Three hours in, and Generation Zero is running on fumes. It will take you 30 hours to get to the end of this story, but what's the point? This game is just as dead as everyone in the alt-dimensional Sweden.

Generation Zero was designed with co-op in mind, but it lacks basic quality of life features, like dedicated servers, ignore list for matchmaking and even something as vital as integrated voice chat. [Issue#237, p.50]
An interesting take on the post-apocalyptic genre, full of beautiful vistas and a streamlined interface, but moments of awe are punctuated with run-ins with the buggy and inconsistent AI.

I absolutely love this game. I have over 200 hours in it, and it really is special to me. However, the developers have added more and more content while at the same time introducing just as many bugs, then simply decided they were finished and left the game in a broken state six years after release. It is such a shame because, except for that, it really is a special game. If you can tolerate some annoying bugs, the game is really worth playing. They nail the feeling of small Swedish towns and the countryside. That, combined with the robot aesthetic, solid world-building, and atmosphere, just makes this game a joy to play—when it works as intended.

Fantastic opening cutscene, and then immediately goes downhill. Map is too large, so you're just running for a long time for very little payoff.

Unfortunately, I have to say that this game is far from being a perfectly developed shooter. Too long development time with too few real positive results. Some game mechanics where intergrated but never get fully sophisticated. So to much time I was standing with a big "how to" question mark above the head. Many negatives so. But from my point of view as a big singleplayer shooter fan, even 2025, the special atmosphere and gameplay - albeit very classic - or precisely BECAUSE it's very classic, makes up for it. Simply said, i loved playing this game, whether on the first playthrough right after release or the second, after development was completed as the Devs told. It's a bit a shame that it took so long for a halfway complete game to emerge. Anyway 8/10 for a very nice and special fp shooter experience.

Generation Zero could probably be best described as an unpolished gem. If a second part is going to be made (and I sincerely hope that’s happening), I’m sure that it’s going to be much better and better focused. Until then, if you're playing Generation Zero in a single player or with other people, you’re in for a treat. You’re going to experience something unique, and that in itself is valuable.

This is a coop shooter with a great setting and good ideas, but the worlds feels empty, the progression isn’t very appealing and ends up feeling repetitive.

Superb experience that uses the stealth / action genre to it's best abilities. Launch was a little rough but the dev really massaged it over the past few years making it one of the best in the genre.

Generation Zero is based on an interesting concept, but its empty open world leads to an overall boring experience.

Generation Zero comes with an intriguing setting and a huge map that's way too big to explore on foot. There are different types of enemies to fight, but the AI is very basic and the game suffers from many glitches.

Generation Zero is a buggy and poorly designed open-world co-op shooter that tragically squanders its distinctive setting.

Generation Zero is a beautiful, broken, and boring jog through 1980s Sweden with a side of stealth and robots.

At first it seemed like a really nice experience. Movement, shooting, looting and graphics are all really nicely done. So the first hour maybe two were really good. But when you saw the first location and first village you almost seen everything. Recycling of assets in this game is unacceptable. World is big but boring, nothing to do except useless fighting. Game had a potential but unfortunately that's just not enough.

Graphics look out of the arc and it doesn't run well for what it is rendering. I got bored early on shooting dog bot after dog bot. Survival and stealth mechanics formulaic. Visually, narratively, gameplay wise nothing stands out. I'ts all kind of meh.
