a short affair and not too challenging, I had a great relaxing few hours solving puzzles, Rune Battling and saving the world.
All in all, Grim Legends 3: The Dark City stands out from the Artifex Mundi pack thanks to its exciting story of creatures and secret orders, whilst the voice acting has come a long way from the games that precede it.
There are still a few minor issues with the hidden object games that need stamping out and stop the episode from being a must-play, but for fans of the publisher or the casual point and click genre, the episode is well worth spending an evening playing through it.

I enjoyed this game a little less than other games by this developer. It is still fun but a little short and I also wasn't a big fan of the combat element. The story was still pretty good but I really prefer the puzzles and the hidden object elements most.

I really enjoy the games that Artifex Mundi produce and the best thing is that there isn’t a bad one they’ve made yet, which is extremely rare. Thankfully Grim Legends 3: The Dark City is another good addition to Artifex Mundi’s catalogue and it was that enjoyable that it’s probably one of my favourite games that Artifex Mundi have brought out so far. Obviously the most important part **** of this ilk is its story and thankfully the story is great. They managed to keep me interested and immersed throughout my playthrough and in the end I actually connected to the characters in the story. Whilst the main story is brilliant the extra side story was unfortunately a little dissapointing though. Don’t get me wrong it isn’t particularly bad it’s just that I didn’t feel it to be deep enough and I found it to lack in a few areas. Overall though the content is very enjoyable and I was surprised how long the game lasted, so you will find that you get decent value for your money. One of the things that Artifex Mundi prides itself on are there mini-games and I didn’t have any complaints here. Each mini-game has a lot of variety going for it and unlike other game’s they’re actually pretty challenging, but don’t worry though because they never get frustrating and they still carry with them a lot of fun. One aspect of the game I didn’t have fun with though were the little mini-battles that are situated throughout the game. Whilst these battles weren’t really bad in any way I just found them to be a little boring and there was no challenge at all included in the battles which was a little disappointing. I must admit that in previous game’s I did notice a few technichal issues to be evident here and there, but thankfully that doesn’t occur in Grim Legends 3. Instead everything runs smoothly here and the animations have been done to perfection. In fact the whole of the presentation side of the game has been done really well and that definitely made me enjoy the game more. Visually the game can look really beautiful at times and the accompanying sound design is very good especially when it came to the voice acting. The voice acting without a doubt gives the story an extra edge and at the same time it also brings the story alive, which is great. At the end of the day if you liked the previous instalments in this series then you will also love this addition to the series. For me Grim Legends 3: The Dark City is the best of the series and in some ways it draws you in more than the previous games and for that reason it gets a very big recommendation from me.

Grim Legends 3: The Dark City is a fitting end to the trilogy. The gorgeous artwork and varying puzzles remain engaging throughout, upheld by a decent story that helps to maintain player immersion. Sadly, issues with poor voice acting and its lack of a steady difficulty curve pulls this down from greatness. Though, even with that in mind, this adventure is well worth a visit.
