Cuban Missile Crisis is a unique strategy game with a very cool premise and setting, though the combat itself can be a difficult mess.

Очень качественная стратегия. Жаль, что сейчас уже таких не делают. Графика хоть и в 2D, но очень красива. Создатели выжали максимум с движка Блицкрига. Визуально есть парочка графических багов, но они не влияют на общее восприятие игры. Управление очень простое и интуитивно понятное, что очень важно для стратегии, особенно для тактической RTS. Игровой процесс и механики удались на славу. Действительно чувствуешь себя полководцем. Система повреждений, также радует реалистичностью. Немного огорчает ИИ. Так как его тактика, в основном, это лобовая атака с всеми силами, с минимальной тактической составляющей. Но если играть на уровне сложности выше легкого, то именно эта тактика заставляет игрока по нервничать.

This is essentially a professional quality modification to “Blitzkrieg”, handled by another Russian developer with ties to original producers Nival Interactive. [Mar 2006, p.61]

The problem is that déjà vu quickly sets in as there are only a handful of map templates. What's more, without a proper Skirmish or multiplayer option, if you're adverse to such hardships it won't be long before you're pining for something more upbeat.

About the only people that are going to enjoy this game are the ones who really get into alternate history settings, or people who really like a lot of details in their units and can put up with the problematic RTS glitches. Be prepared to micro-manage. Be prepared to save and reload. Often.

Cuban Missile Crisis will only appeal to hardcore RTS fans or anyone who has a strong interest in playing a hybrid RTS/Turn-based title.
