Remake of the seventh part from cult series is excellent from both the technological and gaming point of view even that all issues related to the age of game couldn’t be removed. Yet it is a beautiful adventure for dozens of hours.

The best kind of remake – it show the game the way you remember it, not the way it really was. [12/2016, p.76]

One of the most beloved RPGs of all time receives a new skin and elements. Although we can find some things a little bit old DQ still is a really nice rpg which is now portable.

The sense of exploration in this game is beyond the charts! Now looking back, it feels like One Piece in a sense. You free each island from their dooms in their past and see what they have become in present. Marvelous game design and story.

This game has fractured me into several fragments from all the time I wasted on this.. but otherwise average.

If you seek classic Japanese RPG in its most traditional way, you'll be fully satisfied with this superb Dragon Quest VII remake. An incredibly long adventure, lots of secrets, charismatic characters and a good variety of vocational classes.

Dragon Quest VII is a JRPG masterpiece. If you played the PlayStation version back in the day, this is as perfect a remake as you could ask for, with beautiful 3D graphics, a smartly streamlined opening, and lots of welcome quality-of-life updates. And if this is your first time in Estard, you're in for a wonderful surprise — great writing, a fun class system, lovely animations and a stellar soundtrack make for a fully engrossing adventure throughout. It's a massive game, but don't let that scare you off; with short story-style pacing and a huge variety of settings, speech patterns, and scenarios, it feels less like an epic tome and more like a shelfful of storybooks stuffed into a 3DS cart. This is an absolute pleasure, and a must-play for RPG fans.

This was my first Dragon Quest so I wouldn't know how it compares to other dragon quest games, but I've played hundreds of RPG games before, and completed every final fantasy game there is, which is my favorite RPG saga. Well, getting to the point, this was a completely different experience from other rpgs i've played, and loved it, it has a special charm that I cant quite explain with words, but know this. This is an RPG adventure you shouldn't miss, even if you're not an rpg gamer.

I played the uglier original on the Sony PlayStation. At its core, the game was great, but the severe lack of polish got in the way, and probably by the time I got 30 hours in, I was bored and quit playing. I've been itching to replay the game, and was really pleased to find out it got a fresh coat of paint. The remake really did make some substantial improvements. DQVII feels a lot more like DQVIII in both look and gameplay style. It feels like they streamlined the game a bit, so the progression doesn't feel nearly as slow as the original. The dialog has also been greatly improved. I must say... this is a very worthy game, and I highly recommend it for anyone who is a fan of old-school console RPGs.

Time travelling is not impossible. Dragon Quest VII shows the past that many of us never had, and it's both nostalgic and satisfying. A must for J-RPG fans.

As far as remakes go, Square Enix shows time and time again how to do it right, and Dragon Quest VII for 3DS might be their best DQ revamp yet—a massive adventure packed with stories and characters, traveling across time and magical realms to plunge through volcanoes, caves, and underground lairs.

Dragon Quest 7 is a sixteen-year-old game, and you can feel it every time you play it. Those who love the J-RPG genre will find a beautiful adventure, that will hold them more than a hundred of hours, with an addictive job system. The others will probably find it too long, too slow, too cute. Too old, to make it short.

It feels unfair to call Dragon Quest VII a bad game, as it was fine in the year 2000. However, in 2016 we are not okay with a game that does not innovate enough. It just feels old, instead of retro.

Yet another famous PS1 exclusive makes it's way to a Nintendo console, tail between it's legs, and is finally ready to be played by real gamers. There are far more improvements to this title than superior hardware, however. The story, although still incredibly tedious, has been improved to the point that won't make you fall asleep after the first hour.

As a fan of this series I was stoked to see that one of the few games in the series I have not played was getting a remake for the 3ds. When I first got it I was right at home, it was that same dragon quest feel that I knew and loved. I noticed that the game took longer to get going but it was still fun. And this fun keep going. But by the 4th or 5th island I began to notice something. I am doing to exact same thing every single time. Every single island plays out the exact same way, and whenever you beat it you go back and visit it in the present and do the exact same thing you did in the last one. It just goes on and on and is so repetitive that I couldn't play it anymore. I'm sorry I wanted to like this game but just couldn't because of how bored I got. If you are looking into getting into the series just play DQ8. That game is fantastic and also received a 3ds remake.

I liked the game but it really does drag on. The menu can be really tedious to navigate, too. It also takes a while for the story to pick. Still, it's an enjoyable experience to go through.

Just too hard and a time waster. This type of jrpg is lost in time and it was fun in the past but now I didn’t enjoy it.

No, this...this is a very awful game. Awful game. I don't think I have ever played a game nearly this depressing. Not because of the story, but because it's just a dull, boring, slog ****.
