Once you have finished the game and switched off your console, you'll remember Blackwood Crossing as one of the most memorable gaming experiences in recent years: in just a few hours, it will summon vivid and palpable feelings; joy and sorrow so touching as to stimulate reflection on the value of brotherly affection.

Blackwood Crossing is a surprising release, a game that delicately explores the difficult emotions of grief, guilt and love told through the eyes of two orphaned siblings.

Blackwood Crossing garnered a genuine emotional response courtesy of some considered writing and smart pacing. Whilst short, this tale is certainly memorable with a likeable star pairing. I felt engrossed and I’m glad I’ve seen it through. If the asking price might seem a bit steep, keep an eye on it. This is definitely worth playing.

The Digital Fix
Blackwood Crossing is a mature take on the process of grief and is certainly worth playing despite its flaws. It does not strive for a happy ending where there can’t be one, but instead presents an acceptance of what loss does to an individual and to a family, permanently. The grieving emotions of abandonment, guilt and confusion are wrapped artfully in a surreal world of rabbits and haunted potting sheds. It’s a game that can be completed in an evening, but only if you want to spend it struggling slowly through uncanny landscapes, and crying.

GameCritics
With what seems like a new narrative adventure popping up every week, Blackwood Crossing is stuck in the middle — it’s not great enough to recommend, but not bad enough to write off. It’s just an average title with a few moments of beauty peering over the edges of its mediocrity.

Blackwood Crossing is full of good ideas, but its execution isn't so good. Beyond the colorful graphics and art style, the game feels empty, and even mediocre.

Video Chums
As a video game, Blackwood Crossing fails to deliver any sort of worthwhile gameplay. However, as an interactive experience, some may find its emotional story relatable and heartfelt which might just make it a satisfying journey.

You can describe this game easily with two phrases: Immersive, emotional storytelling: The way the story is told and the emotional world of the main protagonist is kept into the world of bits and bytes is stunning and it really touches you! Some Question will be never answered and the way the game brings this into the charakter and the world of the game is outstanding! Awful gameplay mechanics and poor engineering The most annoying thing of the game is simply that you can not run - like - never! there are some parts with riddles where you have to move back and forth a few times and doing this in walking pace is nearly a dealbreaker because it annoys the hell out of who ever is sitting in front of the screen. The second downside, and by far the biggest one, is the loading screen that pops up everytime you change a scene. And it stays there for proper 30 seconds or more. In such a game with minor enviroments/scenes and a emotional story that lives from smooth transistions and a seamless experience it hurts to play it like this. Everytime the game gets really emotional a loading screen is waiting for you just to kick you back in reality and out of the immersion. It ruined a lot of this game for me. But all in all the story, the charakters and the way it is represented and how it builds up is written in such a unique and impressiv way, that i still would recommend this game!

There is a difference between gameplay and busywork, and this game doesn't know it. Also, Finn is a bit of a jerk.
