Beast of Reincarnation is a great ARPG, with firm but fair combat and wide scope for crafting a build to your tastes. Surprisingly, perhaps, it also has a deep and thoughtful story that it trusts you to dig into yourself. Let Game Freak henceforth be known as the Beast of Reincarnation studio.

Beast of Reincarnation delivers a compelling action-adventure driven by an intriguing narrative, responsive combat, and a rewarding exploration system that consistently encourages players to venture off the beaten path. Character progression is tightly woven into exploration, while the game's atmosphere reinforces the mystery surrounding Emma's journey alongside her companion, Ko. Although it suffers from limited enemy variety, underwhelming boss encounters, and a handful of technical issues, Game Freak successfully establishes a new IP with a distinct identity and plenty of room to grow.

Beast of Reincarnation stands out as a surprisingly strong action title from Game Freak, delivering challenging combat, rewarding progression, and an endearing protagonist duo. Beast of Reincarnation is a great game and shines in its gameplay with its various combat options. The story isn't bad, but its unfolding is slow to the point of being boring. Some technical issues with the frame rate (which will probably be fixed with updates) are also apparent. Finally, the bosses are amazing, but there's a bit of unnecessary repetition of them throughout the journey.

Beast of Reincarnation proves Game Freak can deliver much more than Pokémon. Its gorgeous world, gripping story, and deep combat make Emma and Koo’s journey a thrilling experience. Repetitive music and disruptive dialogue slow things down at times, but the spectacular bosses and satisfying parries more than make up for it.

While no masterpiece, Beast of Reincarnation’s engaging combat and bond-based core render it an endearing debut from a storied publisher. Check it out if you’re in the market for something different.
