Final Fantasy XVI is an excellent game in every way. If you're a fan of the series for the stories and characters, you won't go wrong here, and if you've avoided the series for, say, turn-based combat, the sixteenth installment offers the perfect opportunity to get started with this legend of the gaming industry. Final Fantasy XVI is a fantastic adventure, but slightly irregular. There are some aspects that prevent it from being on the podium with the best entries in the franchise, but, when it is over, it leaves a great aftertaste that makes you forget about those imperfections.

Final Fantasy XVI delivers on the “action” side of its action-RPG formula. A fierce and fast-paced combat system makes for the series’ most exciting stab at real-time swordplay yet, while its blockbuster Eikon fights rank among some of gaming’s most awe-inspiring battles. But there’s a general flatness surrounding those exhilarating highs, as shallow RPG hooks and dated design leave a promising evolution for the series stuck in the past.

I liked it, unlike other games cough cough yakuza the combat is great and the story has some depth and it made me rethink about my entire life up to the point of finishing the game

1. I liked FF because it was an RPG with no overbearing action in its gameplay but times are changing so I try to judge it accordingly. 2. Graphics look really good but also rather dreary in towns and some of the dungeons for at least ½ to 2/3 of the game but I can't blame it if my aging eyes have issues following the action so I can't really enjoy moving around the camera to look at the landscape. 3. That said, let's continue with the combat. It took me an eternity and a half to get used to the R1 dodging. The battle-system is still alright and it's nice that you have so many ways to combine different Eikon powers to fit you play-style. It is held back by how stingy the distribution of ability points is compared to the abilities available and also how much you have to progress through the game to even unlock these new Eikonic abilities. So you might need a lot of resetting to get your set together or even more grinding. Even though after about halfway through the game you get access to an accessory to increase ability point gain from battles a little, it's rather small and I still didn't want to keep on resetting skills until I found my thing so I stuck to what I was somewhat comfortable with. 4. Speaking of Eikons and Eikon powers, while the Eikon fights are quiet cinematic, they feel a little too long and dragged out because you have so few options to fight and the opponents have such a vast health pool (feels like FF 12 Yiazmat fight all over again). The worst however is probably Titan. You could make a case of it making sense being Earth element and all but 3 painfully long phases till you beat him was way overboard. 5. I like to have a mini-map for orientation. I get it's for immersion but in this case, just make it toggle-able. 6. Crafting is almost pointless since you only have one character you can equip and you don't even get secondary effects like paralyzing or poisoning or resistance to those things so just leave out the collection of crafting materials and let me only pay money to get them (instead of money and materials). Money is scarce enough as is, if you want to buy all the music pieces and you also don't get that much to stay upgraded if you choose to ignore sidequests or most fights. 7. It's a pretty and alright game but the action is something I personally don't enjoy as much and would have preferred it to be tuned down. It would as have been added to the game to be a bit more generous with ability point hand out and money drops.

WORST and my less favourite FF, like 2-3 memorable moments but the rest is awful Combat is a bad combo of DMC and Rpg, and pls Sqaure STOP doing this to the turn based combat, people hate the series now for a reason Exploration and side quest are a disaster.

Far too repetitive gameplay, stretched out as much as possible. After 20 hours I’d basically lost interest, and now I’m at 39 hours and still haven’t finished the story.
