Nintendo Force Magazine
The best game in the series to date. [Issue #34 – July/August 2018, p. 17]
Dillon's Dead-Heat Breakers is part of a series of games that had not seen a new iteration for several years and when compared to its predecessors, this certainly feels like an appealing, refined and fun experience. Unfortunately it's also too repetitive, which ends up becoming its biggest issue and its price does not seem fully justified for what this game is offering.
This third entry in the series, Dillon's Dead-Heat Breakers, is at best woefully insubstantial and at worst torturously protracted.

Definitly an unterrated Gem! Good mix of driving and action in an tower defense setting, embedded in a story with a couple of fun minigames (racing, tron-style shooting, sorting rubbish, running a shop). The money you earn in the mini games is spend on riflemen for the tower defense, right before defending you gather materials to strengthen the towers. A lot of game mechanics intersected into each other, what makes the fun run for hours. I play it at least 60min once I start it and play it for 16 hours now and don't think that I made it to the half. The 3D is well integrated. It's a strong challenge, but managable. One of my favourites on the 3DS.

Dillon’s Dead Heat Breakers is a great title unfortunately released during a mass exodus from the 3DS to the Switch. It’s a shame because Dillon and his pal Russ are a great set of characters and the world they live in definitely could be explored even further but likely won’t, as this series never really took off the way I think Nintendo hoped it would.

Dillon’s Dead-Heat Breakers is easily the finest the series has yet to offer players. It does away with the clumsy touch controls while offering more variety in gameplay and streamlined battles that perfectly fits the new approach.

For all my frustration with unwelcome tutorials before every level, slow speech, having to replay levels, and hiring helpers, I enjoyed the core action and running my store. The muck you must wade through before you get to the action is unavoidable, but when you do finally get through, it’s compelling. Speeding around the levels as Dillon, slamming into enemies and pulling off last-second saves as animal versions of my friends and family cheer me on is exhilarating.

Dillon's Dead-Heat Breakers is by far the best entry in the Dillon's franchise, with many new features that try to justify the full retail price. Sadly, despite the various new mechanics introduced, the main issue with the previous entries hasn't been fixed: the gameplay can be too repetitive.

The basic mechanics have not been distorted, but have finally been (though not sufficiently) improved.

It's a competent, fun little outing that's almost perfectly suited for kids who need something silly and ridiculous that won't require too much thought or technical mastery.

The games starts with awesome action racing combat , with you tearing down the road, using some sort of boost for momentum and attack. Then you reach the city and it ALL goes down hill. READ READ READ slowly walk Read. It goes from insane fun for a few minutes to a test in how much boredom you can endure through all of the game I played. The annoying squeak of the characters mixed with fetch quests at a snails pace, when there actual fun in the game somewhere just ruined this for me.
