Nostalgia might well have carried this one through, but in truth it doesn’t need it: this is a great game that has for the most part aged remarkably well, with the visual upgrade and other tweaks serving to make absolutely certain it’s worth the price of admission; I just wish the AI didn’t sometimes feel so cheap. It’s rare that a game can be as good as it was 20 years ago in a modern re-release – but this classic kart racer manages it.

Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled is just about perfect at what it’s trying to do. The redone adventure mode is a blast minus the grind required to get coins to unlock stuff, and the core gameplay has been refined. This results in the best-playing Crash racing game ever and yet another top-shelf kart racer. Right now, the genre is as big as it’s been in 20 years, with Sonic, Mario, and Crash all competing at stores and the best thing for players is that you can’t go wrong with any of them. Crash offers up a tremendous game overall and it’s definitely an experience I would put above Team Sonic Racing, but ever so slightly behind Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

Crash Bandicoot and company return to the track driving their karts, now completely remodeled and ready to compete in the current generation of consoles. A title a little demanding but very beautiful, totally recommended to play with friends and relive those wonderful moments of our childhood.

CTR Nitro-Fueled is one of the racing games i'll definitely recommend to a PS4 user. The controls, gameplay, visuals, character roster and tracks are great. There are some flaws like the CTR coin and Crystal challenges are not that easy. The microtransactions are a slight issue and you need to play atleast 5 Cup Races to buy one character to spend your Wumpa Coins on. But, the 2x Wumpa Coin weekend bonus really helps if you wanna save up for a character bundle. Another flaw is that the loading screen times are also very long. Despite those flaws, Nitro-Fueled is still a good racing game to this day. I recommend this if you want a slightly friendly, cartoony, fun racing game.

Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled is another remarkable remake of a true timeless classic. It masterfully balances new and fresh content with everything that originally lapped up such a fanbase. CTR Nitro-Fuled not only feels like an indulgent, nostalgic treat but it feels like a game that can truly be appreciated all over again thanks to new and exciting tweaks and explosive new content. Step aside Mario, there’s a new karting-king in town.

A fantastic comeback of one of the most beloved PS1 games. Beenox did a fantastic job remaking this classic racing game.

I am completely satisfied with the game and enjoy it. Almost everything in this game is great, and the many characters, cars, and tracks are one of the obvious reasons why I think the game is awesome even in 2025.

Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled is an impressive remaster from top to bottom. Beenox’s work here is certainly worthy of praise, but some of the credit also goes to Naughty Dog for crafting such an amazing game in the first place. It’s certainly one of the more complex and challenging kart racers, but it ranks right up there alongside the other greats in the genre.

Overall Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled is an enjoyable kart racer. The karts are fast and the tracks are challenging, so the campaign mode can be a little frustrating to casual and younger gamers. Multiplayer racing is a lot of fun, both locally and online, and you can easily get in a couple of races when you only have a few minutes of game time available. I love all of the customization options, but picking up all of the coins that you need and accomplishing all of the goals required will take some time to get through.

Nitro-Fueled gives Crash Team Racing a much-needed visual facelift while keeping the first-rate kart racing mechanics intact. The small amount of single player content doesn't give you much to do by yourself, but the healthy helping of multiplayer modes and unforgiving AI provide plenty of reasons to keep you coming back.

This is the definitive Crash Team Racing experience. Nitro-Fueled is everything I hoped it would be, a faithful recreation of the classic game with added flair and personality. A lack of custom race settings and some superficial gripes are not enough to dissuade me that this is among the best kart racers available. Crash is absolutely back, baby.

A jam-packed remake that looks and sounds brilliant, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled is a lovingly crafted remake of a much beloved kart racer. Online play and customisation bring it kicking and screaming into the 21st century, but for as fun as the zippy racing is, it sticks perhaps a little too closely to the original model. High difficulty and some unforgiving track design mean this feels slightly dated. However, it's hard not to crack a smile as you drift around familiar tracks, laying down TNT crates, and humming along to the music. Fans will love what Beenox has done, but for everyone else, just be aware of the game's retro tendencies before stepping behind the wheel.

From snappy controls, satisfying boosts and gripping gameplay, this is without a doubt the best kart racer to date.
The adrenaline pumping fun you have is something that is very hard to match with any other racing game or even any other game in general. Beenox absolutely killed it and hats off to the OG Naughty Dog Developers too. Only shame is the addition of micro transactions.

Loading times absolutely unacceptable for a 2019 game. Difficulty level is not well tuned, easy is pointless and difficult is impossible.

The game itself is good. But the load times are unbearable, around 45 seconds each. Most levels are finished in a few minutes. I actually timed them, and for every hour of playtime, I was spending 15mins watching a loading screen. It's also stuffed with greedy microtransactions, and only has the campaign from the first game. So all the levels from Nitro Kart (the 2nd game) can only be played in the Arcade or Online modes, despite them having a Story mode in the original Nitro Kart. They could have taken the time investment that they put into microtransactions, and used it to add the missing campaign instead. But they chose the option that favors the publisher, not the player.
