This is a fantastic game that excels in gameplay, which features brutally challenging but highly rewarding combat system, juxtaposed with highly charming sprite-based visuals reminiscent of children's diorama-style animation. Audio is sparingly yet expertly used. There is little music outside of towns, which serves to create an eery atmosphere that is punctuated by welcome and well-pitched narration and occasionally smashed by a ramping up of tempo and tension as bongo-backed boss battles begin. If I had to give some criticism, I'd say two things. Firstly, they could have included more optional / non-linear content but I'm hoping for DLC to address this and in any case I can appreciate that this is in many ways a streamlined story that is very well told. Secondly, and more importantly, the amount of crashing, which I found occurred mainly after lengthy loading as you travel between the two key areas did cause some frustration for me although it didn't ruin the experience (patch needed on Switch!) All in all, an incredible game, and I'd love to see more from the developer.

Was quite disappointed with this immediately after purchasing. Initially I was just disappointed with how unimpressive Super Mario Galaxy and Sunshine were as I hadn't played them before but soon enough they released Super Mario 64 on Nintendo Switch Online so even the one good game in the collection, which wasn't even remastered by the way, turned out to be a waste of money as well
