I'm usually a big fan of Neptunia games, but 4 Goddesses Online is very hard to recommend. While it does have that MMO vibe down pat, it lacks one thing that kind of ruins it... reliable online play. You'd figure with a name like "4 Goddesses Online", online play would be a strong selling point... but it isn't. Story is meh. Characters are still fine. Combat is very slow, even compared to the turn based games. There are better Neptunia spin offs than 4 Goddesses Online.

I'm really into these games but this one is my favorite so far. I haven't played the sidescroll RPG one tho... This game doesn't shove fan service in your face. There are little pokes there and here tho for those who like dat. It's extremely funny in a tone. For example you'll be smiling constantly at Neptune's clever dialogue but you won't be falling out of your gaming chair, bed, or whatever you do. The Neptune Universe SHINES with active battles. You'll hope that they make more action games after this. I platinumed it. I loved it. Great atmosphere altogether.

This is an semi-open world adventure/rpg game that simulates to be a Mmorpg. It is divided by medium/larges zones that you access from a hub, like a Platformer game. The gameplay is like a fast action game but with the actions stacked just like in Dark souls, so if you attack, attack and defend the character will do that in that order. It is very colorful and unique in conparison with the Neptunia saga in general. Recommended for Nep fans and newcomers but keep in mind is more like a AA game, so its not like a AAA super budget action game.

Very grindy to show off its lack of content atleadt it upgraded a bit in showing off more sensualized scenes for normal people and no longer turn based.

Awful, AWFUL game! The most INSUFFERABLE version of the main cast, the most AGGRAVATING NPCs and both were so bad that I was rooting for the villains. Which, it is fine to make villains seem a bit sympathetic, but not at Gehaburn point where I hate everything else around it. The OST strangely bleeds into each other. The mechanics are glitchy and awful to the point where I think Tamsoft employees need a different career path. The ONLY thing likable about this game are the character designs, the crossovers from SAO and the level design. Other than that, garbage game!

It's not very good. The last Hyperdimension Neptunia game I played was Victory (on PS3) and I had a great time with it, primarily due to the large number of console war references and its turn-based combat system. I've become bored of button mashers or supposed "good" action combat systems where you simply need to learn a few moves and repeat them throughout the game. I prefer turn-based systems, because even at their worst, they at least require constant thought and basic strategy. I'll get into the story and writing first. The story consists of mostly meaningless filler. You play as the main Hyperdimension characters and their sisters while they're playing a basic MMORPG. You do nothing outside of this MMORPG, but do occasionally hear about people doing things outside of it. The MMORPG plot consists of finding magical artifacts to revive the world's goddesses, reviving them, defeating the evil god's minions, and then defeating the evil god. That's all you get from the MMORPG's world. The rest of the game is filled with dealing with a hacker who's trying to interfere with the game and your characters interacting with each other. The character interactions aren't horrible, but require that you really like or know these characters. Unlike the last Hyperdimension game I played, there's very few references here. I noted two console war references and a handful of other MMORPG references (Sword Art Online being the most referenced). The writing simply isn't as interesting or clever as Victory. But I got a few chuckles out of the character interactions, so it's not all bad. The combat is simply trash. This is the most unsatisfying and simplistic action combat game I ever remember playing. There's almost no audio/visual feedback when you hit something with a weapon. There's no sense of impact; it's like I was cutting through air when damaging monsters. You have a single attack combo (for each character) that you'll be using for the entire game. And if you have carpel tunnel syndrome, beware, as you'll be mashing the square button constantly, as that's the primary strategy for killing all bosses in the game (with the occasional block). Skills are mostly worthless, except when you get a boss into break status, where they take more damage. Then you'll want to use your most basic skills (the ones you start with) as they're the most efficient damage/sp-wise. I couldn't find any reason to use the more powerful, and much more expensive skills. And then there's combat bugs and issues. In most boss battles, I either got stuck within the boss (and couldn't move for the entire battle) or my attack/defense commands stopped working (which required opening and closing the menu to resolve). Commanding your team is pointless. No matter what command I chose, I couldn't get them to consistently block or heal, so I just got used to their stupidity. Party positioning AI is stupid. Your battle members want to be right on top of you at all times, ensuring that they all get hit by every attack while simultaneously preventing you from seeing whether your character is blocking. Getting them to stay on one side of a boss while I slowly moved around to the other side became an almost-required skill. And in the last battle, the boss has a repeating attack that kills everyone unless they block. I ended up having to complete that one solo. Graphically, the game is a mixed bag. The environments look pretty good, but your characters are strange. Their top-halves are modeled well, though their faces are more rounded their 2d portraits, so they just don't look like the same people. Their bottom halves are a disappointment, given there's a big focus on panty fan service in this game (several of the unlockable cg pictures feature this). Their bottom halves are vita-quality. I found a total of two costumes per main character (not counting their main costume from previous games), with several color variations for each. This isn't great, but I'm surprised we got this much considering the quality of the rest of the game. Oh, and the horrendous blur. There's either a blur filter applied over the entire game or it's running at a scaled resolution. This applies to the 3d fighting sections and the 2d story sections. It gets worse in the 2d sections as they frequently move character portraits back and forth, which moves them in and out of focus, showing them off in their full blurry pixelated glory. To finish up, I received very little sense of accomplishment after completing this game. It's primarily for people who love the Hyperdimension characters, don't mind filler content, and don't mind horrible action combat systems. Here's hoping VII is better. I'll be trying that in a few months.

打击感糟糕,剧情稀薄,但人设,插画,动作等方面无可挑剔,标准的萌豚游戏,游戏体验很大程度上取决于玩家对ACG的喜好程度。

Welp, time to but Mymoo on blast - He meant create an account for here. Anyways, turn on the game, get hit with 1 minute of unskippable into crap, then a 2 minute load time, then another long load time. I would give it a pass if there were zero load times in the game at all, but I didn't get far enough to find out (more on that in a second). Finally get into the game, and I am met with what feels like a 13 year old fanfiction of SAO. The story is a mess from the get go, and has just some of the highest levels of cringe I've seen in a game. I gave it a chance and actually tried to read what was being said, but I just couldnt after a certain point. Get to the opening cutscene (which is unskippable like everything else) and just watch it through. Whatever, standard anime stuff. I end up skipping all the next text to see if the gameplay is actually good. First thing is I move forward and all control is taken away at the site of the first mob then more cringe dialogue. Combat just seems bog standard ARPG stuff. End up just saying screw it and deleting the game off my HDD. I paid $15, so my bar was set extremely low for this game. I cannot imagine how someone not a diehard fan of this series would feel paying $50 for this. I like my anime and my ARPG/JRPGs to death, but there was only so much I could attempt to stomach before just giving up. 4 points given because the art style was well done for what they were going for and the voice acting for English was good. Taking 6 off because whomever gave the greenlight for this game needs to be taken out back behind the barn and shot. Back to more mindless grinding on PSO2.

This game is bad. There's no two ways about, it's the worst in the entire series. It's not a good starting point for anyone either. The point of the game is obviously to make fun of SAO, and it gets two point for that, but the other two points only come because the game actually looks pretty good and it functions, because no game that functions deserves a zero. If I did believe that, this game would be a three, because it's just awful. The gameplay is more simple than any of the other action rpgs in the series, and the online servers are total garbage. The lag makes them entirely unplayable. I platinumed this game, but it's one of those where I almost feel guilty about it, because it's so easy to get it, it's hardly worth it. The game is also incredibly short, like shorter than any SAO game I've ever played. I got the platinum in four days and about 25 hours of gameplay. It's really that easy, as is the rest of the game. If the game was meant to be terrible, that would be one thing, but no game should try so hard to be meta that it actually makes the game worse for anyone who buys it, and that's exactly what this game is. I got it for 20 dollars on sale, and I still don't think it's worth it.

I like neptunia...I'm not a fan but I do like their games: they're funny and keep me entertained for as much as I need (usually 30 hours or so) and this game is no difference from the rest. However, there are a lot of things that don't click with me and it's all because of its "pseudo-mmorpg" feeling that it wants to give to the player. Ok so let's start with the basics: the main cast is now playing an mmorpg, called 4 goddesses online - hence the name of the game - and they are essentially beta testers and eventually you meet cheaters and crackers **** we just get on the point? First of all, the game starts out **** by slowly I mean with at least 60 seconds of logos and a fake loading screen that takes about 1 minute to finish. I initially thought it was a one time thing and I thought it was clever but nope, you gotta sit through both everytime you boot it up and it either makes you wanna play as much as you can in one sitting, or just not bother at all. Second thing: there's just one slot for saving. Again I get it, it's to simulate the mmorpg feel but even current mmorpgs allows you to create multiple characters (oops?) and while not a big issue it can cause a lot of nuisances in case some others wants to play the game ON YOUR console. So make sure nobody plays the game on your console or you can say bye bye to your files! Third: game is once again a hub-based world with areas to explore and while I wasn't expecting open world areas like in a real mmorpg, at least allow us to run around the hub city? The areas are okay but very fewer than before and they become easily forgettable after a while. The combat is **** it wasn't for the bad AI that controls your characters AND the boss fixating over your character. I tried every tactic but the only one that seemed to work was defense: everything else would make my healer not heal. Also, enemies will constantly - CONSTANTLY - aim your character no matter what and as a result you're forced to kite enemies all the time Can someone tell me why nearly no action rpg is able to make a bloody aggro list or something on their games?! The only one who made it work was Xenoblade chronicles and that game is old! This is a serious issue as it makes your character essentially a kitter and you either play the tank or just run all the time, since you'll die if you stop and attack With that out, let me explain the combat itself: you just have one attack button and you'll spam it everytime and if you're not spamming your attack you're spamming your special attacks until your SP is gone. There is no tactics in this game: you use attacks to drain the break bar and then spam your best attacks, including your special attack - which requires 4 bars. I noticed that the best characters to drain the bar are nepgear and uni and they're so broken, they can kill most bosses with ease: I just kept Uni since she's more agile and she can charge up her EX incredibly fast and her elemental shot was doing over 20k per shot That's it, and you can't even level up characters in the rear: just like old school rpgs you're forced to have them up front and let them fight, or else they won't level up, but considering only few are very good you'll most likely stick with a single group. I will say this though: the game is promising enough and if they are going to improve it over time, I think we might get a neptunia with better combat and maybe more variation: I still think they should've taken inspiration from neptunia U instead and have a system like that because not all mmorpgs have fun combat and really if I had to take a comparison with a real mmorpg, 4 Goddesses online would be a crappier version of PSO. With pretty much no depth Overall, it's an alright game and despite having a crash or two, I can recommend it fairly enough, however I recommend it on discount since it's incredibly short (I could plat it in less than 25 hours and I'm a slug of a player) and I'm not sure the online is worth it Let's hope for a better sequel!

This is the best Neptunia game so far. First of all gameplay is good, graphics are better than any other Neptunia game and story is interesting. Game balance is overall very good. 9/10 for sure!

If you read Mitcher78's review of 0/10 then you know that person lying because you dont need to create an account on four goddesses online, he thought it was an actual MMO, he obviously didnt play the game and he reviews it? How dumb just to give a zero rating. Mitcher, you're the reason why metacritic is full of cancer. Do you feel stupid now after knowing you don't need an account? Now on to the review, the game, its very good of neptunia fans and honestly, if only their online wasnt laggy, it surpasses Sword art online games on ps3 and ps4, thats how good 4 goddess online is, so ill give it an 8 instead of 9 because the online experience is quite not good, too laggy. But single player experience i say Megadimension is still better

First of all if you are a Neptune fan this title is a must buy and you will not be disappointed, and if you do not follow it or want to start it, it is a highly recommended game to enter the series (although I recommend playing the main line first) in this game they make an introduction of the characters and is not so difficult to pick up the pace, is one of the best spin off of the series if not the best, has an accessible and fun gameplay with a level of complexity that increases depending on how deep you want to reach. It has a story that as is customary in the series fulfills its task of entertaining and pulling one smile in your face, is not an epic and legendary story, but of course this is very good. In technical matters this game makes good use of the UE4 showing a great evolution compared to other games of the saga. So far in places with large number of enemies I have not seen at any time in which affect the fps. It has a very fun multiplayer where you can perform quests with up to 3 people. The best sections of this game are the artistic and the sonorous 10/10 a demonstration that these people know what it does, a design of scenarios and characters well above many other games today. The only issue that i encounter is the delay in launching between the different regions, but this does not demerit a great game. In summary a great game 100% recommended

So far one of the best Neptunia games. I still wouldn't recommend this over VII, unless you don't like turn-based games. However, this game clearly shows the improvement the series had so far. The game now runs on UR4 with a pretty constant framerate, though it has some memory leaks that will cause the frame rate to drop and eventually the whole game to crash. But besides that, I have no complains. Soundtrack is amazing as always, graphics look really good for an anime game. The gameplay feels good, even though it gets a bit repetitive by the middle of the game, but it soon gets better again when you begin unlocking a **** ton of skills. The new character art is amazing, story isn't deep but it's pretty funny, and of course, the best of all. The characters. So if you are a Nep fan, I definetly recommend looking into this one. If not, I still recommend looking into it, as long as you are into anime games. Probably one of the best anime games this year, and for me easily the best so far. The final veredict is something around 9.5/10 if you like Nep, 9/10 if you like anime, and 8/10 as a game.

Ok, I have created an account just to say: WHAAAT??? Seriously? This game is one of the biggest pieces of crap that I have played in my whole life. Repetitive, boring, absurd, with PS2 graphics and terrible gameplay. Stay away!
