I absolutely love this game to death, besides its slightly frequent glitches. I’ve played for almost 200 hours and man the ambience, open world, and robots are just so dope. Building a base is fun and fighting the reaper doesn’t get old. This game can be hilarious and fun with friends so make sure you also play multiplayer :)

I absolutely love this game. I have over 200 hours in it, and it really is special to me. However, the developers have added more and more content while at the same time introducing just as many bugs, then simply decided they were finished and left the game in a broken state six years after release. It is such a shame because, except for that, it really is a special game. If you can tolerate some annoying bugs, the game is really worth playing. They nail the feeling of small Swedish towns and the countryside. That, combined with the robot aesthetic, solid world-building, and atmosphere, just makes this game a joy to play—when it works as intended.

Fantastic opening cutscene, and then immediately goes downhill. Map is too large, so you're just running for a long time for very little payoff.

Unfortunately, I have to say that this game is far from being a perfectly developed shooter. Too long development time with too few real positive results. Some game mechanics where intergrated but never get fully sophisticated. So to much time I was standing with a big "how to" question mark above the head. Many negatives so. But from my point of view as a big singleplayer shooter fan, even 2025, the special atmosphere and gameplay - albeit very classic - or precisely BECAUSE it's very classic, makes up for it. Simply said, i loved playing this game, whether on the first playthrough right after release or the second, after development was completed as the Devs told. It's a bit a shame that it took so long for a halfway complete game to emerge. Anyway 8/10 for a very nice and special fp shooter experience.

At first it seemed like a really nice experience. Movement, shooting, looting and graphics are all really nicely done. So the first hour maybe two were really good. But when you saw the first location and first village you almost seen everything. Recycling of assets in this game is unacceptable. World is big but boring, nothing to do except useless fighting. Game had a potential but unfortunately that's just not enough.

If the story wouldn't have sort of crapped out midway and turned into lore dumps by virtue of notes and terminals and such, it would have been much better - but the idea is very intriguing, the gameplay is quite fun, and there are interesting mechanics. Not perfect, but damn good fun.

Big robots wandering around IKEA-land? What’s not to love about this? Sure, the voice acting is a bit off, the gameplay gets a little repetitive after a while and the max number of players in one lobby is limited to four, but I really only had great memories with the game. I’d definitely recommend it.

I found thi8s game by accident on GamePass and am very happy I did. I love the 80s/retro feel as well as the attention to detail with both the intricacies of the robots and the sound effects/atmosphere.

This game went totally under the radar for mw until it came out on game pass. Saw the combination of open world and robot take over and thought worth a try. Took me by surprise Is an understatement. Totally got blown away. Its awesome. Killer 80s vibes a little like stranger things, basic but cool character creation and modification in game when you find clothes etc. Graphics are great as is the game play. The sounds including gunfire and the enemies are so immersive. Multilayer is brill too

Have you ever wanted to play a game that told a story through only in game text documents? Me neither. Every mission is along the lines of "Run 500m here, kill 3 robots along the way, get the same terrible rifle you've gotten for the past 4 missions as a reward. Poorly optimized and an atrocious asking price. My only compliment is the robot designs. They're kinda neat.

Superb experience that uses the stealth / action genre to it's best abilities. Launch was a little rough but the dev really massaged it over the past few years making it one of the best in the genre.

Generation Zero is an absolute masterpiece ****! From the stunningly detailed open world to the exhilarating combat mechanics, it's a gaming experience that's truly unparalleled. The Scandinavian landscape is beautifully recreated, making exploration a joy in itself. The game's unique premise of battling hostile machines in a post-apocalyptic 1980s Sweden is refreshingly inventive. What truly sets Generation Zero apart is its cooperative gameplay – teaming up with friends to outsmart and outgun these mechanical foes is incredibly satisfying. The strategic depth in planning and executing attacks keeps you on the edge of your seat, and the sense of accomplishment when you triumph over your metallic adversaries is unbeatable. The attention to detail in the game world is astounding, from the eerily abandoned houses to the intricate machine designs. The sound design immerses you in the tension-filled atmosphere, enhancing the overall experience. With frequent updates and an engaged developer community, Generation Zero continuously evolves, ensuring that you'll never run out of challenges. Whether you're a solo player or enjoy co-op action, this game offers endless thrills, making it a must-have for any gaming enthusiast. Generation Zero is a true gem in the gaming world, setting a new standard for open-world shooters!

The game lacks content. Yes, it features a huge, beautiful map, but it is filled with 3 types of houses, and 5 types of robots, randomly scattered around the interest points. So, you end up walking to the next point, killing the exact same robot 10 times, running up the same stairs and opening the same box. Afterwards, you return to your base, and craft... ammo. Tons of ammo. It takes a crazy amount of ammo to down an enemy, and they just keep getting chonkier. I'm talking 2k bullets, or 30 rockets. The game is clearly not ment to be played alone. At one point, I arrived to the new location, and there were like 50 enemies. And I knew I would need like 400 rockets and an hour of clicking left mouse button to get rid of them. This is where I quit. The game does have some strenghts, for example good visuals, nice sound effects, a lot of cosmetics that can be crafted freely, nice gunplay and weapon modification system. But the gameplay feels extremely repetitive, and not rewarding at all. And, while I did have some fun in first 3 hours, the game offered nothing new and got boring pretty fast. While it could be a good hunting sim, it takes way more to make an FPS.

A good example of "good enough". Nothing in this package stands out as being awesome or innovative, but it is a complete and functioning package that is good enough. I'd say the story is quite forgettable, but the gameplay is decent though the gunplay may be a bit simple. Spending 40+ hours to complete the base game main quest and most side quests, for the quality that it provides, I found it to be a bit too long. I'd say it would be a bit boring solo, and would recommend playing this with a friend.

Отличный пример того, как легко просрать потрясающую задумку. Реализация идеи днище, игру буду просто решили не доделывать, но не в плане техническом, а в плане насыщенности самого тайтла.

Pros - Gameplay - Graphics/Artstyle - Concept Cons: - Bullet sponge - AI - Loot - Repetitive Verdict: It has potential to be a great game, but with all the tedious mechanics and bullet sponge enemies with crap loot, making the game exhausting and boring for a time. My friends can't keep on playing this game.

Okay, so I played this game because a couple of my friends wanted me to download it so we could all play together. They decided not to get it, so I played alone. I think this game could really be fun with a group but alone I didn't have fun. It's on game pass so it's worth trying out for sure. You might really like it but it just wasn't there for me on my single play. Mechanics and graphics are there, besides many small quality of life features. It has the makings of a fun game. I just couldn't get into it after the few hours I put in. I decided not to see this one through and totally take it out of my back log too. Even if they do decide to download it, I'm not sure if I'll be able to get back into it. It's the definition of fine.

This game is huge and insanely empty. The map designer done its job for sure. Big and probably accurate places. DO NOT EXPECT any story, ANY NPC at all. This game is ridiculously NOT about that. It is insane that they could done this in 2019; releasing a game without actual story-line. The objects, consumables are dull, the graphic besides the map is ugly, dull, low-grade. You don't have too much weapons at all. I played this alone (nobody wanted to play this game with me) so I am not sure if more player brings more enemy, but the enemies are definitely NOT ENOUGH for even a single player. It just makes the game even more empty. I don't know about this engine, but definitely has something to do with the half-life / F.E.A.R. engine. Similar colors and the spider-like mini-robot is entirely the same as the face-attacker in half-life. The AI feels also very similar, and here is the good part: the action, the fights in the game are extremely good. The AI is unbelievably good (in most cases). It gives real fight feeling into the game. It is painfully missing from other games. The designer of the enemies has done an awesome job, the robots looks evil and complex, the damage system hits the nail, the usage of weapons are actually good. This is that awesome that you eventually forgive the lack of everything else. The rpg elements are also not bad, but just when your character leveled to be a real match to the machines, the game ends (of course, it never ends technically). So in summary: a very unique fighting fps experience, beautiful map, and seriously, nothing else.

Sadly, this 3 years old game is in an "Early Access" state, even thought it is sold as a traditional game. It's a really interesting, addictive and entertaining game, but it's plagued with weird design choices; mostly about the User Interface and the core gameplay mechanics' User Experience (UX). Reviewing such game is difficult because you can't do it without talking about previous versions of the game. Oh! And I forgot to talk about the bugs; they are annoying! I'll go back and change my rating once the game is done. ***More useful info*** Yes, the world is big and a bit empty, but I think that's the point: it's a sandbox game. Also, the graphics and the sound design are awesome, even with my GTX 970. I don't know what people are talking about. Maybe they just need to disable "dynamic resolution".

Devs should fix their game instead of joining political flashmob. Closing purchases of your products for people of Belarus and Russia is antidemocratic and should be punished.

Graphics look out of the arc and it doesn't run well for what it is rendering. I got bored early on shooting dog bot after dog bot. Survival and stealth mechanics formulaic. Visually, narratively, gameplay wise nothing stands out. I'ts all kind of meh.

Nice graphic style, but absolutely stupid AI that could see and shoot you through the walls. In coop you could connect to the other player that has opened all spots on map and use fast travel to find new areas. Spawn spots and mechanic are broken. Not worth it. At least now.

Really enjoying this game now. I tried it a while back before the added content, and it felt empty and I didn't like the combat. Now I love it. The map is huge, the atmosphere is spot on, and I really enjoy the combat. When I kill the bigger machines, it is very satisfying. The world doesn't feel as empty, so I actually enjoy running (or riding a bike) to spots on the map to explore. I wish the reviewers from 2019 would come back and give it another go, like I did. Definitely worth it.

What i love about that game, is what many others don't **** people (SPC) in this game or not many, you are just running around in this beautiful swedish landscape and i feel almost like home! The eerieness when you walk at night and see the empty police cars with the flashing blue and red lights just gives me shivers. I guess, 3 years after it's initial release, it has solved almost all the issues people had, when they first played this game. Now with the free Landfall Update it's getting almost to crowded, with the additional "party" inhabiting this island, but still fun to play. People who like to travel and explore and are not that storydriven, will love this game, it's so much fun!

If you like stealth, this is the best stealth game there is. The game is balanced for coop play, so when you play solo, you are facing a significant challenge. That means lots of sneaking around prone in the first half of the game just to find half way decent weapons, gear and ammo. Run and gun will only work for super skilled elite players. Time passes at the same rate as real time, but game days are about 4 hours, so there is lots of night time play. Just walking in the woods in this game is like taking a real hike and very refreshing, from the crunch of leaves under foot to the wind in the trees. Pros: * Gorgeous outdoor enviroments, lighting and weather effects * the best environmental sounds ever in a game * equisite robot designs and animations * excellent random distribution of robots * smart ai with little cheating * glorious explosions Cons: * very repetitive play cycle in 1st half of game - forage for ammo for 1 hour, hunt robots for an hour, repeat. * feels unfinished - lots of bugs - visual oddities, getting stuck in cargo containers * inventory issues - limited storage or ways to recycle loot * grindy endgame of hunting Bosses for Experimental weapons * fort wave denfense mode is clunky and repetitive

What really breathes on you is the atmosphere of northern Europe. Picturesque, beautiful, cruel. But after 5 hours of playing, I stopped enjoying it. Seriously. Over and over again, the same thing. Moving on a gigantic map tedious. The animation of the movement on the bike is tragic, better not to talk about the movement itself. Pistol unusable, the shotgun went, if one was lucky and a sufficient number of first aid kits. The submachine gun worked best for me, when I was able to deal with 7-10 basic enemies on my own. Otherwise, the most used was a hunting rifle. But what about the game itself? The story may seem interesting, but after a walk through a few cities and the military bases are getting bored. The same thing over and over again. And that's the problem with the whole game. It is boring, its enemies are boring and stupid. It's a pity, the game had the potential, but to constantly find unusable waste, go through every barracks where there is nothing, loot cars and shoot running robots. That's the whole game.

An empty world without any NPC’s to interact with. Quests that are without rewards or even has any point. The only way to understand the story is to listen to recordings (made by sub par voice actors) or read notes while you rummage through houses that are copy and paste versions of a very limited amount of buildings. Underpowered weapons, few bullets and tons of robots to kill you over and over… Better play Horizon Zero Dawn instead.

The guys do not understand where is a "hardcore" game and where is **** interface" game. I was already suspicios to the game watching it poor rating when I start it. So in abandoned house and car I've got a gun, medicits and two tipes of ammo, one with 8 bullets and one with 126. I've got a mission market on home and task to find and eliminate an enemy. I couldn't find an enemy for few minutes, so I figured out in youtube that I should move on a road despite marker. Allright, here first small robot, I shoot, it shoots, ammo is out, I try reload but no, no way. I run away and try to inspect interface how to reload ammo, but it's very unclear. Also I managed tu equip and use one of three medicits. Meanwhile combat can not be stopped no way, so robot pursues my character and kill him. Ok, respawn and spent time figuring out how to equip the only remaining type of ammo.. I meet a robot, fight it and ups medicits didn't respawn. The **** thought that because I died because of their **** interface I should searching stupid houses and cars again? No, I'll delete your staff and post a corresponding review on their staff.

With the new march 2020 update this game is an absolute thrill. Fights are so intense and enemies are hard. Ammo is scarce so you cant just go all Doom on their asses. Stealth, well laid plans for a good fight, thorough search for resources and intelligent use of surroundings are crucial. I was so positively surprised by this game. The abandoned world does not feel empty, as many have said, but intensely atmospheric and scary. I really enjoy this game.

This game is one of the most underrated of the year. Very few people seem to have heard about it and those that did seem to have just reviewed it and forgot about it. The developers have worked very hard on releasing many fixes and gameplay updates in their monthly updates and are also very active and communicative with their community. There is still much room for improvement and additions but it is still a great game and I would recommend it.

DIGNITIES: it is a pity that the short) game went, it would not be bad to add a workshop mods, the game would be livelier DISADVANTAGES: Cons the World is striking in size, and sometimes emptiness. When you run on an empty field, creeps the feeling that the gameplay is artificially stretched. I learned about the new product from Avalanche. From the very beginning I realized that this is a simple, almost budget project, but cool. The exit was waiting. The game came out, collected its average scores and went a bit past me. Although I love such here is AA-releases. And now I managed to play on a free weekend, even with a friend. It was a fun experience. Graphics in place, optimization too. As least launch on ultras was able even I, with my something a bucket. Apex Engine is cool. Mountain landscapes, forests, rivers are very beautiful. It should have been called "Sweden Engine", and this game is promoted as a technodemku engine. The world is striking in size, and sometimes emptiness. When you run on an empty field, creeps the feeling that the gameplay is artificially stretched. And when on the same field you run for / from robots, everything falls into place. Wide locations promote and defections, and ambushes, and sniper shooting and all that. All this in the game is, implemented normally. Small guns first, then catches the gun, then it is a problem to find ammo, then go to bigger guns, and then one finds a RPG and does not want to share. That's greedy PI... roegnik. Take care of the shells to RPG, by the way. Loot in the game fun. On the initial location of lot lot, then it sharply enough, and to find the good stuff, will have to run in invisible places and side quests. Then the meat starts, the enemies die in packs, spent a clip, found two, johnny shot through the legs, someone, resnite, I ran out of adrenaline. The enemies are also different: in the beginning you need to fight in robotami, then they become more and the situation hotter. Then there are ticks, then hunters, all sorts of walking dudes, and a few bosses still. And if the alarm is raised-you can shoot with enemies for a long time. Really a long time. Even at the level that we got for their 5-10 hours in the game, you can specifically get stuck. Perhaps, because near was boss, but were shooting we with them half an hour of exercise, all patrons squandered, almost all killed, and then boss simply is gone( What an atmosphere. She's cool. There are a lot of sounds, some invisible animation effects. You get into the game and you don't want to go out. And then I with friend in another settlement killed all enemies, went through field, killed there all enemies, rightly move on a new island (when open map, to watch on its progress, don, that you, of course, cleaned up 2 Islands, but in scale the entire maps this at all nothing. And here we go to the next location, again we see the Church, and then we hear a loud tramp. Slow. I pull out my binoculars and see a giant in the distance. That. From the cover. It's slow, it's heavy, and it's really huge. Spoiler: he's dangerous. We have already got some skills by the time guns heavy score, but mentally was not ready for such a meeting. We decided to attack. Health he well up the wazoo, fired from different angles, beitili, chakali, how much HP, avoided him, hiding in the shelter. He once hit-raises all the Windows. The second time will hit - maybe to knock him down. It is slow, even a little predictable, but it is a real giant robot, exactly as it can be imagined. The battle with him is a test of speed, accuracy and agility. And victory is victory. Best prize. Deserved award. And also in the game there is some pumping, and we found a couple of bugs, in General, nothing critical, everything is solvable. In General, if if excess money and although would 1 each-recommend

Despite the beautiful setting, the awesome graphics, and the fantastic concept, generation zero fails completely in gameplay. This game is frustrating, unbalanced, unplayable, sometimes in some parts of the game you'll die tons of times for the lack of bullets,or cause the enemies are very tough. Generation zero is the perfect example how to destroy a very good game with an awful gameplay.gameplay

My friend recommend the game to me and for once I decided to take him for his word and buy the game. In Generation Zero, I found the combat to have solid depth with the added tactical elements no fight ever feel repetitive. There is a vast and beautiful open world to explore with a great deal of variation in the landscape. Great game in my opinion.

Great game. The only thing wrong with it was that they released it way too early. I haven't encountered any bugs because most of them have been fixed, and this game is by far NOT empty. In fact, i'd say BOTW is more empty than this. It's overall a great game, that's best played with friends, but it's still fine single player (which is what i'm playing).

This is not a bad game, not at all. It's a GREAT game with some glitches and bugs (the devs are amazingly listening to the community and doing their best to solve ALL the problems, btw) but still very enjoyable. Atmosphere, story, battles/explosions and that awesome swedish landscape are the best part of the game. Really, give this game a chance, you won't regret it. I'm sorry for all the people spreading hate for this game because it came out with some broken mission and unpolished stuff but it's not fair to keep being so angry at this small studio just because the game is not perfect. They're working hard to develop the game further and polish everything, give the guys some support and have faith or it will just become a forgotten jem for the future.
