A bit absurd and outlandish, but still enjoyable space expedition that thankfully runs out of gas after you get your share of co-op fun.

Astroneer is a nice survival game that’s hopelessly behind the curve: we’ve already seen everything it has to offer in one game or another. [Issue#237, p.40]
Fans of sandbox or crafting games might be pleased with the package, and can bump this score up at least a point or two. For others, this has some serious flaws with its user interface, and simple constructing/crafting is often aggravatingly difficult, which unfortunately drags down what otherwise is an okay, if repetitive title. It is really sad, as at its root, this could be a gem, with some simple patches or design overhauls, and appeal to a far greater audience.

Absolute cinema. Lots of content, beautiful design and music. Wouldn't necessarily reccomend Megatech yet, but the game is amazing nonetheless.

I technically have more playtime as I've tried this game twice more in the past, but I really can't bring myself to enjoy this game. Everything in this game is a bit bland and repetitive. There is no sense of fulfillment in playing. According to my friend too the whole game is just going to different planets, and power up the planet core. The best part of this game to me was just the roundness of the planet (as Ive never gotten to space). But again, I'd rather just spend my time on another similar type of game as this feels like a time dump game with receptiveness at its core

Astroneer is definitely on the soft side of the survival spectrum. It looks inviting and fun, whether your lone explorer is bounding across the colorful landscape or mining deep within underground caves. Collecting resources and crafting them into new tools is the main focus, and Astroneer falters in not having more interesting things to find within each planet. In the end though, it's a lovely little game if you want to survive without all the pesky hunger and thirst you find in other games.

Super chill and relaxing game. I played it during the early access times and played the campaign 3 times since then. I just love the atmosphere, digging deep down into the planets and visit others. Never played such a relaxing game before. I love it. <3 The tutorial tries to help you get along with the ui etc. - and it can be quite weird sometimes - but once you understand how to learn new stuff and create/build things, you will start to explore. You want your base underground? No problem! Or maybe near the clouds? Just build it and have fun doing it. It's very easy/simple and that's the beauty of it.

It provides an experience that is generally therapeutic and almost never stressful. It’s not a perfect game, but it’s the kind of game that could be perfect for certain situations or groups of gamers looking for their next adventure.

Astroneer is a great adventure if you play it with someone, since playing it alone makes it quite simple and repetitive.

Astroneer provides a (mostly) tranquil environment to explore with your friends, or by yourself to unwind. The fact that the game doesn’t bury you in a collection loop and actually gives you breathing room to explore and tinker will be a downside for some, but for those with the patience, it’s a game you could easily spend hundreds of hours unraveling.

Critical Hit
Chirpy and charming, Astroneer is a lovely survival game for players who want a chill experience. Just don’t expect much in terms of varied gameplay (for now).

Astroneer‘s a neat little game full of little quirks and things to discover, but near the end of my time with it I was definitely starting to burn out on the loop of creating equipment on one planet before blasting off into space, landing in new, harsher environment, and starting from scratch once more. Grab an Astropeer and a couple of Astrobeers and this title could easily provide a few evenings’ worth of entertainment. Beyond that, the numerous bugs and repetition of the core experience make it a less appealing prospect.

From the intuitive and rewarding crafting system to the intriguing mystery that's there to unlock, not to mention the fun voxel based terrain manipulation, astroneer has earned its place as one of my favorite games of all time.

The game itself is great, but it's just full of bugs. My friend spent a lot of time building a digging machine, only for both the machine and the character to get stuck in the planet's core. That would've been fine—I could at least dig down and rescue them. But somehow, the character glitched into outer space, leaving the vehicle stranded in the core.

So, first of all, for a release there are just too many bugs! My favorite one is when you walk and suddenly get thrown up into the air - for no apparent reason - a then die from falling damage. Really, Dev´s? About the game itself I´m a bit torn. Let´s start with the pros: There´s quiet a lot of progression in the game. You start with some basic stuff and through a lot of research, you´ll be able to travel to other planets. The machines look nice and there are some good ideas, like the trading system, that will allow you to buy resources without having to travel somewhere, just because you are missing one certain resource. The cons: While machines look nice, the terrain itself looks just awful... Almost no threats in the game - no animals - it just feels lonely. (Just some OP-plants.... yes, a mushroom can kill you) Vehicles handle terribly, get stuck a lot and are not that useful (except for maybe getting research items). The crafting system. It´s nice in the beginning, but later on you have a lot of different resources, that you can combine into other resources to craft more advanced stuff. The problem here is, that you´ll run around your base collecting each one of the required components in order to feed them to the printers. Why isn´t there a main storage where the printers take resources from? Why do I have to feed them every single one of them??? This got tedious and irritating rapidly... The game gets boring after a couple of hours, but especially the endgame, when you just run around and dig to get the "unlocks" for the ending. The bugs! So many... Overall I must say, the idea of the game is good, but it just wasn´t so much fun to play. Even if the many bugs are fixed, the gameplay would still be mediocre at best.

I've created a Metacritic account today because either the devs or some die hard fans are upvoting Astroneer on Metacritic currently which, uh, feels odd imo. As for the game, it is okay. It is not ground breaking, nor good looking, it is rather... average? Currently Steam reviews are going down for good reasons I suppose. The terrain looks ugly most the time. Check out Steam reviews for more complaints, esp. by disappointed long time players and Early Access fans. I, personally, find Astroneer a bit too buggy, laggy, the terrain with either too many cracks (mesh holes, actually) or too ugly? How did they come up after so many years in EA with such awful textures and models? This is not okay for that price. And the long term gameplay... is just not fun. Wait for a decent discount. Astroneer is no way worth more than $4-5. But, of course, it could be so much more, but my guess is, as some journalists pointed out, that the actual devs did not have the experience in handling such a game on their own, as if they did not fully grasp what survival fans need and want. But I fully understand why other players enjoy it, for sure. Cheers
