Some conundrums may have you reaching for a dusty copy of “Windows 95 for Dummies,” but Desktop Explorer is a highly polished puzzle-based expedition into the depths of a computerized mystery spanning decades.

I always love a game that has you searching someone's computer, but Desktop Explorer takes things to the next level by integrating ingeniously designed puzzles that require serious thought to solve. It's not for everyone, but if you're a fan of brainteasers, you're going to love this.

Desktop Explorer transforms a retro Windows 95 desktop into one of the year's most inventive psychological horror adventures. With exceptional environmental storytelling, brilliantly varied puzzles, and a haunting atmosphere built around memory and loss, Recurring Dream's debut is a clever mystery that lingers long after the credits roll.

Seriously games like this really just like to waste your time and I really can't stand it when this **** does not work. There were several instances in which I was totally correct about the puzzle Add the solution and maybe one letter was off or something was wrong with the spelling and the game still doesn't want you to go through. There is times where the puzzles are remarkably easy and then unbelievably hard I don't know how anyone would be able to understand that fish one. It got to a point where I was just looking every single thing up and I'm like why am I playing this if I have to look up the entire game. Probably better to just watch it on Youtube. I love puzzle games like Blueprints and stuff like that but at least it's somewhat intuitive when you play them This one not so much. I think I'm giving such a low score here because at the end the game was glitched and did not give me the file that I need just completely wasting my time and if you like wasting yours you can play this.

Great game with great mechanics... Great game... Score 9/10. It's a good way to pass the time and it's very addictive and intuitive.

Excelling in both simplicity and excellent storytelling, Desktop Explorer manages to keep the grey matter triggered by merely asking for passwords. The team at Recurring Dream knows how to intrigue, challenge, and scare all at once, making Desktop Explorer a light-weight game packing heavy-weight punch. No matter how hard or obscure it gets, Desktop Explorer is one project you don't want want to log out of.

Despite some setbacks, Desktop Explorer remains one of the most enjoyable and clever puzzle games I’ve played. The puzzles are unique, the horror is ever-present, and the aesthetic will appeal to anyone who grew up in the 90s, complete with a nostalgic soundtrack that suits each segment of the story.
