With a major improved control scheme, the introduction of Hardcore Mode, beautifully detailed environments and national landmarks, Fallout: New Vegas is the real Entertainment Capital of the World.
Creatively, New Vegas gets almost everything right. Mechanically and technically, it's a tragedy. So, it's a simultaneously rewarding and frustrating game, the gulf between what it is and what it could be a sizeable stretch indeed.
This is my favorite first person shooter, even beating Halo 3. This game is the closest thing to person rpg, the perks, weapons, builds, mechanics, world and all it's locations is the bestI ever experienced in this genre. I am not a fan of the step they took towards Fallout 4, adding simple dialogue and voice acting while also taking away the karma system. Fallout New Vegas is peak for it's genre.
this game is absolutely **** but it has a ton of guns and very unique enemies. its the fallout game that doesnt feel like a fallout game for some reason.
Graphics/performance 3/10 - It's an older game so obviously the graphics aren't as good as modern games. My main issue was the performance. The game crashes ever 10min on PC. Had to redo entire story sections because the auto-saves ****. Also tons of texture pop in when traversing the open world. Gameplay 3/10 - Gun play feels awful. The sensitivity for being scoped in is the same as when yore not, making aiming on controller without VATS impossible. At the same time, VATS doesn't work father than 3ft. The weapon sway is also insane. There's also no sprinting for some reason. Also going in and out of casinos would clear my quick menu for guns, so I ended up just not using it at all. Also most the gameplay is just walking through a dessert. Without the radio I woulda lost my mind. Story 5/10 - The story is overrated. You are a delivery guy who had his package stolen and are trying to get it back. Halfway through the main quest, you confront the guy who stole the package and get it back. After that the story nosedives, as the main goal becomes unclear and the game just turns into helping random NPC's do their chores. If the gunplay was actually fun and my game wasn't crashing every 10min, I might have actually wanted to do more side quests. People say the side quests are where most the good stuff is but I could not be asked. Also, literally half the NPC's are voiced by the same 1 guy, Yuri Lowenthal, the guy who does Sasuke Uchiha and Spiderman. Every time I would hear his voice, my emersion would be ruined. The fact this game was made in 16 months shows, they needed more voice actors. Overall this was my least favorite of the Fallout games. The performance issues and clunky gameplay make it hard for me to recommend. Only people I could see enjoying this are people who want a game where you spend 100+ hours going through dialog with random NPC's.
SummaryThe latest game in the post-nuclear RPG series is being developed by many members of the Fallout 1 and 2 team at Obsidian Entertainment using the Fallout 3 engine.
