There's a lot to like about Fishing Star World Tour. It's a lightweight, highly accessible, and charming little arcade-like take on fishing, and while it's never going to top anyone's list of favourite games, it's the kind of mindlessly relaxing thing that's useful to have on the console for those times where you really do just want to chill.

In an industry that at the moment finds itself focused on Battle Royale, shooters and generally anything with big budgets and plenty of action, Fishing Star World Tour is a wonderfully refreshing change of pace. With its picturesque visuals and chilled out gameplay, my time spent fishing in Wright Flyer Studios’ colorful little world was a relaxing and surprisingly fun one. Who knew fishing could be this entertaining?

All in all, Fishing Star: World Tour was a surprisingly fun little game. While I do think that the progression and localization could use some work, the actual title here leaves me pleased overall.

Having way much more fun with this than I thought I would. Got it on impulse because I like games where you collect things and am getting impatient waiting for Pokémon snap. It’s quite simple to learn even though the localisation into English is hilarious (the word GET flashes up on screen when you catch a fish?!), the process of catching a fish is fun (kind of a battle system) and the scenery and fish look good. You basically have to collect all the fish, about 180, across a bunch of different areas to fill up your fish book (basically a fish Pokédex). It’s fairly simple but some fish are trickier to catch and require specific lures and rods. You have to reel them in so the line doesn’t go too slack or too tight whilst keeping an eye on how the fish is behaving. More points for heavier fish. It’s very Nintendo and probably a bit simple for serious fishing enthusiasts, but perfect for a relaxing and occasionally challenging collectathon. Never thought I’d like a fishing game but this is fun.

this game is Great. it's really fun trying to catch all the fish and the graphics are also perfect. it's cartoony yet realistic look is really charming. My only complaint is that the boot and seaweed are really annoying to deal with.
