Dragon Quest VII Reimagined is a massive and charming JRPG with a heartfelt story, classic turn-based gameplay and polished visuals and music. While some pacing and repetition issues remain, it’s a rewarding adventure for both longtime fans and newcomers.

The reimagined version offers a brand-new experience by providing a fresh, more modern perspective on the classic DQ7 rather than trying to replace it, and it positions itself among the series’ successful entries. I just wish the overly easy difficulty had been tuned a bit higher and the missing content had been included as well.

It’s not perfect, and in a perfect world, we’d still have things like Haven, Monster Meadows, and the Casino. But Dragon Quest VII Reimagined receives high marks for being incredibly accessible and stunning to boot. The new combat system, quality-of-life features, and accessibility go a long way. I had a blast playing Dragon Quest VII Reimagined.

It’s a pleasant game and I enjoyed my time with it, but I feel like the ending came to soon. I was playing on hard mode and before the last boss I didn’t even have my best vocations leveled up because of decreased EXP. The game was building up for a big moment which didn’t quite happen. After finishing it I feel not that good. I wanted more, and the postgame is just „level up” experience which I’m not here for.
Later I found out about cut content (islands and outfits depending on your vocation) which sadden me quite a lot. The game has outfit system but the only outfits there are are dlc

An absolute insult to the intelligence of players, even on hard mode, even without using the overpowered autobattle, the game just does not allow any type of challenge, the ""quality of life"" is so exagerated that you do not have to make any strategy or decisions, the game will play itself.
Also the story is pretty boring but that is not the fault of the remake.

This is definitely the better version of DQ7 all you have to do is shut the notifications and quest markers off. Wow this game was quite a ride! I felt something for every character there backstories were wonderful. The music was great the cutscenes didn’t take away from anything . This and the DQ 3 remake are the only remakes I’ve enjoyed in a while did not enjoy dq 1 and 2 remake the open world adventure was turned into a linear mess and that’s not why I play dragon quest

Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined delivers an exceptional game, one which excels in its storytelling and personable cast. While it wasn't my favourite game in the series before the remake, it has quickly jumped into the top three. There are so many small details that make this version the one you have to play, from the reworked script and revised score to the incredible cast guiding us across a world's fragmented past. By piecing together the threat of this world one island at a time, you learn more about the inhabitants and how each contrast to the others meaningfully. Combine that with a shift from round-based battles to turn-based, and the control you're given to make the right choices warrants the profound changes this game has undergone.

A more compact and aesthetically pleasing Dragon Quest VII. The redundant narrative elements of the original have been appropriately trimmed, and although the plot remains quite conventional and in some instances rather "cheesy," the protagonists remain among the best in the series. The additions made to character progression and customization are effective, as are those to the combat system, which, while remaining very classic, is now faster and more immediate. The ability to adjust the difficulty at will is excellent, but the game still needs some post-launch balancing adjustments.

Dragon Quest VII Reimagined breathes new life into a historic title, even if the original product wasn’t exactly unmissable. The operation carried out by Square Enix is truly solid and showcases the Japanese company’s expertise, which by now has become more than well-established in this field. The three-dimensional graphics blend perfectly with the isometric perspective and the design of the original game, where Akira Toriyama’s artwork never disappoints. While the technical execution is impeccable, the fact remains that Dragon Quest VII Reimagined carries over the structural limitations of a gameplay formula that now feels outdated. The new features introduced to streamline it, though welcome, don’t quite perform the miracle of making it feel modern. The story is enjoyable to follow (despite additions and cuts), the cast is somewhat limited but sufficiently characterized, and the music is of high quality, as is the Italian text localization. There are certainly other Square Enix titles waiting to be brought back, but Dragon Quest VII Reimagined still manages to be appreciated—especially by those who don’t mind extremely traditional gameplay.

Reimagined is overall a good game. However, it certainly doesn’t feel like a game created for those who grew up with Dragon Quest. This is because we’ve grown, and Dragon Quest 7’s gameplay is still, in its own way, very much stuck in the past. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, as now, this is a game I would love my kids to play, so they can fall in love with Dragon Quest and JRPGs in general.

Dragon Quest VII Reimagined attempts to modernize one of the franchise’s most popular entries by revamping its visuals, refining its systems, and preserving the essence of the original, but ultimately runs into serious pacing and structural issues. The initial journey presents an interesting premise, with time travel to the past to restore islands and resolve conflicts, yet the game repeats this formula for dozens of hours, with little real progression of the main story and almost nonexistent development of both the characters and the villain.

Mon tout premier dragon quest, mais j'adore sur tous les points de vue, ça me donne envie de faire d'autres jeux de la licence, tellement cet épisode me prend au coeur.

It definitely has this strange charm that triggers nostalgia — almost like playing a game from 25 years ago exactly as it was. There’s something oddly comforting about **** I’m not sure it actually delivers fun that feels modern. The combat is too repetitive, the characters lack charisma, and despite my expectations, it ended up feeling far more ordinary than I hoped. Honestly, it comes across like a mass-produced mobile game rather than a standout title.

I'm one of those rare people that's played and enjoyed the original, flaws and all... so thanks, but no thanks. Cut content, over simplified mechanics, soft hand-holding. No shade square, just not for me.

Dragon Quest games have always been big adventures. Not DQVII Reimagined. Everything is on the simple side: maps are too small, exploration is worthless, combat is too easy, nothing to do apart from the main story.
