If you enjoy your stories ripping and your RTSs simple but smart, Codename: Panzers Phase Two is probably for you.

I have logged more hours with this than many of the RTS games I have reviewed because it was both enjoyable and reasonably challenging. I can hardly wait for Phase III.

The story is engaging, the graphics are attractive, and the gameplay is challenging, but rewarding. I'm practically burnt out on WWII games, but this one managed wet my whistle.

Some will no doubt be disappointed with the lack of progression but everything that Codename Panzers did so well in the first phase has been brought forward so elegantly with Phase Two. If you want to see the best the WW2 RTS genre has to offer, then you really have no need to look any further.

In the end, the change of scenery is enough for me to want to play this game. If Phase Three does nothing but add even more missions in an entirely new theater, I'll still be first in line to buy it.

If you enjoyed the first game then this should be the game for you, especially if you are a hardcore strategy game fan.

All around good stuff, worth putting on those worn out virtual combat boots for again.

With well-designed missions, strong graphics and a good balance of “realistic” and “fun”, Phase 2 is a decent way to spend some gaming hours. It’s not as standout as it needs to be to drag itself from the pile of “me too!” WWII titles, but Phase 2 is certainly near the top of a very long list.
