7 Days to Die7

It looks bad, plays like Minecraft without the variation of creatures and above all, it's still buggy in places and there are probably better games out there, however, if you can look past those issues then you can find some stuff to like about this game such as the gunplay actually feels good and the areas feel balanced like you can live practically anywhere as long as you figure out what you need to survive there and both of those are kind of important for an FPS survival game. I can even honestly say that enjoy being attacked every seven days since it gives me something to work towards and that makes survival mode more fun for me unlike in a game like Minecraft for instance where it just feels annoying or in Conan Exiles where your waiting for a bar to fill up to actually have some fun against NPC's. I'll admit this game isn't perfect, but for $40 you can do a lot worse in my opinion.

Lords of Xulima7
Jan 7, 2016
After The Video Review: Lords Of Xulima Hours Played: 12 hours Price: $19.99 USD I normally do this anyways and I had a lot to say so I just kept it in this format. The Good: Old school style with new school mechanics: it has kind of an old school feel of ultima in a way but it’s supported by new age combat and graphics. Interesting combat game-play: basically if your enemy is using a melee weapon and he’s to the far left of the screen he can’t attack the far right without moving first, which costs half a turn to move. In addition to that it’s all turn based combat with weapons and skills that can stun and while not as comprehensive as say final fantasy x and it’s turn based system it’s still pretty good. The voice overs are pretty good: often the proper voice can make or break a game, but they pretty much nailed it here the narrator and the voice of god sound very appropriate and usually are dipping with dramatic feel to it. The environments are pretty well detailed and everything looks good: it actually a good thing to be a developer on Steam and not have your game look like it was done in MS Paint and here it looks really well done, with good detail in pretty much everything you encounter and every where you go. It has a Steam workshop: there is too many mods and for the most part they haven’t done too much in terms of really outlandish stuff, but it’s always nice to have. The Bad: The outright necessary grinding: I’m not kidding here you WILL grind in this game you WILL kill every enemy in every area if you want to continue on your quest there is no maybe here. but wait there’s more! the enemy's are finite and you get a bonus for killing all of them that you will need, so you LITTERY have to go everywhere to fight every enemy. The lack of skills: the ones they do have are more trial and error and outside of the divine summoner class it feels like most characters really don’t have a lot of skills in the beginning and as they level up they still feel really under powered. Complete lack of explanations: most of the skill icons you can’t click on so you don’t know what they do same with the icons on the weapon stat’s, even concepts like when poison or bleeding will affect you is never explained, Also it never gives you a look at what skills you character will receive way down the line so you're never sure what you're building towards. Often times completely unrealistic with its difficulty: somehow even after you take down nearly EVERY enemy in EVERY part you can go in a map if you didn’t build you didn’t min/max your characters correctly then congrats you get to start all over again from the beginning of the game. it has such an unforgiving difficulty that even if you have been playing CRPG’s your entire life you're still going to lose, that being said however you're probably going to restart to get your revenge (after you buy a new keyboard). The DLC feels like a slap in the face: I swear it like the devs when they making them were like “aww is it too hard for you? that’s ok you can just spend more of your money too make it allll better.” It has a weird stutter when you run: this could just be my computer but it has a really weird jerky stutter when your character starts running again it could be just me but it’s weird. The Summary: This game just is not approachable by anybody who isn’t direly serious about needing a challenge in a CRPG and Dark Souls & Bloodborne just aren’t your thing, everybody else just needs to stay away from this title because the only thing you’ll find with this game is frustration and a lot of broken keyboards, but if you can make it past all that there is a good game here albeit one I can’t recommend but a good game all the same.

Always Sometimes Monsters7
Dec 27, 2015
After The Video Review Quickie : Always Sometimes Monsters Total play time : 3 Hours Price: $9.99 This game isn't a bad game it's actually a pretty good one, but I don't really feel like playing any more of it due to the fact that I HATE timers in video games and this game has a thirty day timer (you have to make it from one area to another in thirty days), but it does have interesting ideas like no combat and even though the game is pretty text heavy it never feels boring to read the text (mainly because they don’t just throw a book at you and call it story, I'm looking at you Space Rangers, Wasteland, Labyriona, Skyrim, etc), also even though I didn’t get very far what I saw in the story I really liked even though it reminds me of a bunch of movies where the guy/girl loses the guy/girl and he/she gets married and invites him/her to the wedding. So this game isn't for me but I would have never picked it up if I knew it had timer game-play in it, and aside from that the time I’ve spent with the game wasn’t bad and as I said before this is actually a good game and one I can recommend, but only to those who know what they’re getting themselves into and don’t go in expecting one thing only to get another so my final rating is 7/10 a good game.

This game is pretty bland conceptually with a top down battlefield experience where you must climb the ranks in a imagery army that has no back story and no real plot aside from "that's the enemy go git 'em!". Believe it or not however certain types of games (like this one) don't need a story as long as the game-play is good, not the case here however because the mechanics on display hinder it greatly for example: the camera is permanently at a angle which isn’t a problem as long as you don’t put buildings or some other structures that block your view in a game that requires fast reflexes, which is what happened and plenty of times it feels like the camera is to close any way not giving you enough time to react to your attacker. Of course this is all only the tip of the iceberg with the visuals being bland, muddy and uninteresting, the game-play lacking complexity with any of it’s weapons or vehicles, no music aside from the one music track in the menu screen that got CONTENT ID’D when I uploaded to YouTube, a very long time to climb up in the ranks with very little to do in the meantime and it doesn’t carry over through game-plays, and then finally a extremely poor tutorial stage that somehow explains very little and still wastes your time. So it sound like this is a worst game of the year contender for me then right? Nope it still does have an online component and even though I didn’t play much of it I did find a welcoming community and I can’t say that the offline game didn’t help me learn to play the game since you can make any offline game online, and it does feature a slider bar to adjust your game-play before you start up a offline map. I can honestly say that this isn’t the worst game I’ve ever played but it’s far from the best it’s got plenty problems, but with it’s problems and how little it takes any chances I have to give it the score it deserves 5/10 average.

For those who either don't want check it out or don't have the 30 mins it takes for me to get to the point in my video that I did on my channel I kinda liked it however after playing about 5 more hours I definitely don't, I feel the game is lacking in balance, focus, proper path finding and forces you to grind right out of the gate with monsters that can hit twice and cause poison, this causes most players to spend way to much time in the starting area and a bunch of unneeded game overs. It's not just in the starting area either practically every area you go to feels like a game of guess what the dev is thinking from an area of ware-wolf's that you cannot fight until your lvl 10 at lest with the fire ball technique or a snow field that's so big you have to spend 2 hours at lest before you figure out that this game just hates you. What I didn't really get to record is just how bad some of the maps can be for instance: in the aforementioned snow field you have to know in order to continue on you have to get a key from a dragon that you have to fight dragon, but in order to do that you have to find a key in a field, after that you have to find a diary in a ruined house in order to help a ghost that doesn't tell you any of this, but then and only then can you go to a castle to get an item that you need to cross a desert, AND THAT IS ONLY ONE AREA! Even the story witch is THE most important part in a RPG is completely glossed over and we're give some lines about gods and labyrinths and we need elemental stones.... alright its not that I wasn't paying attention here its that in this RPG the story is taking a back seat and letting to player drive, and while that may work for some games in the genre a game made in RPG maker cannot claim unique that it has revolutionary new game play mechanics. However that being said I did enjoy battle (when I wasn't being put to sleep, blinded, and grounded at the same time) and the world and monster designs were definitely nice, the music in the game is just awesome and I love that this game is made by some one who is inspired by older game like chrono trigger and I can really feel some of the older RPG's influence in many different areas in the game. It would have been really nice to see this game get re balanced, maybe get another look over and fix some things, or even a easy mode for newer players, but as I'm writing this I can already that they have a squeal so with heavy heart I must give this a final score of 4/10 below average.
